| 1st-Thessalonians 2:1 | For you yourselves know, brothers, our visit to you hasn't been found vain, | For you yourselves, brothers, are conscious that our coming among you was not without effect: | For ye know yourselves, brethren, our entering in which [we had] to you, that it has not been in vain; | For yourselves know, brethren, our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:2 | but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we grew bold in our God to tell you the gospel of God in much conflict. | But after we had first undergone much pain and been cruelly attacked as you saw, at Philippi, by the help of God we gave you the good news without fear, though everything was against us. | but, having suffered before and been insulted, even as ye know, in Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the glad tidings of God with much earnest striving. | But having suffered many things before, and been shamefully treated (as you know) at Philippi, we had confidence in our God, to speak unto you the gospel of God in much carefulness. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:3 | For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deception. | For our witness does not come from error or from an unclean heart or from deceit: | For our exhortation [was] not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile; | For our exhortation was not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deceit: |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:4 | But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts. | But even as the good news was given to us by the approval of God, so we give it out; not as pleasing men, but God by whom our hearts are tested. | but even as we have been approved of God to have the glad tidings entrusted to us, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who proves our hearts. | But as we were approved by God that the gospel should be committed to us: even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who proveth our hearts. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:5 | For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness), | For it is common knowledge among you that we never made use of smooth-sounding false words, and God is witness that at no time were we secretly desiring profit for ourselves, | For we have not at any time been [among you] with flattering discourse, even as ye know, nor with a pretext for covetousness, God [is] witness; | For neither have we used, at any time, the speech of flattery, as you know; nor taken an occasion of covetousness, God is witness: |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:6 | nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ. | Or looking for glory from men, from you or from others, when we might have made ourselves a care to you as Apostles of Christ. | nor seeking glory from men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have been a charge as Christ's apostles; | Nor sought we glory of men, neither of you, nor of others. 7 Whereas we might have been burdensome to you, as the apostles of Christ: but we became little ones in the midst of you, as if a nurse should cherish her children: |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:7 | But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherishes her own children. | But we were gentle among you, like a woman caring for her little ones: | but have been gentle in the midst of you, as a nurse would cherish her own children. | So desirous of you, we would gladly impart unto you not only the gospel of God, but also our own souls: because you were become most dear unto us. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:8 | Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us. | Even so, being full of loving desire for you, we took delight in giving you not only God's good news, but even our lives, because you were dear to us. | Thus, yearning over you, we had found our delight in having imparted to you not only the glad tidings of God, but our own lives also, because ye had become beloved of us. | For you remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, lest we should be chargeable to any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:9 | For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail. Working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God. | For you have the memory, my brothers, of our trouble and care; how, working night and day, so that we might not be a trouble to any of you, we gave you the good news of God. | For ye remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, not to be chargeable to any one of you, we have preached to you the glad tidings of God. | You are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and justly, and without blame, we have been to you that have believed: |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:10 | You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe. | You are witnesses, with God, how holy and upright and free from all evil was our way of life among you who have faith; | *Ye* [are] witnesses, and God, how piously and righteously and blamelessly we have conducted ourselves with you that believe: | As you know in what manner, entreating and comforting you, (as a father doth his children,) |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:11 | As you know how we exhorted, comforted, and implored everyone of you, as a father does his own children, | Even as you saw how, like a father with his children, we were teaching and comforting you all, and giving witness, | as ye know how, as a father his own children, we used to exhort each one of you, and comfort and testify, | We testified to every one of you, that you would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:12 | to the end that you should walk worthily of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory. | So that your lives might be pleasing to God, who has given you a part in his kingdom and his glory. | that ye should walk worthy of God, who calls you to his own kingdom and glory. | Therefore, we also give thanks to God without ceasing: because, that when you had received of us the word of the hearing of God, you received it not as the word of men, but (as it is indeed) the word of God, who worketh in you that have believed. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:13 | For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe. | And for this cause we still give praise to God, that, when the word came to your ears through us, you took it, not as the word of man, but, as it truly is, the word of God, which has living power in you who have faith. | And for this cause we also give thanks to God unceasingly that, having received [the] word of [the] report of God by us, ye accepted, not men's word, but, even as it is truly, God's word, which also works in you who believe. | For you, brethren, are become followers of the churches of God which are in Judea, in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered the same things from your own coutrymen, even as they have from the Jews, |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:14 | For you, brothers, became imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus; for you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews; | For you, my brothers, took as your examples the churches of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; because you underwent the same things from your countrymen as they did from the Jews; | For *ye*, brethren, have become imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; for *ye* also have suffered the same things of your own countrymen as also *they* of the Jews, | Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us, and please not God, and are adversaries to all men; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:15 | who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and didn't please God, and are contrary to all men; | Who put to death the Lord Jesus and the prophets, violently driving us out; who are unpleasing to God and against all men; | who have both slain the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and have driven us out by persecution, and do not please God, and [are] against all men, | Prohibiting us to speak to the Gentiles, that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath of God is come upon them to the end. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:16 | forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost. | Who, to make the measure of their sins complete, kept us from giving the word of salvation to the Gentiles: but the wrath of God is about to come on them in the fullest degree. | forbidding us to speak to the nations that they may be saved, that they may fill up their sins always: but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost. | But we, brethren, being taken away from you for a short time, in sight, not in heart, have hastened the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:17 | But we, brothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, tried even harder to see your face with great desire, | But we, my brothers, being away from you for a short time, in body but not in heart, had all the more desire to see your face; | But we, brethren, having been bereaved of you and separated for a little moment in person, not in heart, have used more abundant diligence to see your face with much desire; | For we would have come unto you, I Paul indeed, once and again: but Satan hath hindered us. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:18 | because we wanted to come to you indeed, I, Paul, once and again but Satan hindered us. | For which reason we made attempts to come to you, even I, Paul, once and again; but Satan kept us from coming. | wherefore we have desired to come to you, even I Paul, both once and twice, and Satan has hindered us. | For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of glory? Are not you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:19 | For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Isn't it even you, before our Lord Jesus at his coming? | For what is our hope or joy or crown of glory? Are not even you, before our Lord Jesus, at his coming? | For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? [are] not *ye* also before our Lord Jesus at his coming? | For you are our glory and joy. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 2:20 | For you are our glory and our joy. | For you are our glory and our joy. | for ye are our glory and joy. | |
