| Isaiah 23:1 | The burden of Tyre. Howl, you ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Kittim it is revealed to them. | The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish! for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, none entering in. From the land of Chittim it is revealed to them. | The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of the sea, for the house is destroyed, from whence they were wont to come: from the land of Cethim it is revealed to them. | The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them. |
| Isaiah 23:2 | Be still, you inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished. | Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle! The merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished thee. | Be silent, you that dwell in the island: the merchants of Sidon passing over the sea, have filled thee. | Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished. |
| Isaiah 23:3 | On great waters the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the market of nations. | And on great waters, the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the market of the nations. | The seed of the Nile in many waters, the harvest of the river is her revenue: and she is become the mart of the nations. | And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a mart of nations. |
| Isaiah 23:4 | Be you ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins. | Be thou ashamed, Sidon, for the sea hath spoken, the strength of the sea, saying, I have not travailed nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men [nor] brought up virgins. | Be thou ashamed, O Sidon: for the sea speaketh, even the strength of the sea, saying: I have not been in labour, nor have I brought forth, nor have I nourished up young men, nor brought up virgins. | Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish young men, nor bring up virgins. |
| Isaiah 23:5 | When the report comes to Egypt, they shall be sorely pained at the report of Tyre. | When the report came into Egypt, they were sorely pained at the news of Tyre. | When it shall be heard in Egypt, they will be sorry when they shall hear of Tyre: | As at the report concerning Egypt, so shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tyre. |
| Isaiah 23:6 | Pass you over to Tarshish; wail, you inhabitants of the coast. | Pass over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the coast! | Pass over the seas, howl, ye inhabitants of the island. | Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle. |
| Isaiah 23:7 | Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to sojourn? | Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days? Her feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn. | Is not this your city, which gloried from of old in her antiquity? her feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn. | Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her far off to sojourn. |
| Isaiah 23:8 | Who has purposed this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honorable of the earth? | Who hath purposed this against Tyre, the distributor of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose dealers were the honourable of the earth? | Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, that was formerly crowned, whose merchants were princes, and her traders the nobles of the earth? | Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honorable of the earth? |
| Isaiah 23:9 | Yahweh of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. | Jehovah of hosts hath purposed it, to profane the pride of all glory, to bring to nought all the honourable of the earth. | The Lord of hosts hath designed it, to pull down the pride of all glory, and bring to disgrace all the glorious ones of the earth. | The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. |
| Isaiah 23:10 | Pass through your land as the Nile, daughter of Tarshish; there is no restraint any more. | Overflow thy land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish: there is no more restraint. | Pass thy land as a river, O daughter of the sea, thou hast a girdle no more. | Pass through thy land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: there is no more strength. |
| Isaiah 23:11 | He has stretched out his hand over the sea, he has shaken the kingdoms: Yahweh has given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds of it. | He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he shaketh the kingdoms. Jehovah hath given a commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds thereof, | He stretched out his hand over the sea, he troubled kingdoms: the Lord hath given a charge against Chanaan, to destroy the strong ones thereof. | He stretched his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy its strong holds. |
| Isaiah 23:12 | He said, You shall no more rejoice, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon: arise, pass over to Kittim; even there shall you have no rest. | and hath said, Thou shalt no more exult, [thou] oppressed virgin, daughter of Sidon: get thee up, pass over to Chittim; even there shalt thou have no rest. | And he said: Thou shalt glory no more, O virgin daughter of Sidon, who art oppressed: arise and sail over to Cethim, there also thou shalt have no, rest. | And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest. |
| Isaiah 23:13 | Behold, the land of the Chaldeans: this people was not; the Assyrian founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness; they set up their towers; they overthrew the palaces of it; they made it a ruin. | Behold the land of the Chaldeans: this people did not exist; the Assyrian founded it for the dwellers in the desert: they set up their towers, they destroyed the palaces thereof; he brought it to ruin. | Behold the land of the Chaldeans, there was not such a people, the Assyrian founded it: they have led away the strong ones thereof into captivity, they have destroyed the houses thereof, they have brought it to ruin. | Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up its towers, they raised up its palaces; and he brought it to ruin. |
| Isaiah 23:14 | Howl, you ships of Tarshish; for your stronghold is laid waste. | Howl, ships of Tarshish! for your fortress is laid waste. | Howl, O ye ships of the sea, for your strength is laid waste. | Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste. |
| Isaiah 23:15 | It shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years it shall be to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it shall be for Tyre as the harlot's song. | And it shall come to pass in that day that thou, O Tyre, shalt be forgotten, seventy years, according to the days of one king: but after seventy years, there shall be unto Tyre as the song of a harlot. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as a harlot. |
| Isaiah 23:16 | Take a harp, go about the city, you prostitute that has been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered. | Take a harp, go about the city, thou forgotten harlot! Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered. | Take a harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten: sing well, sing many a song, that thou mayst be remembered. | Take a harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered. |
| Isaiah 23:17 | It shall happen after the end of seventy years, that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her hire, and shall play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth. | And it shall come to pass at the end of seventy years, that Jehovah will visit Tyre; and she will return to her hire, and will commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the face of the ground. | And it shall come to pass after seventy years, that the Lord will visit Tyre, and will bring her back again to her traffic: and she shall commit fornication again with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. | And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. |
| Isaiah 23:18 | Her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to Yahweh: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing. | And her merchandise and her hire shall be holy to Jehovah: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before Jehovah, to eat and be sufficed, and for excellent clothing. | And her merchandise and her hire shall be sanctified to the Lord: they shall not be kept in store, nor laid up: for her merchandise shall be for them that shall dwell before the Lord, that they may eat unto fulness, and be clothed for a continuance. | And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, for sufficient food, and for durable clothing. |
