Psalms 49:1Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,{To the chief Musician. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.} Hear this, all ye peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world:A psalm for Asaph. The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth. From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof:Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
Psalms 49:2Both low and high, Rich and poor together.Both men of low and men of high degree, rich and poor alike.out of Sion the loveliness of his beauty.Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
Psalms 49:3My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart shall utter understanding.My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding:God shall come manifestly: our God shall come, and shall not keep silence. A fire shall burn before him: and a mighty tempest shall be round about him.My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
Psalms 49:4I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will open my riddle on the harp.I will incline mine ear to a parable, I will open my riddle upon the harp.He shall call heaven from above, and the earth, to judge his people.I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
Psalms 49:5Why should I fear in the days of evil, When iniquity at my heels surrounds me?Wherefore should I fear in the days of adversity, [when] the iniquity of my supplanters encompasseth me?Gather ye together his saints to him: who set his covenant before sacrifices.Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
Psalms 49:6Those who trust in their wealth, And boast in the multitude of their richesThey depend upon their wealth, and boast themselves in the abundance of their riches. ...And the heavens shall declare his justice: for God is judge.They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
Psalms 49:7None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give God a ransom for him.None can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him,Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, and I will testify to thee: I am God, thy God.None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
Psalms 49:8For the redemption of their life is costly, No payment is ever enough,(For the redemption of their soul is costly, and must be given up for ever,)I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
Psalms 49:9That he should live on forever, That he should not see corruption.That he should still live perpetually, [and] not see corruption.I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he goats out of thy flocks.That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
Psalms 49:10For he sees that wise men die; Likewise the fool and the senseless perish, And leave their wealth to others.For he seeth that wise men die; all alike, the fool and the brutish perish, and they leave their wealth to others.For all the beasts of the woods are mine: the cattle on the hills, and the oxen.For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
Psalms 49:11Their inward thought is, that their houses endure forever, And their dwelling places to all generations. They call their lands after their own names.Their inward thought is, that their houses are for ever, their dwelling-places from generation to generation: they call the lands after their own names.I know all the fowls of the air: and with me is the beauty of the field.Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
Psalms 49:12But man, despite his riches, doesn't endure. He is like the animals that perish.Nevertheless, man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.If I should be hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
Psalms 49:13This is the destiny of those who are foolish, And of those who approve their sayings. Selah.This their way is their folly, yet they that come after them delight in their sayings. Selah.Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? or shall I drink the blood of goats?This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
Psalms 49:14They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall be for Sheol to consume, That there be no habitation for it.Like sheep are they laid in Sheol: Death feedeth on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their comeliness shall be for Sheol to consume, that there be no habitation for them.Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High.Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Psalms 49:15But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For he will receive me. Selah.But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol: for he will receive me. Selah.And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Psalms 49:16Don't be afraid when a man is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased.Be not afraid when a man becometh rich, when the glory of his house is increased:But to the sinner God hath said: Why dost thou declare my justices, and take my covenant in thy mouth ?Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Psalms 49:17For when he dies he shall carry nothing away. His glory shall not descend after him.For when he dieth, he shall carry nothing away; his glory shall not descend after him.Seeing thou hast hated discipline: and hast cast my words behind thee.For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Psalms 49:18Though while he lived he blessed his soul And men praise you when you do well for yourselfThough he blessed his soul in his lifetime, and men will praise thee when thou doest well to thyself,If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker.Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
Psalms 49:19He shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.It shall go to the generation of his fathers: they shall never see light.Thy mouth hath abounded with evil, and thy tongue framed deceits.He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
Psalms 49:20A man who has riches without understanding, Is like the animals that perish. Psalm 50 A Psalm by Asaph.Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.Sitting thou didst speak against thy brother, and didst lay a scandal against thy mother's son:Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
