Job 6:2"Oh that my anguish were weighed, And all my calamity laid in the balances!Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and all my calamity laid in the balances!O that my sins, whereby I have deserved wrath, and the calamity that I suffer, were weighed in a balance.Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
Job 6:3For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas, Therefore have my words been rash. For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas; therefore my words are vehement. As the sand of the sea this would appear heavier: therefore my words are full of sorrow :For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
Job 6:4For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, their poison drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of +God are arrayed against me.For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me.For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison of which drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God set themselves in array against me.
Job 6:5Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or does the ox low over his fodder?Doth the wild ass bray by the grass? loweth an ox over his fodder? Will the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or will the ox low when he standeth before a full manger?Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
Job 6:6Can that which has no flavor be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?Shall that which is insipid be eaten without salt? Is there any taste in the white of an egg?Or can an unsavoury thing be eaten, that is not seasoned with salt? or can a man taste that which when tasted bringeth death? Can that which is unsavory be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
Job 6:7My soul refuses to touch them; They are as loathsome food to me.What my soul refuseth to touch, that is as my loathsome food. The things which before my soul would not touch, now, through anguish are my meats. The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful food.
Job 6:8"Oh that I might have my request; That God would grant the thing that I long for!Oh that I might have my request, and that +God would grant my desire!Who will grant that my request may come: and that God may give me what I look for?Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
Job 6:9Even that it would please God to crush me; That he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!And that it would please +God to crush me, that he would let loose his hand and cut me off!And that he that hath begun may destroy me, that he may let loose his hand, and cut me off?Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
Job 6:10Be it still my consolation, Yes, let me exult in pain that doesn't spare, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One.Then should I yet have comfort; and in the pain which spareth not I would rejoice that I have not denied the words of the Holy One.And that this may be my comfort, that afflicting me with sorrow, he spare not, nor I contradict the words of the Holy One.Then should I yet have comfort; yes, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
Job 6:11What is my strength, that I should wait? What is my end, that I should be patient? What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should have patience? For what is my strength, that I can hold out? or what is my end that I should keep patience? What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is my end, that I should prolong my life?
Job 6:12Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh of brass? Is my strength the strength of stones? is my flesh of brass? My strength is not the strength of stones, nor is my flesh of brass. Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
Job 6:13Isn't it that I have no help in me, That wisdom is driven quite from me?Is it not that there is no help in me, and soundness is driven away from me?Behold there is no help for me in myself, and my familiar friends also are departed from me.Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
Job 6:14"To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be shown from his friend; Even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty. For him that is fainting kindness [is meet] from his friend; or he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. He that taketh away mercy from his friend, forsaketh the fear of the Lord.To him that is afflicted pity should be shown from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
Job 6:15My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away;My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a stream, as the channel of streams which pass away,My brethren have passed by me, as the torrent that passeth swiftly in the valleys.My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
Job 6:16Which are black by reason of the ice, in which the snow hides itself:Which are turbid by reason of the ice, in which the snow hideth itself:They that fear the hoary frost, the snow shall fall upon them.Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and in which the snow is hid:
Job 6:17In the dry season, they vanish. When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. At the time they diminish, they are dried up; when heat affecteth them, they vanish from their place:At the time when they shall be scattered they shall perish: and after it groweth hot they shall be melted out of their place. In the time when they become warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
Job 6:18The caravans that travel beside them turn aside; They go up into the waste, and perish. They wind about in the paths of their course, they go off into the waste and perish. The paths of their steps are entangled: they shall walk in vain, and shall perish. The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
Job 6:19The caravans of Tema looked, The companies of Sheba waited for them. The caravans of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba counted on them:Consider the paths of Thema, the ways of Saba, and wait a little while. The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
Job 6:20They were put to shame because they had hoped; They came there, and were confounded. They are ashamed at their hope; they come thither, and are confounded. They are confounded, because I have hoped: they are come also even unto me, and are covered with shame. They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
Job 6:21For now you are nothing. You see a terror, and are afraid. So now ye are nothing; ye see a terrible object and are afraid. Now you are come: and now seeing my affliction you are afraid. For now ye are nothing: ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
Job 6:22Did I say, 'Give to me?' Or, 'Offer a present for me from your substance?'Did I say, Bring unto me, and make me a present from your substance?Did I say: Bring to me, and give me of your substance?Did I say, Bring to me? or Give a reward for me of your substance?
Job 6:23Or, 'Deliver me from the adversary's hand?' Or, 'Redeem me from the hand of the oppressors?'Or, rescue me from the hand of the oppressor, and redeem me from the hand of the violent?Or deliver me from the hand of the enemy, and rescue me out of the hand of the mighty?Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
Job 6:24"Teach me, and I will hold my peace; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.Teach me, and I will hold my peace: and if I have been ignorant in any thing, instruct me.Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand in what I have erred.
Job 6:25How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what does it reprove? How forcible are right words! but what doth your upbraiding reprove? Why have you detracted the words of truth, whereas there is none of you that can reprove me?How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
Job 6:26Do you intend to reprove words, Seeing that the speeches of one who is desperate are as wind?Do ye imagine to reprove words? The speeches of one that is desperate are indeed for the wind. You dress up speeches only to rebuke, and you utter words to the wind.Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
Job 6:27Yes, you would even cast lots for the fatherless, And make merchandise of your friend.Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and dig [a pit] for your friend. You rush in upon the fatherless, and you endeavour to overthrow your friend.Yes, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
Job 6:28Now therefore be pleased to look at me, For surely I shall not lie to your face. Now therefore if ye will, look upon me; and it shall be to your face if I lie. However finish what you have begun, give ear, and see whether I lie.Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident to you if I lie.
Job 6:29Please return. Let there be no injustice; Yes, return again, my cause is righteous.Return, I pray you, let there be no wrong; yea, return again, my righteousness shall be in it.Answer, I beseech you, without contention: and speaking that which is just, judge ye.Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yes, return again, my righteousness is in it.
Job 6:30Is there injustice on my tongue? Can't my taste discern mischievous things? Is there wrong in my tongue? cannot my taste discern mischievous things? And you shall not And iniquity in my tongue, neither shall folly sound in my mouth. Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
