Psalms 59:1Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.<To the chief music-maker; put to At-tashheth. Michtam. Of David. When Saul sent, and they were watching the house, to put him to death.> Take me out of the hands of the cruel ones, O my God; keep me safe from those who come up against me.Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the inscription of a title, to David himself, for doctrine,Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
Psalms 59:2Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.Take me out of the power of the workers of evil, and keep me safe from the men of blood.when he set fire to Mesopotamia of Syria and Sobal and Joab returned and slew of Edom, in the vale of the saltpits, twelve thousand men.Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
Psalms 59:3For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, Not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, Yahweh. For see, they are watching in secret for my soul; the strong have come together against me? but not because of my sin, or my evil-doing, O Lord.O God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us.For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
Psalms 59:4I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Rise up, behold, and help me!For no sin of mine they go quickly and get themselves ready; be awake and come to my help, and see.Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved. They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
Psalms 59:5You, Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel, Rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah. You, O Lord God of armies, are the God of Israel; come now and give punishment to the nations; have no mercy on any workers of deceit. (Selah.)Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us drink wine of sorrow.Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.
Psalms 59:6They return at evening, howling like dogs, And prowl around the city. They come back in the evening; they make a noise like a dog, and go round the town.Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: that they may flee from before the bow: That thy beloved may be delivered. They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
Psalms 59:7Behold, they spew with their mouth. Swords are in their lips, "For," they say, "who hears us?"See, hate is dropping from their lips; curses are on their tongues: they say, Who gives attention to it?Save me with thy right hand, and hear me.Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their li for who, say they, doth hear?
Psalms 59:8But you, Yahweh, laugh at them. You scoff at all the nations. But you are laughing at them, O Lord; you will make sport of all the nations.God hath spoken in his holy place: I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles. But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
Psalms 59:9Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, For God is my high tower.O my strength, I will put my hope in you; because God is my strong tower.Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: and Ephraim is the strength of my head. Juda is my king:Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
Psalms 59:10My God will go before me with his lovingkindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph. The God of my mercy will go before me: God will let me see my desire effected on my haters.Moab is the pot of my hope. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: to me the foreigners are made subject. The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
Psalms 59:11Don't kill them, or my people may forget. Scatter them by your power, and bring them down, Lord our shield.Put them not to death, for so my people will keep the memory of them: let them be sent in all directions by your power; make them low, O Lord our saviour.Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
Psalms 59:12For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, Let them be caught in their pride, For the curses and lies which they utter.Because of the sin of their mouths and the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and for their curses and their deceit,Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies? For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
Psalms 59:13Consume them in wrath. Consume them, and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob, To the ends of the earth. Selah.Put an end to them in your wrath, put an end to them, so that they may not be seen again; let them see that God is ruling in Jacob and to the ends of the earth. (Selah.)Give us help from trouble: for vain is the salvation of man.Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
Psalms 59:14At evening let them return. Let them howl like a dog, and go around the city. And in the evening let them come back, and make a noise like a dog, and go round the town.Through God we shall do mightily: and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us.And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
Psalms 59:15They shall wander up and down for food, And wait all night if they aren't satisfied.Let them go wandering up and down in search of food, and be there all night if they have not enough.Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
Psalms 59:16But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your lovingkindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, A refuge in the day of my distress. But I will make songs of your power; yes, I will give cries of joy for your mercy in the morning; because you have been my strength and my high tower in the day of my trouble. But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
Psalms 59:17To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy. Psalm 60 For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A teaching poem by David, when he fought with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.To you, O my strength, will I make my song: because God is my high tower, even the God of my mercy.Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
