2nd-Timothy 1:1Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus, by the will of God, for proclaiming the promise of the Life which is in Christ Jesus:Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the purpose of God, in the hope of the life which is in Christ Jesus,
2nd-Timothy 1:2To Timothy my dearly-loved child. May grace, mercy and peace be granted to you from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.To Timothy, my well-loved child: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
2nd-Timothy 1:3I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience as my forefathers did that night and day I unceasingly remember you in my prayers,I give praise to God, whose servant I have been, with a heart free from sin, from the time of my fathers, because in my prayers at all times the thought of you is with me, night and day
2nd-Timothy 1:4being always mindful of your tears, and longing to see you that I may be filled with joy.Desiring to see you, keeping in my memory your weeping, so that I may be full of joy;
2nd-Timothy 1:5For I recall the sincere faith which is in your heart a faith which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and then in your mother Eunice, and, I am fully convinced, now dwells in you also.Having in mind your true faith, which first was in your mother's mother Lois, and in your mother Eunice, and, I am certain, is now in you.
2nd-Timothy 1:6For this reason let me remind you to rekindle God's gift which is yours through the laying on of my hands.For this reason I say to you, Let that grace of God which is in you, given to you by my hands, have living power.
2nd-Timothy 1:7For the Spirit which God has given us is not a spirit of cowardice, but one of power and of love and of sound judgement.For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-control.
2nd-Timothy 1:8Do not be ashamed then to bear witness for our Lord and for me His prisoner; but rather share suffering with me in the service of the Good News, strengthened by the power of God.Have no feeling of shame, then, for the witness of our Lord or for me, his prisoner: but undergo all things for the good news in the measure of the power of God;
2nd-Timothy 1:9For He saved us and called us with a holy call, not in accordance with our desserts, but in accordance with His own purpose and the free grace which He bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before the commencement of the Ages,Who gave us salvation, marking us out for his purpose, not on account of our works, but in the measure of his purpose and his grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,
2nd-Timothy 1:10but which has now been plainly revealed through the Appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus. He has put an end to death and has brought Life and Immortality to light through the Good News,But has now been made clear by the revelation of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who put an end to death and made life unending come to light through the good news,
2nd-Timothy 1:11of which I have been appointed a preacher, Apostle and teacher, to the Gentiles.Of which I was made a preacher and an Apostle and a teacher;
2nd-Timothy 1:12That indeed is the reason why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know in whom my trust reposes, and I am confident that He has it in His power to keep what I have entrusted to Him safe until that day.And for which I undergo these things: but I have no feeling of shame. For I have knowledge of him in whom I have faith, and I am certain that he is able to keep that which I have given into his care till that day.
2nd-Timothy 1:13Provide yourself with an outline of the sound teaching which you have heard from my lips, and be true to the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.Keep the form of those true words which you had from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
2nd-Timothy 1:14That precious treasure which is in your charge, guard through the Holy Spirit who has His home in our hearts.That good thing which was given to you keep safe, through the Holy Spirit which is in us.
2nd-Timothy 1:15Of this you are aware, that all the Christians in Roman Asia have deserted me: and among them Phygelus and Hermogenes.You have had news that all those in Asia went away from me; among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes:
2nd-Timothy 1:16May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus; for many a time he cheered me and he was not ashamed of my chain.May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus because he frequently gave me help, and had no feeling of shame because I was in chains;
2nd-Timothy 1:17Nay, when he was here in Rome, he took great pains to inquire where I was living, and at last he found me.But when he was in Rome, he went in search of me everywhere, and came to me
2nd-Timothy 1:18(The Lord grant that he may obtain mercy at His hands on that day!) And you yourself well know all the services which he rendered me in Ephesus.(May he have the Lord's mercy in that day); and of all he did for me at Ephesus you have full knowledge.
