| 2nd-Corinthians 9:1 | As to the services which are being rendered to God's people, it is really unnecessary for me to write to you. | But there is no need for me to say anything in my letter about the giving to the saints: | It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints, | For concerning the ministry that is done towards the saints, it is superfluous for me to write unto you. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:2 | For I know your earnest willingness, on account of which I habitually boast of you to the Macedonians, pointing out to them that for a whole year you in Greece have been ready; and the greater number of them have been spurred on by your ardour. | For I have before made clear to those of Macedonia my pride in your ready mind, saying to them that Achaia has been ready for a year back; and a great number have been moved to do the same by your example. | for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them. | For I know your forward mind: for which I boast of you to the Macedonians. That Achaia also is ready from the year past, and your emulation hath provoked very many. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:3 | Still I send the brethren in order that in this matter our boast about you may not turn out to have been an idle one; so that, as I have said, you may be ready; | But I have sent the brothers, so that the good things we said about you may be seen to be true, and that, as I said, you may be ready: | But I have sent the brothers, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect, that, even as I said, you may be prepared, | Now I have sent the brethren, that the thing which we boast of concerning you, be not made void in this behalf, that (as I have said) you may be ready: |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:4 | for fear that, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we not to say you yourselves should be put to the blush in respect to this confidence. | For fear that, if any from Macedonia come with me, and you are not ready, we (not to say, you) might be put to shame in this thing. | so that I won't by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) should be put to shame in this confident boasting. | Lest, when the Macedonians shall come with me, and find you unprepared, we (not to say ye) should be ashamed in this matter. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:5 | I have thought it absolutely necessary therefore to request these brethren to visit you before I myself come, and to make sure beforehand that the gift of love which you have already promised may be ready as a gift of love, and may not seem to have been something which I have extorted from you. | So it seemed to me wise for the brothers to go before, and see that the amount which you had undertaken to give was ready, so that it might be a cause for praise, and not as if we were making profit out of you. | I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness. | Therefore I thought it necessary to desire the brethren that they would go to you before, and prepare this blessing before promised, to be ready, so as a blessing, not as covetousness. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:6 | But do not forget that he who sows with a niggardly hand will also reap a niggardly crop, and that he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. | But in the Writings it says, He who puts in only a small number of seeds, will get in the same; and he who puts them in from a full hand, will have produce in full measure from them. | Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. | Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly, shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings, shall also reap blessings. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:7 | Let each contribute what he has decided upon in his own mind, and not do it reluctantly or under compulsion. "It is a cheerful giver that God loves." | Let every man do after the purpose of his heart; not giving with grief, or by force: for God takes pleasure in a ready giver. | Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. | Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:8 | And God is able to bestow every blessing on you in abundance, so that richly enjoying all sufficiency at all times, you may have ample means for all good works. | And God is able to give you all grace in full measure; so that ever having enough of all things, you may be full of every good work: | God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. | And God is able to make all grace abound in you; that ye always, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work, |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:9 | As it is written, "He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his almsgiving remains for ever." | As it is said in the Writings, He has sent out far and wide, he has given to the poor; his righteousness is for ever. | As it is written, "He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever." | As it is written: He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:10 | And God who continually supplies seed for the sower and bread for eating, will supply you with seed and multiply it, and will cause your almsgiving to yield a plentiful harvest. | And he who gives seed for putting into the field and bread for food, will take care of the growth of your seed, at the same time increasing the fruits of your righteousness; | Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; | And he that ministereth seed to the sower, will both give you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and increase the growth of the fruits of your justice: |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:11 | May you be abundantly enriched so as to show all liberality, such as through our instrumentality brings thanksgiving to God. | Your wealth being increased in everything, with a simple mind, causing praise to God through us. | you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God. | That being enriched in all things, you may abound unto all simplicity, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:12 | For the service rendered in this sacred gift not only helps to relieve the wants of God's people, but it is also rich in its results and awakens a chorus of thanksgiving to God. | For this work of giving not only takes care of the needs of the saints, but is the cause of much praise to God; | For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the saints, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to God; | Because the administration of this office doth not only supply the want of the saints, but aboundeth also by many thanksgivings in the Lord, |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:13 | For, by the practical proof of it which you exhibit in this service, you cause God to be extolled for your fidelity to your professed adherence to the Good News of the Christ, and for the liberality of your contributions for them and for all who are in need, | For when, through this work of giving, they see what you are, they give glory to God for the way in which you have given yourselves to the good news of Christ, and for the wealth of your giving to them and to all; | seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all; | By the proof of this ministry, glorifying God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the simplicity of your communicating unto them, and unto all. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:14 | while they themselves also in supplications on your behalf pour out their longing love towards you because of God's surpassing grace which is resting upon you. | While their hearts go out to you in love and in prayer for you, because of the great grace of God which is in you. | while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you. | And in their praying for you, being desirous of you, because of the excellent grace of God in you. |
| 2nd-Corinthians 9:15 | Thanks be to God for His unspeakably precious gift! | Praise be to God for what he has given, which words have no power to say. | Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift! | Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift. |
