Psalms 52:1Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God's lovingkindness endures continually.{To the chief Musician: an instruction. Of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David came to the house of Ahimelech.} Why boastest thou thyself in evil, thou mighty man? The loving-kindness of ùGod [abideth] continually.<To the chief music-maker. Maschil. Of David. When Doeg the Edomite came to Saul saying, David has come to the house of Ahimelech.> Why do you take pride in wrongdoing, lifting yourself up against the upright man all the day?Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
Psalms 52:2Your tongue plots destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.Thy tongue deviseth mischievous things, like a sharp razor, practising deceit.Purposing destruction, using deceit; your tongue is like a sharp blade.Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Psalms 52:3You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah.Thou hast loved evil rather than good, lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. You have more love for evil than for good, for deceit than for works of righteousness. (Selah.)Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Psalms 52:4You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue.Thou hast loved all devouring words, O deceitful tongue!Destruction is in all your words, O false tongue.Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
Psalms 52:5God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, And root you out of the land of the living. Selah.ùGod shall likewise destroy thee for ever; he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of [thy] tent, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. But God will put an end to you for ever; driving you out from your tent, uprooting you from the land of the living. (Selah.)God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
Psalms 52:6The righteous also will see it, and fear, And laugh at him, saying,The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, [saying,]The upright will see it with fear, and will say, laughing at you:The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
Psalms 52:7"Behold, this is the man who didn't make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness."Behold the man that made not God his strength, but put confidence in the abundance of his riches, [and] strengthened himself in his avarice.See, this is the man who did not make God his strength, but had faith in his goods and his property, and made himself strong in his wealth.Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
Psalms 52:8But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God's house. I trust in God's lovingkindness forever and ever. But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I will confide in the loving-kindness of God for ever and ever. But I am like a branching olive-tree in the house of God; I have put my faith in his mercy for ever and ever. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
Psalms 52:9I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, In the presence of your saints. Psalm 53 For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Mahalath." A contemplation by David.I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done [it]; and I will wait on thy name, before thy godly ones, for it is good.I will give you praise without end for what you have done; I will give honour to your name before your saints, for it is good.I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
