Psalms 47:1To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout to God with the voice of triumph.{To the chief Musician. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.} All ye peoples, clap your hands; shout unto God with the voice of triumph!A psalm of a canticle, for the sons of Core, on the second day of the week.
Psalms 47:2For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.For Jehovah, the Most High, is terrible, a great king over all the earth.Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Psalms 47:3He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.He subdueth the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet.With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.
Psalms 47:4He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellence of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.He hath chosen our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.In her houses shall God be known, when he shall protect her.
Psalms 47:5God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.God is gone up amid shouting, Jehovah amid the sound of the trumpet.For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: they gathered together.
Psalms 47:6Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises to our King, sing praises.Sing psalms of God, sing psalms; sing psalms unto our King, sing psalms!So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved:
Psalms 47:7For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.For God is the King of all the earth; sing psalms with understanding.trembling took hold of them. There were pains as of a woman in labour.
Psalms 47:8God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.
Psalms 47:9The princes of the people are assembled, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong to God: he is greatly exalted.The willing-hearted of the peoples have gathered together, [with] the people of the God of Abraham. For unto God [belong] the shields of the earth: he is greatly exalted.As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God hath founded it for ever.
