| 2nd-Timothy 4:1 | I charge you therefore before God and the Lord, Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: | I give you orders, before God and Christ Jesus, who will be the judge of the living and the dead, and by his revelation and his kingdom; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:2 | preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching. | Be preaching the word at all times, in every place; make protests, say sharp words, give comfort, with long waiting and teaching; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:3 | For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; | For the time will come when they will not take the true teaching; but, moved by their desires, they will get for themselves a great number of teachers for the pleasure of hearing them; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:4 | and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables. | And shutting their ears to what is true, will be turned away to belief in foolish stories. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:5 | But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry. | But be self-controlled in all things, do without comfort, go on preaching the good news, completing the work which has been given you to do. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:6 | For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come. | For I am even now being offered, and my end is near. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:7 | I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. | I have made a good fight, I have come to the end of my journey, I have kept the faith: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:8 | From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing. | From now on, the crown of righteousness is made ready for me, which the Lord, the upright judge, Will give to me at that day: and not only to me, but to all those who have had love for his revelation. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:9 | Be diligent to come to me soon, | Do your best to come to me before long: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:10 | for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. | For Demas has gone away from me, for love of this present life, and has gone to Thessalonica: Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:11 | Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministering. | Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and take him with you; for he is of use to me in the work. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:12 | But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. | Tychicus I sent to Ephesus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:13 | Bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, when you come, and the books, especially the parchments. | The coat which I did not take from Troas and which is with Carpus, get when you come, and the books, specially the papers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:14 | Alexander, the coppersmith, did much evil to me. The Lord will repay him according to his works, | Alexander the copper-worker did me much wrong: the Lord will give him the reward of his works: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:15 | of whom you also must beware; for he greatly opposed our words. | But be on the watch for him, for he was violent in his attacks on our teaching. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:16 | At my first defense, no one took my part, but all left me. May it not be held against them. | At my first meeting with my judges, no one took my part, but all went away from me. May it not be put to their account. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:17 | But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. | But the Lord was by my side and gave me strength; so that through me the news might be given out in full measure, and all the Gentiles might give ear: and I was taken out of the mouth of the lion. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:18 | And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me to his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. | The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in his kingdom in heaven: to whom be glory for ever and ever. So be it. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:19 | Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus. | Give my love to Prisca and Aquila and those of the house of Onesiphorus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:20 | Erastus remained at Corinth, but I left Trophimus at Miletus sick. | Erastus was stopping at Corinth; but Trophimus, when I last saw him was at Miletus, ill. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:21 | Be diligent to come before winter. Eubulus salutes you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers. | Do your best to come before the winter. Eubulus sends you his love, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia, and all the brothers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:22 | The Lord, Jesus Christ, be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. | The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you. |
