Isaiah 57:1The righteous hath perished, And there is none laying [it] to heart, And men of kindness are gathered, Without any considering that from the face of evil Gathered is the righteous one.The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come]. The upright man goes to his death, and no one gives a thought to it; and god-fearing men are taken away, and no one is troubled by it; for the upright man is taken away because of evil-doing, and goes into peace. The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come].
Isaiah 57:2He entereth into peace, they rest on their beds, [Each] is going straightforward. He entereth into peace; they rest in their beds, each one that walketh in his uprightness. They are at rest in their last resting-places, every one going straight before him.He enters into peace; they rest in their beds, each one who walks in his uprightness.
Isaiah 57:3And ye, come near hither, O sons of a sorceress, seed of an adulterer, Even thou dost commit whoredom. But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the harlot. But come near, you sons of her who is wise in secret arts, the seed of her who is false to her husband, and of the loose woman. But draw near here, you sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the prostitute.
Isaiah 57:4Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom enlarge ye the mouth? Prolong ye the tongue? Are not ye children of transgression? a false seed?Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and put out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, Of whom do you make sport? against whom is your mouth open wide and your tongue put out? are you not uncontrolled children, a false seed,Against whom do you sport yourselves? against whom make you a wide mouth, and put out the tongue? Aren't you children of disobedience, a seed of falsehood,
Isaiah 57:5Who are inflamed among oaks, under every green tree, Slaughtering the children in valleys, Under clefts of the rocks.ye that inflame yourselves among the oaks, under every green tree; that slay the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks? You who are burning with evil desire among the oaks, under every green tree; putting children to death in the valleys, under the cracks of the rocks?you who inflame yourselves among the oaks, under every green tree; who kill the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?
Isaiah 57:6Among the smooth things of a brook [is] thy portion, They they [are] thy lot, Also to them thou hast poured out an oblation, Thou hast caused a present to ascend, For these things am I comforted?Among the smooth [stones] of the valley is thy portion; they, they are thy lot; even to them hast thou poured a drink-offering, thou hast offered an oblation. Shall I be appeased for these things? Among the smooth stones of the valley is your heritage; they, even they, are your part: even to them have you made a drink offering and a meal offering. Is it possible for such things to be overlooked by me?Among the smooth [stones] of the valley is your portion; they, they are your lot; even to them have you poured a drink-offering, you have offered an offering. Shall I be appeased for these things?
Isaiah 57:7On a mountain, high and exalted, Thou hast set thy couch, Also thither thou hast gone up to make a sacrifice.Upon a high and lofty mountain hast thou set thy bed; thither also wentest thou up to offer sacrifice. You have put your bed on a high mountain: there you went up to make your offering. On a high and lofty mountain have you set your bed; there also went you up to offer sacrifice.
Isaiah 57:8And behind the door, and the post, Thou hast set up thy memorial, For from Me thou hast removed, and goest up, Thou hast enlarged thy couch, And dost covenant for thyself among them, Thou hast loved their couch, the station thou sawest,And behind the doors and the posts hast thou set up thy memorial: for thou hast uncovered [thyself] to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them: thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it. And on the back of the doors and on the pillars you have put your sign: for you have been false to me with another; you have made your bed wide, and made an agreement with them; you had a desire for their bed where you saw itBehind the doors and the posts have you set up your memorial: for you have uncovered [yourself] to another than me, and are gone up; you have enlarged your bed, and made you a covenant with them: you loved their bed where you saw it.
Isaiah 57:9And goest joyfully to the king in ointment, And dost multiply thy perfumes, And sendest thine ambassadors afar off, And humblest thyself unto Sheol. And thou wentest to the king with oil, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thine ambassadors far off, and didst debase thyself even unto Sheol. And you went to Melech with oil and much perfume, and you sent your representatives far off, and went as low as the underworld. You went to the king with oil, and did increase your perfumes, and did send your ambassadors far off, and did debase yourself even to Sheol.
Isaiah 57:10In the greatness of thy way thou hast laboured, Thou hast not said, `It is desperate.` The life of thy hand thou hast found, Therefore thou hast not been sick.Thou wast wearied with the length of thy way; yet saidst thou not, It is in vain: thou didst find a quickening of thy strength; therefore thou wast not faint. You were tired with your long journeys; but you did not say, There is no hope: you got new strength, and so you were not feeble. You were wearied with the length of your way; yet you didn't say, It is in vain: you found a reviving of your strength; therefore you weren't faint.
Isaiah 57:11And of whom hast thou been afraid, and fearest, That thou liest, and Me hast not remembered? Thou hast not laid [it] to thy heart, Am not I silent, even from of old? And Me thou fearest not?And of whom hast thou been afraid and in fear, that thou liest, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of long time, and thou fearest me not? And of whom were you in fear, so that you were false, and did not keep me in mind, or give thought to it? Have I not been quiet, keeping myself secret, and so you were not in fear of me?Of whom have you been afraid and in fear, that you lie, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? Haven't I held my peace even of long time, and you don't fear me?
Isaiah 57:12I declare thy righteousness, and thy works, And they do not profit thee.I will declare thy righteousness; and as for thy works, they shall not profit thee. I will make clear what your righteousness is like and your works; you will have no profit in them.I will declare your righteousness; and as for your works, they shall not profit you.
Isaiah 57:13When thou criest, let thy gatherings deliver thee, And all of them carry away doth wind, Take away doth vanity, And whoso is trusting in Me inheriteth the land, And doth possess My holy mountain. When thou criest, let them that thou hast gathered deliver thee; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he that taketh refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain. Your false gods will not keep you safe in answer to your cry; but the wind will take them, they will be gone like a breath: but he who puts his hope in me will take the land, and will have my holy mountain as his heritage. When you cry, let those who you have gathered deliver you; but the wind shall take them, a breath shall carry them all away: but he who takes refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.
Isaiah 57:14And he hath said, `Raise up, raise up, prepare a way, Lift a stumbling-block out of the way of My people.`And he will say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling-block out of the way of my people. And I will say, Make it high, make it high, get ready the way, take the stones out of the way of my people. He will say, Cast you up, cast you up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling-block out of the way of my people.
Isaiah 57:15For thus said the high and exalted One, Inhabiting eternity, and holy [is] His name: `In the high and holy place I dwell, And with the bruised and humble of spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of bruised ones,`For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite. For this is the word of him who is high and lifted up, whose resting-place is eternal, whose name is Holy: my resting-place is in the high and holy place, and with him who is crushed and poor in spirit, to give life to the spirit of the poor, and to make strong the heart of the crushed. For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Isaiah 57:16For, not to the age do I strive, nor for ever am I wroth, For the spirit from before Me is feeble, And the souls I have made. For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made. For I will not give punishment for ever, or be angry without end: for from me breath goes out; and I it was who made the souls. For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls who I have made.
Isaiah 57:17For the iniquity of his dishonest gain, I have been wroth, and I smite him, Hiding and am wroth, And he goeth on turning back in the way of his heart. For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him; I hid [my face] and was wroth; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I was quickly angry with his evil ways, and sent punishment on him, veiling my face in wrath: and he went on, turning his heart from me.For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him; I hid [my face] and was angry; and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.
Isaiah 57:18His ways I have seen, and I heal him, yea, I lead him, And recompense comforts to him and to his mourning ones.I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. I have seen his ways, and I will make him well: I will give him rest, comforting him and his people who are sad.I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
Isaiah 57:19Producing the fruit of the lips, `Peace, peace,` to the far off, and to the near, And I have healed him, said Jehovah.I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him that is far off and to him that is near, saith Jehovah; and I will heal him. I will give the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is near and to him who is far off, says the Lord; and I will make him well.I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near, says Yahweh; and I will heal him.
Isaiah 57:20And the wicked [are] as the driven out sea, For to rest it is not able, And its waters cast out filth and mire. But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt. But the evil-doers are like the troubled sea, for which there is no rest, and its waters send up earth and waste. But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it can't rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt.
Isaiah 57:21There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked! There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. There is no peace, says my God, for the evil-doers.There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked.
