Isaiah 13:1The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.The word of the Lord about Babylon which Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw.The burden of Babylon, which Isaias the son of Amos saw.
Isaiah 13:2Set you up an ensign on the bare mountain, lift up the voice to them, wave the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.Lift up a banner upon a bare mountain, raise the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles.Put up a flag on a clear mountain-top, make a loud outcry to them, give directions with the hand, so that they may go into the doors of the great ones.Upon the dark mountain lift ye up a banner, exalt the voice, lift up the hand, and let the rulers go into the gates.
Isaiah 13:3I have commanded my consecrated ones, yes, I have called my mighty men for my anger, even my proudly exulting ones.I have commanded my hallowed ones, I have also called my mighty men for mine anger, them that rejoice in my highness.I have given orders to my holy ones, I have sent out my men of war, those of mine who take pride in their power, to give effect to my wrath.I have commanded my sanctified ones, and have called my strong ones in my wrath, them that rejoice in my glory.
Isaiah 13:4The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people! the noise of a tumult of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Hosts is mustering the host for the battle. The noise of a multitude on the mountains, as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations assembled together: Jehovah of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. The noise of great numbers in the mountains, like the noise of a strong people! The noise of the kingdoms of the nations meeting together! The Lord of armies is numbering his forces for war.The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as it were of many people, the noise of the sound of kings, of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts hath given charge to the troops of war.
Isaiah 13:5They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Yahweh, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. They come from a far country, from the end of the heavens Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation to destroy the whole land. They come from a far country, from the farthest part of heaven, even the Lord and the instruments of his wrath, with destruction for all the land.To them that come from a country afar off, from the end of heaven: tile Lord and the instruments of his wrath, to destroy the whole land.
Isaiah 13:6Wail you; for the day of Yahweh is at hand; as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.Howl, for the day of Jehovah is at hand; it cometh as destruction from the Almighty.Send out a cry of grief; for the day of the Lord is near; it comes as destruction from the Most High.Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is near: it shall come as a destruction from the Lord.
Isaiah 13:7Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt:Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt,For this cause all hands will be feeble, and every heart of man be turned to water; Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every heart of man shall melt,
Isaiah 13:8and they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold [of them]; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement one at another; their faces [shall be] faces of flame.and they shall be terrified: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, they shall writhe as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.Their hearts will be full of fear; pains and sorrows will overcome them; they will be in pain like a woman in childbirth; they will be shocked at one another; their faces will be like flames. And shall be broken. Gripings and pains shall take hold of them, they shall be in pain as a woman in labour. Every one shall be amazed at his neighbour, their countenances shall be as faces burnt.
Isaiah 13:9Behold, the day of Yahweh comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners of it out of it.Behold, the day of Jehovah cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the earth desolate; and he will destroy the sinners thereof out of it.See, the day of the Lord is coming, cruel, with wrath and burning passion: to make the land a waste, driving the sinners in it to destruction.Behold, the day of the Lord shall come, a cruel day, and full of indignation, and of wrath, and fury, to lay the land desolate, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Isaiah 13:10For the stars of the sky and the constellations of it shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in its going forth, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine. For the stars of the heavens and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. For the stars of heaven and its bright armies will not give their light: the sun will be made dark in his journey through the heaven, and the moon will keep back her light. For the stars of heaven, and their brightness shall not display their light: the sun shall be darkened in his rising, and the moon shall not shine with her light.
Isaiah 13:11I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity: and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. And I will punish the world for evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will make the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will bring low the haughtiness of the violent. And I will send punishment on the world for its evil, and on the sinners for their wrongdoing; and I will put an end to all pride, and will make low the power of the cruel. And I will visit the evils of the world, and against the wicked for their iniquity: and I will make the pride of infidels to cease, and will bring down the arrogancy of the mighty.
Isaiah 13:12I will make a man more rare than fine gold, even a man than the pure gold of Ophir.I will make a man more precious than fine gold, even man than the gold of Ophir.I will make men so small in number, that a man will be harder to get than gold, even the best gold of Ophir.A man shall be more precious than gold, yea a man than the finest of gold.
Isaiah 13:13Therefore I will make the heavens to tremble, and the earth shall be shaken out of its place, in the wrath of Yahweh of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. Therefore I will make the heavens to shake, and the earth shall be removed out of her place, at the wrath of Jehovah of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. For this cause the heavens will be shaking, and the earth will be moved out of its place, in the wrath of the Lord of armies, and in the day of his burning passion. For this I will trouble the heaven: and the earth shall be moved out of her place, for the indignation of the Lord of hosts, and for the day of his tierce wrath.
Isaiah 13:14It shall happen, that as the chased roe, and as sheep that no man gathers, they shall turn every man to his own people, and shall flee every man to his own land. And it shall be as with a chased roe, and as with a flock that no man gathereth together; every one shall turn to his own people, and every one flee into his own land. And it will be that, like a roe in flight, and like wandering sheep, they will go every man to his people and to his land. And they shall be as a doe fleeing away, and as a sheep: and there shall be none to gather them together: every man shall turn to his own people, and every one shall flee to his own land.
Isaiah 13:15Everyone who is found shall be thrust through; and everyone who is taken shall fall by the sword. All that are found shall be thrust through; and every one that is in league [with them] shall fall by the sword.Everyone who is overtaken will have a spear put through him, and everyone who goes in flight will be put to the sword.Every one that shall be found, shall be slain: and every one that shall come to their aid, shall fall by the sword.
Isaiah 13:16Their infants also shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be rifled, and their wives ravished. And their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes, their houses shall be rifled, and their women ravished.Their young children will be broken up before their eyes; their goods will be taken away, and their wives made the property of others.Their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes: their houses shall be pillaged, and their wives shall be ravished.
Isaiah 13:17Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who do not regard silver, and as for gold, they have no delight in it.See, I am driving the Medes against them, who put no value on silver and have no pleasure in gold.Behold I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not seek silver, nor desire gold:
Isaiah 13:18[Their] bows shall dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. And [their] bows shall dash the young men to pieces, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb: their eye shall not spare children. In their hands are bows and spears; they are cruel, violently putting the young men to death, and crushing the young women; they have no pity for children, and no mercy for the fruit of the body. But with their arrows they shall kill the children, and shall have no pity upon the sucklings of the womb, and their eye shall not spare their sons.
Isaiah 13:19Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beautiful town which is the pride of the Chaldaeans, will be like God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. And that Babylon, glorious among kingdoms, the famous pride of the Chaldeans, shall be even as the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha.
Isaiah 13:20It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be lived in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall shepherds make their flocks to lie down there. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in, even to generation and generation; nor shall Arabian pitch tent there, nor shepherds make fold there.People will never be living in it again, and it will have no more men from generation to generation: the Arab will not put up his tent there; and those who keep sheep will not make it a resting-place for their flocks. It shall no more be inhabited for ever, and it shall not be founded unto generation and generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch his tents there, nor shall shepherds rest there.
Isaiah 13:21But wild animals of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there. But beasts of the desert shall lie there, and their houses shall be full of owls; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there. But the beasts of the waste land will have their holes there; and the houses will be full of crying jackals, and ostriches will have their place there, and evil spirits will be dancing there. But wild beasts shall rest there, and their houses shall be filled with serpents, and ostriches shall dwell there, and the hairy ones shall dance there:
Isaiah 13:22Wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. And jackals shall cry to one another in their palaces, and wild dogs in the pleasant castles. And her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. And wolves will be answering one another in their towers, and jackals in their houses of pleasure: her time is near, and her days of power will quickly be ended. And owls shall answer one another there, in the houses thereof, and sirens in the temples of pleasure.
