Acts 13:1Now there were in Antioch, in the Church there as Prophets and teachers barnabas, Symeon surnamed `the black,' Lucius the Cyrenaean, Manaen (who was Herod the Tetrarch's foster-brother), and Saul.Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was [there], prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Symeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. Now there were at Antioch, in the church there, prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Symeon who was named Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, a relation of Herod the king, and Saul.And there were certain in Antioch, in the assembly there, prophets and teachers; both Barnabas, and Simeon who is called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also Herod the tetrarch`s foster-brother and Saul;
Acts 13:2While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me, now at once, Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them."And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And while they were doing the Lord's work, and going without food, the Holy Spirit said, Let Barnabas and Saul be given to me for the special work for which they have been marked out by me.and in their ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, `Separate ye to me both Barnabas and Saul to the work to which I have called them,`
Acts 13:3So, after fasting and prayer and the laying on of hands, they let them go.Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. Then, after prayer and going without food they put their hands on them, and sent them away.then having fasted, and having prayed, and having laid the hands on them, they sent [them] away.
Acts 13:4They therefore, being thus sent out by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleuceia, and from there sailed to Cyprus.So they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia; and from there they went by ship to Cyprus.These, indeed, then, having been sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, thence also they sailed to Cyprus,
Acts 13:5Having reached Salamis, they began to announce God's Message in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John as their assistant.And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant. And at Salamis they were preaching the word of God in the Synagogues of the Jews: and John was with them, helping them.and having come unto Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews, and they had also John [as] a ministrant;
Acts 13:6When they had gone through the whole length of the island as far as Paphos, they there met with a Jewish magician and false prophet, Bar-Jesus by name,And when they had gone through the whole island unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus; And when they had gone through all the island to Paphos, they came across a certain wonder-worker and false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus;and having gone through the island unto Paphos, they found a certain magian, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name [is] Bar-Jesus;
Acts 13:7who was a friend of the Proconsul Sergius Paulus. The Proconsul was a man of keen intelligence. He sent for Barnabas and Saul, and asked to be told God's Message.who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. The same called unto him Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God. Who was with the ruler, Sergius Paulus, an able man. This man sent for Barnabas and Saul, desiring to have knowledge of the word of God.who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man; this one having called for Barnabas and Saul, did desire to hear the word of God,
Acts 13:8But Elymas (or `the Magician,' for such is the meaning of the name) opposed them, and tried to prevent the Proconsul from accepting the faith.But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith. But Elymas, the wonder-worker (for that is the sense of his name), put himself against them, with the purpose of turning the ruler from the faith.and there withstood them Elymas the magian for so is his name interpreted seeking to pervert the proconsul from the faith.
Acts 13:9Then Saul, who is also called Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and, fixing his eyes on Elymas,But Saul, who is also [called] Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him, But Saul, whose other name is Paul, being full of the Holy Spirit, looking hard at him, said,And Saul who also [is] Paul having been filled with the Holy Spirit, and having looked stedfastly on him,
Acts 13:10said, "You who are full of every kind of craftiness and unscrupulous cunning you son of the Devil and foe to all that is right will you never cease to misrepresent the straight paths of the Lord?and said, O full of all guile and all villany, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? O you, who are full of false tricks and evil ways, a son of the Evil One, hating all righteousness, will you for ever be turning people from the right ways of the Lord?said, `O full of all guile, and all profligacy, son of a devil, enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease perverting the right ways of the Lord?
Acts 13:11The Lord's hand is now upon you, and you will be blind for a time and unable to see the light of day." Instantly there fell upon him a mist and a darkness, and, as he walked about, he begged people to lead him by the hand.And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. And now, see, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind and not able to see the sun for a time. And straight away a dark mist came down on him; and he went about looking for a guide.and now, lo, a hand of the Lord [is] upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season;` and presently there fell upon him a mist and darkness, and he, going about, was seeking some to lead [him] by the hand;
Acts 13:12Then the Proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being struck with amazement at the teaching of the Lord.Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord. Then the ruler, when he saw what was done, had faith, being full of wonder at the teaching of the Lord.then the proconsul having seen what hath come to pass, did believe, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Acts 13:13From Paphos, Paul and his party put out to sea and sailed to Perga in Pamphylia. John, however, left them and returned to Jerusalem.Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem. Then Paul and those who were with him went by ship from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and there John went away from them and came back to Jerusalem.And those about Paul having set sail from Paphos, came to Perga of Pamphylia, and John having departed from them, did turn back to Jerusalem,
Acts 13:14But they themselves, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch in Pisidia. Here, on the Sabbath day, they went into the synagogue and sat down.But they, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia; and they went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. But they, going through from Perga, came to Antioch in Pisidia; and they went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath and were seated.and they having gone through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia, and having gone into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, they sat down,
Acts 13:15After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the Wardens of the synagogue sent word to them. "Brethren," they said, "if you have anything encouraging to say to the people, speak."And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the Synagogue sent to them, saying, Brothers, if you have a word of comfort for the people, say on.and after the reading of the law and of the prophets, the chief men of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, `Men, brethren, if there be a word in you of exhortation unto the people say on.`
Acts 13:16So Paul rose, and motioning with his hand for silence, said, "Israelites, and you others who fear God, pay attention to me.And Paul stood up, and beckoning with the hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, hearken: And Paul, getting up and making a sign with his hand, said, Men of Israel, and you who have the fear of God, give ear.And Paul having risen, and having beckoned with the hand, said, `Men, Israelites, and those fearing God, hearken:
Acts 13:17The God of this people of Israel chose our forefathers, and made the people great during their stay in Egypt, until with wondrous power He brought them out from that land.The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm led he them forth out of it. The God of this people Israel made selection of our fathers, lifting the people up from their low condition when they were living in the land of Egypt, and with a strong arm took them out of it.the God of this people Israel did choose our fathers, and the people He did exalt in their sojourning in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm did He bring them out of it;
Acts 13:18For a period of about forty years, He fed them, like a nurse, in the Desert.And for about the time of forty years as a nursing-father bare he them in the wilderness. And for about forty years he put up with their ways in the waste land.and about a period of forty years He did suffer their manners in the wilderness,
Acts 13:19Then, after overthrowing seven nations in the land of Canaan, He divided that country among them as their inheritance for about four hundred and fifty years;And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave [them] their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years: And having put to destruction seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them the land for their heritage for about four hundred and fifty years.and having destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He did divide by lot to them their land.
Acts 13:20and afterwards He gave them judges down to the time of the Prophet Samuel.and after these things he gave [them] judges until Samuel the prophet. And after these things he gave them judges, till the time of Samuel the prophet.`And after these things, about four hundred and fifty years, He gave judges till Samuel the prophet;
Acts 13:21Next they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a Benjamite, who reigned forty years.And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years. Then at their request for a king, God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the family of Benjamin, who was their king for forty years.and thereafter they asked for a king, and God did give to them Saul, son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years;
Acts 13:22After removing him, He raised up David to be their king, to whom He also bore witness when He said, "`I have found David the son of Jesse, a man I love, who will obey all My commands.'And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who shall do all My will. And having put him on one side, he made David their king, to whom he gave witness, saying, I have taken David, the son of Jesse, a man dear to my heart, who will do all my pleasure.and having removed him, He did raise up to them David for king, to whom also having testified, he said, I found David, the [son] of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who shall do all My will.
Acts 13:23"It is from among David's descendants that God, in fulfilment of His promise, has raised up a Saviour for Israel, even Jesus.Of this man's seed hath God according to promise brought unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus; From this man's seed has God given to Israel a Saviour, even Jesus, as he gave his word;`Of this one`s seed God, according to promise, did raise to Israel a Saviour Jesus,
Acts 13:24Before the coming of Jesus, John had proclaimed to all the people of Israel a baptism of repentance.when John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. For whose coming John made ready the way by preaching to all the people of Israel the baptism which goes with a change of heart.John having first preached, before his coming, a baptism of reformation to all the people of Israel;
Acts 13:25But John, towards the end of his career, repeatedly asked the people, "`What do you suppose me to be? I am not the Christ. But there is One coming after me whose sandal I am not worthy to unfasten.'And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not [he]. But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose. And when John was completing his work, he said, What do I seem to you to be? I am not he; but one is coming after me, whose shoes I am not good enough to undo.and as John was fulfilling the course, he said, Whom me do ye suppose to be? I am not [he], but, lo, he doth come after me, of whom I am not worthy to loose the sandal of [his] feet.
Acts 13:26"Brethren, descendants of the family of Abraham, and all among you who fear God, to us has this Message of salvation been sent.Brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth. My brothers, children of the family of Abraham, and those among you who have the fear of God, to us the word of this salvation is sent.`Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, and those among you fearing God, to you was the word of this salvation sent,
Acts 13:27For the people of Jerusalem and their rulers, by the judgement they pronounced on Jesus, have actually fulfilled the predictions of the Prophets which are read Sabbath after Sabbath, through ignorance of those predictions and of Him.For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled [them] by condemning [him]. For the men of Jerusalem and their rulers, having no knowledge of him, or of the sayings of the prophets which come to their ears every Sabbath day, gave effect to them by judging him.for those dwelling in Jerusalem, and their chiefs, this one not having known, also the voices of the prophets, which every sabbath are being read having judged [him] did fulfill,
Acts 13:28Without having found Him guilty of any capital offence they urged Pilate to have Him put to death;And though they found no cause of death [in him], yet asked they of Pilate that he should be slain. And though no cause of death was seen in him, they made a request to Pilate that he might be put to death.and no cause of death having found, they did ask of Pilate that he should be slain,
Acts 13:29and when they had carried out everything which had been written about Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. And when they had done all the things said in the Writings about him, they took him down from the tree, and put him in the place of the dead.and when they did complete all the things written about him, having taken [him] down from the tree, they laid him in a tomb;
Acts 13:30"But God raised Him from the dead.But God raised him from the dead: But God gave him back from the dead:and God did raise him out of the dead,
Acts 13:31And, after a few days, He appeared to the people who had gone up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem and are now witnesses concerning Him to the Jews.and he was seen for many days of them that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people. And for a number of days he was seen by those who came with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses before the people.and he was seen for many days of those who did come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
Acts 13:32And we bring you the Good News about the promise made to our forefathers,And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers, And we are giving you the good news of the undertaking made to the fathers,`And we to you do proclaim good news that the promise made unto the fathers,
Acts 13:33that God has amply fulfilled it to our children in raising up Jesus; as it is also written in the second Psalm, `Thou art My Son: to-day I have become Thy Father.'that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Which God has now put into effect for our children, by sending Jesus; as it says in the second Psalm, You are my Son; this day I have given you being.God hath in full completed this to us their children, having raised up Jesus, as also in the second Psalm it hath been written, My Son thou art I to-day have begotten thee.
Acts 13:34And as to His having raised Him from among the dead, never again to be in the position of one soon to return to decay, He speaks thus: `I will give you the holy and trustworthy promises made to David.'And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will give you the holy and sure [blessings] of David. And about his coming back from the dead, never again to go to destruction, he has said these words, I will give you the holy and certain mercies of David.`And that He did raise him up out of the dead, no more to return to corruption, he hath said thus I will give to you the faithful kindnesses of David;
Acts 13:35Because in another Psalm also He says, `Thou wilt not give up Thy Holy One to undergo decay.'Because he saith also in another [psalm], Thou wilt not give Thy Holy One to see corruption. Because he says in another Psalm, You will not let your Holy One see destruction.wherefore also in another [place] he saith, Thou shalt not give Thy kind One to see corruption,
Acts 13:36For David, after having been useful to his own generation in accordance with God's purpose, did fall asleep, was gathered to his forefathers, and did undergo decay.For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: Now David, having done God's work for his generation, went to sleep, and was put with his fathers, and his body came to destruction:for David, indeed, his own generation having served by the will of God, did fall asleep, and was added unto his fathers, and saw corruption,
Acts 13:37But He whom God raised to life underwent no decay.but he whom God raised up saw no corruption. But he, who was lifted up by God, did not see destruction.but he whom God did raise up, did not see corruption.
Acts 13:38"Understand therefore, brethren, that through this Jesus forgiveness of sins is announced to you;Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins: And so, let it be clear to you, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is offered to you:`Let it therefore be known to you, men, brethren, that through this one to you is the forgiveness of sins declared,
Acts 13:39and in Him every believer is absolved from all offences, from which you could not be absolved under the Law of Moses.and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. And through him everyone who has faith is made free from all those things, from which the law of Moses was not able to make you free.and from all things from which ye were not able in the law of Moses to be declared righteous, in this one every one who is believing is declared righteous;
Acts 13:40Beware, then, lest what is spoken in the Prophets should come true of you:Beware therefore, lest that come upon [you] which is spoken in the prophets: So take care that these words of the prophets do not come true for you;see, therefore, it may not come upon you that hath been spoken in the prophets:
Acts 13:41`Behold, you despisers, be astonished and perish, because I am carrying on a work in your time a work which you will utterly refuse to believe, though it be fully declared to you.'"Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which ye shall in no wise believe, if one declare it unto you. See, you doubters, have wonder and come to your end; for I will do a thing in your days to which you will not give belief, even if it is made clear to you.See, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish, because a work I I do work in your days, a work in which ye may not believe, though any one may declare [it] to you.`
Acts 13:42As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people earnestly begged to have all this repeated to them on the following Sabbath.And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath. And when they went out, they made a request that these words might be said to them again on the Sabbath after.And having gone forth out of the synagogue of the Jews, the nations were calling upon [them] that on the next sabbath these sayings may be spoken to them,
Acts 13:43And, when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout converts from heathenism continued with Paul and Barnabas, who talked to them and urged them to hold fast to the grace of God.Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God. Now when the meeting was ended, a number of the Jews and of the God-fearing Gentiles who had become Jews, went after Paul and Barnabas: who put before them how important it was to keep on in the grace of God.and the synagogue having been dismissed, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes did follow Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were persuading them to remain in the grace of God.
Acts 13:44On the next Sabbath almost the whole population of the city came together to hear the Lord's Message.And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God. And on the Sabbath after, almost all the town came together to give hearing to the word of God.And on the coming sabbath, almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of God,
Acts 13:45Seeing the crowds, the Jews, filled with angry jealousy, opposed Paul's statements and abused him.But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed. But when the Jews saw such a great number of people, they were full of envy and said evil words against Paul's preaching.and the Jews having seen the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and did contradict the things spoken by Paul contradicting and speaking evil.
Acts 13:46Then, throwing off all reserve, Paul and Barnabas said, "We were bound to proclaim God's Message to you first. But since you spurn it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of the Life of the Ages well, we turn to the Gentiles.And Paul and Barnabas spake out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Then Paul and Barnabas without fear said, It was necessary for the word of God to be given to you first; but because you will have nothing to do with it, and have no desire for eternal life, it will now be offered to the Gentiles.And speaking boldly, Paul and Barnabas said, `To you it was necessary that first the word of God be spoken, and seeing ye do thrust it away, and do not judge yourselves worthy of the life age-during, lo, we do turn to the nations;
Acts 13:47For such is the Lord's command to us. "`I have placed Thee,' He says of Christ, `as a light to the Gentiles, in order that Thou mayest be a Saviour as far as the remotest parts of the earth.'"For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth. For so the Lord has given us orders, saying, I have given you for a light to the Gentiles so that you may be for salvation to the ends of the earth.for so hath the Lord commanded us: I have set thee for a light of nations for thy being for salvation unto the end of the earth.`
Acts 13:48The Gentiles listened with delight and extolled the Lord's Message; and all who were pre-destined to the Life of the Ages believed.And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the Gentiles, hearing this, were glad and gave glory to the word of God: and those marked out by God for eternal life had faith.And the nations hearing were glad, and were glorifying the word of the Lord, and did believe as many as were appointed to life age-during;
Acts 13:49So the Lord's Message spread through the whole district.And the word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region. And the word of the Lord went through all the country.and the word of the Lord was spread abroad through all the region.
Acts 13:50But the Jews influenced the gentlewomen of rank who worshipped with them, and also the leading men in the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and drove them out of the district.But the Jews urged on the devout women of honorable estate, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their borders. But the Jews, working up the feelings of the God-fearing women of high position and of the chief men of the town, got an attack started against Paul and Barnabas, driving them out of those parts.And the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the first men of the city, and did raise persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and did put them out from their borders;
Acts 13:51But they shook off the dust from their feet as a protest against them and came to Iconium;But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. But they, shaking off the dust of that place from their feet, came to Iconium.and they having shaken off the dust of their feet against them, came to Iconium,
Acts 13:52and as for the disciples, they were more and more filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.And the disciples were filled with joy with the Holy Spirit. And the disciples were full of joy and of the Holy Spirit.and the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
