Psalms 77:1My cry goes to God! Indeed, I cry to God for help, And for him to listen to me.To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried to God with my voice, even to God with my voice; and he gave ear to me.Understanding for Asaph. Attend, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice [is] to God, and I cry, my voice [is] to God, And He hath given ear unto me.
Psalms 77:2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out in the night, and didn't get tired. My soul refused to be comforted. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter propositions from the beginning. In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.
Psalms 77:3I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah.I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. How great things have we heard and known, and our fathers have told us.I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.
Psalms 77:4You hold my eyelids open. I am so troubled that I can't speak.Thou holdest my eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. They have not been hidden from their children, in another generation. Declaring the praises of the Lord, and his powers, and his wonders which he hath done.Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.
Psalms 77:5I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times.I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. And he set up a testimony in Jacob: and made a law in Israel. How great things he commanded our fathers, that they should make the same known to their children:I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.
Psalms 77:6I remember my song in the night. I consider in my own heart; My spirit diligently inquires:I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with my own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.that another generation might know them. The children that should be born and should rise up, and declare them to their children.I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:
Psalms 77:7"Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he be favorable no more? Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favorable no more? That they may put their hope in God and may not forget the works of God: and may seek his commandments. To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?
Psalms 77:8Has his lovingkindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? Is his mercy wholly gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? That they may not become like their fathers, a perverse end exasperating generation. A generation that set not their heart aright: and whose spirit was not faithful to God.Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?
Psalms 77:9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?" Selah.Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. The sons of Ephraim who bend and shoot with the bow: they have turned back in the day of battle.Hath God forgotten [His] favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.
Psalms 77:10Then I thought, "I will appeal to this: The years of the right hand of the Most High."And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. They kept not the covenant of God: and in his law they would not walk. And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.`
Psalms 77:11I will remember Yah's deeds; For I will remember your wonders of old.I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.And they forgot his benefits, and his wonders that he had shewn them.I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,
Psalms 77:12I will also meditate on all your work, And consider your doings.I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.Wonderful things did he do in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Tanis. And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.
Psalms 77:13Your way, God, is in the sanctuary. What god is great like God?Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God!He divided the sea and brought them through: and he made the waters to stand as in a vessel.O God, in holiness [is] Thy way, Who [is] a great god like God?
Psalms 77:14You are the God who does wonders. You have made your strength known among the peoples.Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. And he conducted them with a cloud by day: and all the night with a light ofThou [art] the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,
Psalms 77:15You have redeemed your people with your arm, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.Thou hast with thy arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. He struck the rock in the wilderness: and gave them to drink, as out of the great deep.Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
Psalms 77:16The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you, and they writhed. The depths also convulsed. The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were disturbed. He brought forth water out of the rock: and made streams run down as rivers. The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid also depths are troubled.
Psalms 77:17The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thy arrows also went abroad. And they added yet more sin against him: they provoked the most High to wrath in the place without water.Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also Thine arrows go up and down.
Psalms 77:18The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind. The lightnings lit up the world. The earth trembled and shook. The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking meat for their desires. The voice of Thy thunder [is] in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.
Psalms 77:19Your way was through the sea; Your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known.Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. And they spoke ill of God: they said: Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? In the sea [is] Thy way, And Thy paths [are] in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.
Psalms 77:20You led your people like a flock, By the hand of Moses and Aaron. Psalm 78 A contemplation by Asaph.Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.Because he struck the rock, and the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can he also give bread, or provide a table for his people?Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
