Proverbs 27:1Don't boast about tomorrow; For you don't know what a day may bring forth.Do not make a noise about tomorrow, for you are not certain what a day's outcome may be.Boast not for to morrow, for thou knowest not what the day to come may bring forth.Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:2Let another man praise you, And not your own mouth; A stranger, and not your own lips.Let another man give you praise, and not your mouth; one who is strange to you, and not your lips.Let another praise thee, and not thy own mouth: a stranger, and not thy own lips.Let another man praise thee, and not thy own mouth; a stranger, and not thy own lips.
Proverbs 27:3A stone is heavy, And sand is a burden; But a fool's provocation is heavier than both.A stone has great weight, and sand is crushing; but the wrath of the foolish is of greater weight than these.A stone is heavy, and sand weighty: but the anger of a fool is heavier than them both.A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than both.
Proverbs 27:4Wrath is cruel, And anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy?Wrath is cruel, and angry feeling an overflowing stream; but who does not give way before envy?Anger hath no mercy, nor fury when it breaketh forth: and who can bear the violence of one provoked?Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
Proverbs 27:5Better is open rebuke Than hidden love.Better is open protest than love kept secret.Open rebuke is better than hidden love.Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Proverbs 27:6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; Although the kisses of an enemy are profuse. The wounds of a friend are given in good faith, but the kisses of a hater are false.Better are the wounds of a friend, than the deceitful kisses of an enemy.Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Proverbs 27:7A full soul loathes a honeycomb; But to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet. The full man has no use for honey, but to the man in need of food every bitter thing is sweet.A soul that is full shall tread upon the honeycomb : and a soul that is hungry shall take even bitter for sweet. The full soul lotheth a honey-comb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Proverbs 27:8As a bird that wanders from her nest, So is a man who wanders from his home.Like a bird wandering from the place of her eggs is a man wandering from his station. As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that leaveth his place. As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
Proverbs 27:9Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; So does earnest counsel from a man's friend.Oil and perfume make glad the heart, and the wise suggestion of a friend is sweet to the soul.Ointment and perfumes rejoice the heart: and the good counsels of a friend are sweet to the soul.Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
Proverbs 27:10Don't forsake your friend and your father's friend. Don't go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster: Better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.Do not give up your friend and your father's friend; and do not go into your brother's house in the day of your trouble: better is a neighbour who is near than a brother far off.Thy own friend, and thy father's friend forsake not: and go not into thy brother's house in the day of thy affliction. Better is a neighbour that is near, than a brother afar off.Thy own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbor that is near, than a brother far off.
Proverbs 27:11Be wise, my son, And bring joy to my heart, Then I can answer my tormentor. My son, be wise and make my heart glad, so that I may give back an answer to him who puts me to shame.Study wisdom, my son, and make my heart joyful, that thou mayst give an answer to him that reproacheth. My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Proverbs 27:12A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; But the simple pass on, and suffer for it:The sharp man sees the evil and takes cover: the simple go straight on and get into trouble. The prudent man seeing evil hideth himself: little ones passing on have suffered losses.A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Proverbs 27:13Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger; Hold it for a wayward woman!Take a man's clothing if he makes himself responsible for a strange man, and get an undertaking from him who gives his word for strange men.Take away his garment that hath been surety for a stranger: and take from him a pledge for strangers.Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Proverbs 27:14He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, It will be taken as a curse by him.He who gives a blessing to his friend with a loud voice, getting up early in the morning, will have it put to his account as a curse. He that blesseth his neighbour with a loud voice, rising in the night, shall be like to him that curseth. He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Proverbs 27:15A continual dropping on a rainy day And a contentious wife are alike:Like an unending dropping on a day of rain is a bitter-tongued woman.Roofs dropping through in a cold day, and a contentious woman are alike.A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
Proverbs 27:16Restraining her is like restraining the wind, Or like grasping oil in his right hand.He who keeps secret the secret of his friend, will get himself a name for good faith. He that retaineth her, is as he that would hold the wind, and shall call in the oil of his right hand.Whoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand which bewrayeth itself.
Proverbs 27:17Iron sharpens iron; So a man sharpens his friend's countenance.Iron makes iron sharp; so a man makes sharp his friend.Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Proverbs 27:18Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored.Whoever keeps a fig-tree will have its fruit; and the servant waiting on his master will be honoured. He that keepeth the fig tree, shall eat the fruit thereof: and he that is the keeper of his master, shall be glorified. He that keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit of it: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honored.
Proverbs 27:19As water reflects a face, So a man's heart reflects the man.Like face looking at face in water, so are the hearts of men to one another. As the faces of them that look therein, shine in the water, so-the hearts of men are laid open to the wise.As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
Proverbs 27:20Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; And a man's eyes are never satisfied. The underworld and Abaddon are never full, and the eyes of man have never enough.Hell and destruction are never filled: so the eyes of men are never satisfied.Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Proverbs 27:21The crucible is for silver, And the furnace for gold; But man is refined by his praise. The heating-pot is for silver and the oven-fire for gold, and a man is measured by what he is praised for.As silver is tried in the fining-pot and gold in the furnace: so a man is tried by the mouth of him that praiseth. The heart of the wicked seeketh after evils, but the righteous heart seeketh after knowledge. As the fining-pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
Proverbs 27:22Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, Yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.Even if a foolish man is crushed with a hammer in a vessel among crushed grain, still his foolish ways will not go from him.Though thou shouldst bray a fool in the mortar, as when a pestle striketh upon sodden barley, his folly would not be taken from him.Though thou shouldst bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
Proverbs 27:23Know well the state of your flocks, And pay attention to your herds:Take care to have knowledge about the condition of your flocks, looking well after your herds;Be diligent to know the countenance of thy cattle, and consider thy own flocks :Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Proverbs 27:24For riches are not forever, Nor does even the crown endure to all generations. For wealth is not for ever, and money does not go on for all generations. For thou shalt not always have power: but a crown shall be given to generation and generation. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
Proverbs 27:25The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, The grasses of the hills are gathered in.The grass comes up and the young grass is seen, and the mountain plants are got in.The meadows are open, and the green herbs have appeared, and the hay is gathered out of the mountains. The plant appeareth, and the tender grass showeth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
Proverbs 27:26The lambs are for your clothing, And the goats are the price of a field. The lambs are for your clothing, and the he-goats make the value of a field:Lambs are for thy clothing: and kids for the price of the field. The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
Proverbs 27:27There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, For your family's food, And for the nourishment of your servant girls. There will be goats' milk enough for your food, and for the support of your servant-girls.Let the milk of the goats be enough for thy food, and for the necessities of thy house, and for maintenance for thy handmaids. And thou shalt have goats milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for maintenance for thy maidens.
