| Psalms 42:1 | As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul after you, God. | As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God. | A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy : deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man. | {To the chief Musician. An instruction; of the sons of Korah.} As the hart panteth after the water-brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. |
| Psalms 42:2 | My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? | My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God? | For thou art God my strength : why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me? | My soul thirsteth for God, for the living ùGod: when shall I come and appear before God? |
| Psalms 42:3 | My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?" | My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? | Send forth thy light and thy truth : they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles. | My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God? |
| Psalms 42:4 | These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, How I used to go with the crowd, and led them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day. | These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, How I went with the throng, and led them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday. | And I will go in to the altar of God : to God who giveth joy to my youth. | These things I remember and have poured out my soul within me: how I passed along with the multitude, how I went on with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a festive multitude. |
| Psalms 42:5 | Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. | Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And [why] art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him [For] the help of his countenance. | To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp : why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? | Why art thou cast down, my soul, and art disquieted in me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [for] the health of his countenance. |
| Psalms 42:6 | My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, The heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar. | O my God, my soul is cast down within me: Therefore do I remember thee from the land of the Jordan, And the Hermons, from the hill Mizar. | Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God. | My God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore do I remember thee from the land of the Jordan, and the Hermons, from mount Mizar. |
| Psalms 42:7 | Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me. | Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterfalls: All thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. | | Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy cataracts; all thy breakers and thy billows are gone over me. |
| Psalms 42:8 | Yahweh will command his lovingkindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: A prayer to the God of my life. | [Yet] Jehovah will command his lovingkindness in the day-time; And in the night his song shall be with me, [Even] a prayer unto the God of my life. | | In the day-time will Jehovah command his loving-kindness, and in the night his song shall be with me, a prayer unto the ùGod of my life. |
| Psalms 42:9 | I will ask God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?" | I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? | | I will say unto ùGod my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? |
| Psalms 42:10 | As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?" | As with a sword in my bones, mine adversaries reproach me, While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? | | As with a crushing in my bones mine adversaries reproach me, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God? |
