Psalms 42:1To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so my soul panteth after thee, O God.{To the chief Musician. An instruction; of the sons of Korah.} As the hart panteth after the water-brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy : deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.To the Overseer. An Instruction. By sons of Korah. As a hart doth pant for streams of water, So my soul panteth toward Thee, O God.
Psalms 42:2My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?My soul thirsteth for God, for the living ùGod: when shall I come and appear before God?For thou art God my strength : why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?My soul thirsted for God, for the living God, When do I enter and see the face of God?
Psalms 42:3My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is thy God?My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?Send forth thy light and thy truth : they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles. My tear hath been to me bread day and night, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`
Psalms 42:4When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy-day.These things I remember and have poured out my soul within me: how I passed along with the multitude, how I went on with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a festive multitude. And I will go in to the altar of God : to God who giveth joy to my youth. These I remember, and pour out my soul in me, For I pass over into the booth, I go softly with them unto the house of God, With the voice of singing and confession, The multitude keeping feast!
Psalms 42:5Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Why art thou cast down, my soul, and art disquieted in me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [for] the health of his countenance. To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp : why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? Yea, art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him: The salvation of my countenance My God!
Psalms 42:6O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. My God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore do I remember thee from the land of the Jordan, and the Hermons, from mount Mizar.Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God.In me doth my soul bow itself, Therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan, And of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.
Psalms 42:7Deep calleth to deep at the noise of thy water-spouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy cataracts; all thy breakers and thy billows are gone over me.Deep unto deep is calling At the noise of Thy water-spouts, All Thy breakers and Thy billows passed over me.
Psalms 42:8Yet the LORD will command his loving-kindness in the day-time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer to the God of my life.In the day-time will Jehovah command his loving-kindness, and in the night his song shall be with me, a prayer unto the ùGod of my life.By day Jehovah commandeth His kindness, And by night a song [is] with me, A prayer to the God of my life.
Psalms 42:9I will say to God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?I will say unto ùGod my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?I say to God my rock, `Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning in the oppression of an enemy?
Psalms 42:10As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, Where is thy God?As with a crushing in my bones mine adversaries reproach me, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?With a sword in my bones Have mine adversaries reproached me, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`
Psalms 42:11Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.Why art thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!
