Psalms 72:1God, give the king your justice; Your righteousness to the royal son.By Solomon. O God, Thy judgments to the king give, And Thy righteousness to the king`s son.A psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to them that are of a right heart!
Psalms 72:2He will judge your people with righteousness, And your poor with justice. He judgeth Thy people with righteousness, And Thy poor with judgment. But my feet were almost moved; my steps had well nigh slipped.
Psalms 72:3The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people; The hills bring the fruit of righteousness. The mountains bear peace to the people, And the heights by righteousness.Because I had a zeal on occasion of the wicked, seeing the prosperity of sinners.
Psalms 72:4He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, And will break the oppressor in pieces. He judgeth the poor of the people, Giveth deliverance to the sons of the needy, And bruiseth the oppressor. For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.
Psalms 72:5They shall fear you while the sun endures; And as long as the moon, throughout all generations. They fear Thee with the sun, and before the moon, Generation generations. They are not in the labour of men: neither shall they be scourged like other men. B Therefore pride hath held them fast: they are covered with their iniquity and their wickedness.
Psalms 72:6He will come down like rain on the mown grass, As showers that water the earth. He cometh down as rain on mown grass, As showers sprinkling the earth.Their iniquity hath come forth, as it were from fatness: they have passed into the affection of the heart.
Psalms 72:7In his days, the righteous shall flourish, And abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.Flourish in his days doth the righteous, And abundance of peace till the moon is not. They have thought and spoken wickedness: they have spoken iniquity on high.
Psalms 72:8He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, From the River to the ends of the earth. And he ruleth from sea unto sea, And from the river unto the ends of earth. They have set their mouth against heaven: and their tongue hath passed through the earth.
Psalms 72:9Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust. Before him bow do the inhabitants of the dry places, And his enemies lick the dust. Therefore will my people return here and full days shall be found in them.
Psalms 72:10The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.Kings of Tarshish and of the isles send back a present. Kings of Sheba and Seba a reward bring near. And they said: How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Psalms 72:11Yes, all kings shall fall down before him. All nations shall serve him.And all kings do bow themselves to him, All nations do serve him,Behold these are sinners; and yet abounding in the world they have obtained riches.
Psalms 72:12For he will deliver the needy when he cries; The poor, who has no helper. For he delivereth the needy who crieth, And the poor when he hath no helper,And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.
Psalms 72:13He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the souls of the needy. He hath pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he saveth,And I have been scourged all the day; and my chastisement hath been in the mornings.
Psalms 72:14He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight. From fraud and from violence he redeemeth their soul, And precious is their blood in his eyes.If I said: I will speak thus; behold I should condemn the generation of thy children.
Psalms 72:15They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba. Men shall pray for him continually. They shall bless him all day long. And he liveth, and giveth to him of the gold of Sheba, And prayeth for him continually, All the day he doth bless him.I studied that I might know this thing, it is a labour in my sight:
Psalms 72:16There shall be abundance of grain throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field. There is a handful of corn in the earth, On the top of mountains, Shake like Lebanon doth its fruit, And they flourish out of the city as the herb of the earth.Until I go into the sanctuary of God, and understand concerning their last ends.
Psalms 72:17His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed. His name is to the age, Before the sun is his name continued, And they bless themselves in him, All nations do pronounce him happy. But indeed for deceits thou hast put it to them: when they were lifted up thou hast cast them down.
Psalms 72:18Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel, Who alone does marvelous deeds.Blessed is Jehovah God, God of Israel, He alone is doing wonders,How are they brought to desolation? they have suddenly ceased to be: they have perished by reason of their iniquity.
Psalms 72:19Blessed be his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and amen. And blessed [is] the Name of His honour to the age, And the whole earth is filled [with] His honour. Amen, and amen!As the dream of them that awake, O Lord; so in thy city thou shalt bring their image to nothing.
Psalms 72:20This ends the prayers by David, the son of Jesse. BOOK III Psalm 73 A Psalm by Asaph. The prayers of David son of Jesse have been ended. For my heart hath been inflamed, and my reins have been changed:
