Psalms 83:1God, don't keep silent. Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.{A Song; a Psalm of Asaph.} O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O ùGod:Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.<A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.
Psalms 83:2For, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.For behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head.How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.
Psalms 83:3They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.
Psalms 83:4"Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more."They say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more.For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory.
Psalms 83:5For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you.For they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:
Psalms 83:6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;
Psalms 83:7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;
Psalms 83:8Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.Asshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah.For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)
Psalms 83:9Do to them as you did to Midian, As to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon;Do unto them as to Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon:O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:
Psalms 83:10Who perished at Endor, Who became as dung for the earth.Who were destroyed at Endor; they became as dung for the ground.Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.
Psalms 83:11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna;Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb; and all their chiefs as Zebah and as Zalmunna.For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:
Psalms 83:12Who said, "Let us take possession Of God's pasturelands."For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.
Psalms 83:13My God, make them like tumbleweed; Like chaff before the wind.O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.
Psalms 83:14As the fire that burns the forest, As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,
Psalms 83:15So pursue them with your tempest, Terrify them with your storm.So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind.So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.
Psalms 83:16Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek your name, Yahweh.Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.
Psalms 83:17Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish;Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;
Psalms 83:18That they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 84 For the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.
