Proverbs 14:1Every wise woman builds her house, But the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.The wisdom of women buildeth their house; but folly plucketh it down with her hands.A wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish will pull down with her hands that also which is built.Wisdom is building her house, but the foolish woman is pulling it down with her hands.
Proverbs 14:2He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, But he who is perverse in his ways despises him.He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; but he that is perverted in his ways despiseth him.He that walketh in the right way, and feareth God, Cis despised by him that goeth by an infamous way.He who goes on his way in righteousness has before him the fear of the Lord; but he whose ways are twisted gives him no honour.
Proverbs 14:3The fool's talk brings a rod to his back, But the lips of the wise protect them.In the fool's mouth is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride: but the lips of the wise preserve them.In the mouth of the foolish man is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will keep them safe.
Proverbs 14:4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, But much increase is by the strength of the ox.Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.Where there are no oxen, the crib is empty: but where there is much corn, there the strength of the ox is manifest.Where there are no oxen, their food-place is clean; but much increase comes through the strength of the ox.
Proverbs 14:5A truthful witness will not lie, But a false witness pours out lies.A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.A faithful witness will not lie: but a deceitful witness uttereth a lie.A true witness does not say what is false, but a false witness is breathing out deceit.
Proverbs 14:6A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn't find it, But knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.A scorner seeketh wisdom, and there is none [for him]; but knowledge is easy unto the intelligent.A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: the learning of the wise is easy.The hater of authority, searching for wisdom, does not get it; but knowledge comes readily to the open-minded man.
Proverbs 14:7Stay away from a foolish man, For you won't find knowledge on his lips.Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge.Go against a foolish man, and he knoweth not the lips of prudence.Go away from the foolish man, for you will not see the lips of knowledge.
Proverbs 14:8The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit.The wisdom of a. discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth.The wisdom of the man of good sense makes his way clear; but the unwise behaviour of the foolish is deceit.
Proverbs 14:9Fools mock at making atonement for sins, But among the upright there is good will.Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.A fool will laugh at sin, but among the just grace shall abide.In the tents of those hating authority there is error, but in the house of the upright man there is grace.
Proverbs 14:10The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; He will not share these with a stranger.The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.The heart that knoweth the bitterness of his own soul, in his joy the stranger shall not intermeddle.No one has knowledge of a man's grief but himself; and a strange person has no part in his joy.
Proverbs 14:11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish.The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.The house of the wicked shall be destroyed: but the tabernacles of the just shall flourish.The house of the sinner will be overturned, but the tent of the upright man will do well.
Proverbs 14:12There is a way which seems right to a man, But in the end it leads to death.There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.There is a way which seemeth just to a man: but the ends thereof lead to death.There is a way which seems straight before a man, but its end is the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:13Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, And mirth may end in heaviness.Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is sadness.Laughter shall be mingled with sorrow, and mourning taketh hold of the end of joy.Even while laughing the heart may be sad; and after joy comes sorrow.
Proverbs 14:14The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; Likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man from what is in himself.A fool shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be above him.He whose heart is turned away will have the reward of his ways in full measure; but a good man will have the reward of his doings.
Proverbs 14:15The simple believes everything, But the prudent man carefully considers his ways.The simple believeth every word; but the prudent [man] heedeth his going.The innocent believeth every word: the discreet man considereth his steps. No good shall come to the deceitful son: but the wise servant shall prosper in his dealings, and his way shall be made straight.The simple man has faith in every word, but the man of good sense gives thought to his footsteps.
Proverbs 14:16A wise man fears, and shuns evil, But the fool is hotheaded and reckless.A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.A wise man feareth and declineth from evil: the fool leapeth over and is confident.The wise man, fearing, keeps himself from evil; but the foolish man goes on in his pride, with no thought of danger.
Proverbs 14:17He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, And a crafty man is hated.He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of mischievous devices is hated.The impatient man shall work folly: and the crafty man is hateful.He who is quickly angry will do what is foolish, but the man of good sense will have quiet.
Proverbs 14:18The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.The simple inherit folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.The childish shall possess folly, and the prudent, shall look for knowledge.Foolish behaviour is the heritage of the simple, but men of good sense are crowned with knowledge.
Proverbs 14:19The evil bow down before the good, And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous [man].The evil shall fall down before the good: and the wicked before the gates of the just.The knees of the evil are bent before the good; and sinners go down in the dust at the doors of the upright.
Proverbs 14:20The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, But the rich person has many friends.He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.The poor man shall be hateful even to his own neighbour: but the friends of the rich are many.The poor man is hated even by his neighbour, but the man of wealth has numbers of friends.
Proverbs 14:21He who despises his neighbor sins, But blessed is he who has pity on the poor.He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious to the afflicted, happy is he.He that despiseth his neighbour, sinneth: but he that sheweth mercy to the poor, shall be blessed. He that believeth in the Lord, loveth mercy.He who has no respect for his neighbour is a sinner, but he who has pity for the poor is happy.
Proverbs 14:22Don't they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.Do they not err that devise evil? but loving-kindness and truth are for those that devise good.They err that work evil: but mercy and truth prepare good things.Will not the designers of evil come into error? But mercy and good faith are for the designers of good.
Proverbs 14:23In all hard work there is profit, But the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to want.In much work there shall be abundance: but where there are many words, there is oftentimes want.In all hard work there is profit, but talk only makes a man poor.
Proverbs 14:24The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools crowns them with folly.The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of the foolish is folly.The crown of the wise is their riches: the folly of fools, imprudence.Their wisdom is a crown to the wise, but their foolish behaviour is round the head of the unwise.
Proverbs 14:25A truthful witness saves souls, But a false witness is deceitful.A true witness delivereth souls; but deceit uttereth lies.A faithful witness delivereth souls: and the double dealer uttereth lies.A true witness is the saviour of lives; but he who says false things is a cause of deceit.
Proverbs 14:26In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, And he will be a refuge for his children.In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.In the fear of the Lord is confidence of strength, and there shall be hope for his children.For him in whose heart is the fear of the Lord there is strong hope: and his children will have a safe place.
Proverbs 14:27The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, Turning people from the snares of death.The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to decline from the ruin of death.The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, by which one may be turned from the nets of death.
Proverbs 14:28In the multitude of people is the king's glory, But in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince.In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.A king's glory is in the number of his people: and for need of people a ruler may come to destruction.
Proverbs 14:29He who is slow to anger has great understanding, But he who has a quick temper displays folly.He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.He that is patient, is governed with much wisdom: but he that is impatient, exalteth his folly.He who is slow to be angry has great good sense; but he whose spirit is over-quick gives support to what is foolish.
Proverbs 14:30The life of the body is a heart at peace, But envy rots the bones.A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bones.Soundness of heart is the life of the flesh: but envy is the rottenness of the bones.A quiet mind is the life of the body, but envy is a disease in the bones.
Proverbs 14:31He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, But he who is kind to the needy honors him.He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; but he that honoureth Him is gracious to the needy.He that oppresseth the poor, upbraideth his Maker: but he that hath pity on the poor, honoureth him.He who is hard on the poor puts shame on his Maker; but he who has mercy on those who are in need gives him honour.
Proverbs 14:32The wicked is brought down in his calamity, But in death, the righteous has a refuge.The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.The wicked man shall be driven out in his wickedness: but the just hath hope in his death.The sinner is overturned in his evil-doing, but the upright man has hope in his righteousness.
Proverbs 14:33Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, And is even made known in the inward part of fools.Wisdom resteth in the heart of the intelligent [man]; but that which is in the foolish maketh itself known.In the heart of the prudent resteth wisdom, and it shall instruct all the ignorant.Wisdom has her resting-place in the mind of the wise, but she is not seen among the foolish.
Proverbs 14:34Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to peoples.Justice exalteth a nation: but sin maketh nations miserable.By righteousness a nation is lifted up, but sin is a cause of shame to the peoples.
Proverbs 14:35The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, But his wrath is toward one who causes shame.The king's favour is toward a wise servant; but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.A wise servant is acceptable to the king: he that is good for nothing shall feel his anger.The king has pleasure in a servant who does wisely, but his wrath is against him who is a cause of shame.
