Proverbs 6:1My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, If you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger; My son, if you have made yourself responsible for your neighbour, or given your word for another,My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, thou hast engaged fast thy hand to a stranger. My son, if thou art surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
Proverbs 6:2You are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth. You are taken as in a net by the words of your mouth, the sayings of your lips have overcome you.Thou art ensnared with the words of thy mouth, and caught with thy own words.Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Proverbs 6:3Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, Seeing you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.Do this, my son, and make yourself free, because you have come into the power of your neighbour; go without waiting, and make a strong request to your neighbour.Do therefore, my son, what I say, and deliver thyself: because thou art fallen into the hand of thy neighbour. Run about, make haste, stir up thy friend:Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
Proverbs 6:4Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.Give no sleep to your eyes, or rest to them;Give not sleep to thy eyes, neither let thy eyelids slumber.Give not sleep to thy eyes, nor slumber to thy eyelids.
Proverbs 6:5Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, Like a bird from the snare of the fowler.Make yourself free, like the roe from the hand of the archer, and the bird from him who puts a net for her.Deliver thyself as a doe from the hand, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Proverbs 6:6Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;Go to the ant, you hater of work; give thought to her ways and be wise:Go to the ant, O sluggard, and consider her ways, and learn wisdom:Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Proverbs 6:7Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler,Having no chief, overseer, or ruler,Which, although she hath no guide, nor master, nor captain,Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Proverbs 6:8Provides her bread in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. She gets her meat in the summer, storing up food at the time of the grain-cutting.Provideth her meat for herself in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.Provideth her provisions in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
Proverbs 6:9How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? How long will you be sleeping, O hater of work? when will you get up from your sleep? How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou rise out of thy sleep? How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Proverbs 6:10A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:A little sleep, a little rest, a little folding of the hands in sleep:Thou wilt sleep a little, thou wilt slumber a little, thou wilt fold thy hands a little to sleep:Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Proverbs 6:11So your poverty will come as a robber, And your scarcity as an armed man. Then loss will come on you like an outlaw, and your need like an armed manAnd want shall come upon thee, as a traveller, and poverty as a man armed. But if thou be diligent, thy harvest shall come as a fountain, and want shall flee far from thee.So shall thy poverty come as one that traveleth, and thy want as an armed man.
Proverbs 6:12A worthless person, a man of iniquity, Is he who walks with a perverse mouth;A good-for-nothing man is an evil-doer; he goes on his way causing trouble with false words;A man that is an apostate, an unprofitable man, walketh with a perverse mouth,A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
Proverbs 6:13Who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, Who motions with his fingers;Making signs with his eyes, rubbing with his feet, and giving news with his fingers;He winketh with the eyes, presseth with the foot, speaketh with the finger.He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
Proverbs 6:14In whose heart is perverseness, Who devises evil continually, Who always sows discord. His mind is ever designing evil: he lets loose violent acts. With a wicked heart he deviseth evil, and at all times he soweth discord.Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
Proverbs 6:15Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy. For this cause his downfall will be sudden; quickly he will be broken, and there will be no help for him.To such a one his destruction shall presently come, and he shall suddenly be destroyed, and shall no longer have any remedy. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
Proverbs 6:16There are six things which Yahweh hates; Yes, seven which are an abomination to him:Six things are hated by the Lord; seven things are disgusting to him:Six things there are, which the Lord hateth, and the seventh his soul detesteth:These six things doth the LORD hate: yes, seven are an abomination to him:
Proverbs 6:17Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood;Eyes of pride, a false tongue, hands which take life without cause;Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.
Proverbs 6:18A heart that devises wicked schemes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,A heart full of evil designs, feet which are quick in running after sin;A heart that deviseth wicked plots, feet that are swift to run into mischief,A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
Proverbs 6:19A false witness who utters lies, And he who sows discord among brothers.A false witness, breathing out untrue words, and one who lets loose violent acts among brothers.A deceitful witness that uttereth lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren.A false witness that speaketh lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs 6:20My son, keep your father's commandment, And don't forsake your mother's teaching. My son, keep the rule of your father, and have in memory the teaching of your mother:My son, beep the commandments of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother. My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Proverbs 6:21Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.Keep them ever folded in your heart, and have them hanging round your neck.Bind them in thy heart continually, and put them about thy neck.Bind them continually upon thy heart, and tie them about thy neck.
Proverbs 6:22When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.In your walking, it will be your guide; when you are sleeping, it will keep watch over you; when you are awake, it will have talk with you. When thou walkest, let them go with thee: when thou sleepest, let them keep thee; and when thou awakest, talk with them. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
Proverbs 6:23For the commandment is a lamp, And the law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,For the rule is a light, and the teaching a shining light; and the guiding words of training are the way of life.Because the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Proverbs 6:24To keep you from the immoral woman, From the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue. They will keep you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the strange woman. That they may keep thee from the evil woman, and from the flattering tongue of the stranger. To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Proverbs 6:25Don't lust after her beauty in your heart, Neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.Let not your heart's desire go after her fair body; let not her eyes take you prisoner.Let not thy heart covet her beauty, be not caught with her winks:Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Proverbs 6:26For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life. For a loose woman is looking for a cake of bread, but another man's wife goes after one's very life. For the price of a harlot is scarce one loaf: but the woman catcheth the precious soul of a man.For by means of a lewd woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
Proverbs 6:27Can a man scoop fire into his lap, And his clothes not be burned?May a man take fire to his breast without burning his clothing? Can a man hide fire in his bosom, and his garments not burn? Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Proverbs 6:28Or can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?Or may one go on lighted coals, and his feet not be burned?Or can he walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be burnt? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Proverbs 6:29So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished. So it is with him who goes in to his neighbour's wife; he who has anything to do with her will not go free from punishment. So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife, shall not be clean when he shall touch her.So he that goeth in to his neighbor's wife; whoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
