Psalms 42:1As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul after you, God.<To the chief music-maker. Maschil. Of the sons of Korah.> Like the desire of the roe for the water-streams, so is my soul's desire for you, O God.To the Overseer. An Instruction. By sons of Korah. As a hart doth pant for streams of water, So my soul panteth toward Thee, O God.To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so my soul panteth after thee, O God.
Psalms 42:2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?My soul is dry for need of God, the living God; when may I come and see the face of God?My soul thirsted for God, for the living God, When do I enter and see the face of God?My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Psalms 42:3My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"My tears have been my food day and night, while they keep saying to me, Where is your God?My tear hath been to me bread day and night, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is thy God?
Psalms 42:4These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, How I used to go with the crowd, and led them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.Let my soul be overflowing with grief when these things come back to my mind, how I went in company to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with the song of those who were keeping the feast. These I remember, and pour out my soul in me, For I pass over into the booth, I go softly with them unto the house of God, With the voice of singing and confession, The multitude keeping feast! When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy-day.
Psalms 42:5Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. Why are you crushed down, O my soul? and why are you troubled in me? put your hope in God; for I will again give him praise who is my help and my God.What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? Yea, art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him: The salvation of my countenance My God!Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Psalms 42:6My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, The heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar. My soul is crushed down in me, so I will keep you in mind; from the land of Jordan and of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar. In me doth my soul bow itself, Therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan, And of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
Psalms 42:7Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.Deep is sounding to deep at the noise of your waterfalls; all your waves have gone rolling over me.Deep unto deep is calling At the noise of Thy water-spouts, All Thy breakers and Thy billows passed over me.Deep calleth to deep at the noise of thy water-spouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
Psalms 42:8Yahweh will command his lovingkindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: A prayer to the God of my life. But the Lord will send his mercy in the daytime, and in the night his song will be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.By day Jehovah commandeth His kindness, And by night a song [is] with me, A prayer to the God of my life.Yet the LORD will command his loving-kindness in the day-time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer to the God of my life.
Psalms 42:9I will ask God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"I will say to God my Rock, Why have you let me go from your memory? why do I go in sorrow because of the attacks of my haters?I say to God my rock, `Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning in the oppression of an enemy?I will say to God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Psalms 42:10As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"The cruel words of my haters are like a crushing of my bones; when they say to me every day, Where is your God?With a sword in my bones Have mine adversaries reproached me, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, Where is thy God?
Psalms 42:11Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, The saving help of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 43Why are you crushed down, O my soul? and why are you troubled in me? put your hope in God; for I will again give him praise who is my help and my God.What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
