Psalms 37:1By David. Do not fret because of evil doers, Be not envious against doers of iniquity,<Of David.> Do not be angry because of the wrongdoers, or have envy of the workers of evil.Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, Neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness. A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath.
Psalms 37:2For as grass speedily they are cut off, And as the greenness of the tender grass do fade. For they will quickly be cut down like grass, and become dry like the green plants. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath.
Psalms 37:3Trust in Jehovah, and do good, Dwell [in] the land, and enjoy faithfulness,Have faith in the Lord, and do good; be at rest in the land, and go after righteousness.Trust in Jehovah, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on [his] faithfulness. For thy arrows are fastened in me : and thy hand hath been strong upon me.
Psalms 37:4And delight thyself on Jehovah, And He giveth to thee the petitions of thy heart. So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires.Delight thyself also in Jehovah; And he will give thee the desires of thy heart. There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath : there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins.
Psalms 37:5Roll on Jehovah thy way, And trust upon Him, and He worketh,Put your life in the hands of the Lord; have faith in him and he will do it.Commit thy way unto Jehovah; Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass. For my iniquities are gone over my head : and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.
Psalms 37:6And hath brought out as light thy righteousness, And thy judgment as noon-day.And he will make your righteousness be seen like the light, and your cause like the shining of the sun.And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, And thy justice as the noon-day. My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness.
Psalms 37:7Be silent for Jehovah, and stay thyself for Him, Do not fret because of him Who is making prosperous his way, Because of a man doing wicked devices.Take your rest in the Lord, waiting quietly for him; do not be angry because of the man who does well in his evil ways, and gives effect to his bad designs.Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end : I walked sorrowful all the day long.
Psalms 37:8Desist from anger, and forsake fury, Fret not thyself only to do evil.Put an end to your wrath and be no longer bitter; do not give way to angry feeling which is a cause of sin.Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself, [it tendeth] only to evil-doing. For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.
Psalms 37:9For evil doers are cut off, As to those waiting on Jehovah, they possess the land. For the evil-doers will be cut off: but those who have faith in the Lord will have the earth for their heritage. For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit the land. I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly : I roared with the groaning of my heart.
Psalms 37:10And yet a little, and the wicked is not, And thou hast considered his place, and it is not.For in a short time the evil-doer will be gone: you will go searching for his place, and it will not be there. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee.
Psalms 37:11And the humble do possess the land, And they have delighted themselves In the abundance of peace. But the gentle will have the earth for their heritage; they will take their delight in peace without measure. But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.
Psalms 37:12The wicked is devising against the righteous, And gnashing against him his teeth. The sinner has evil designs against the upright, lifting up the voice of wrath against him.The wicked plotteth against the just, And gnasheth upon him with his teeth. My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off :
Psalms 37:13The Lord doth laugh at him, For He hath seen that his day cometh. He will be laughed at by the Lord, who sees that his day is coming. The Lord will laugh at him; For he seeth that his day is coming. And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.
Psalms 37:14A sword have the wicked opened, And they have trodden their bow, To cause to fall the poor and needy, To slaughter the upright of the way.The evil-doers have taken out their swords, their bows are bent; for crushing the poor, and to put to death those who are upright in their ways. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay such as are upright in the way. But I, as a deaf man, heard not : and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.
Psalms 37:15Their sword doth enter into their own heart, And their bows are shivered. But their swords will be turned into their hearts, and their bows will be broken.Their sword shall enter into their own heart, And their bows shall be broken. And I became as a man that heareth not : and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.
Psalms 37:16Better [is] the little of the righteous, Than the store of many wicked. The little which the good man has is better than the wealth of evil-doers.Better is a little that the righteous hath Than the abundance of many wicked. For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped : thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.
Psalms 37:17For the arms of the wicked are shivered, And Jehovah is sustaining the righteous. For the arms of the evil-doers will be broken: but the Lord is the support of the good. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; But Jehovah upholdeth the righteous. For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me : and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.
Psalms 37:18Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect, And their inheritance is to the age.The days of the upright are numbered by the Lord, and their heritage will be for ever.Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; And their inheritance shall be for ever. For I am ready for scourges : and my sorrow is continually before me.
Psalms 37:19They are not ashamed in a time of evil, And in days of famine they are satisfied. They will not be shamed in the evil time, and in the days when all are in need of food they will have enough. They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. For I will declare my inequity : and I will think for my sin.
Psalms 37:20But the wicked perish, and the enemies of Jehovah, As the preciousness of lambs, Have been consumed, In smoke they have been consumed. But the wrongdoers will come to destruction, and the haters of the Lord will be like the fat of lambs, they will be burned up; they will go up in smoke, and never again be seen. But the wicked shall perish, And the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: They shall consume; In smoke shall they consume away. But my enemies live, and are stronger that I : and they hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
Psalms 37:21The wicked is borrowing and repayeth not, And the righteous is gracious and giving. The sinner takes money and does not give it back; but the upright man has mercy, and gives to others. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; But the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth. They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness.
Psalms 37:22For His blessed ones do possess the land, And His reviled ones are cut off. Those who have his blessing will have the earth for their heritage; but those who are cursed by him will be cut off.For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the land; And they that are cursed of him shall be cut off. Forsake me not, O Lord my God : do not thou depart from me.
Psalms 37:23From Jehovah [are] the steps of a man, They have been prepared, And his way he desireth. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he takes delight in his way.A man's goings are established of Jehovah; And he delighteth in his way. Attend unto my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation.
Psalms 37:24When he falleth, he is not cast down, For Jehovah is sustaining his hand.Even if he has a fall he will not be without help: for the hand of the Lord is supporting him.Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For Jehovah upholdeth him with his hand.
Psalms 37:25Young I have been, I have also become old, And I have not seen the righteous forsaken, And his seed seeking bread.I have been young, and now am old, but I have not seen the good man without help, or his children looking for bread.I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.
Psalms 37:26All the day he is gracious and lending, And his seed [is] for a blessing. All the day he is ready to have mercy and to give; his children are a blessing. All the day long he dealeth graciously, and lendeth; And his seed is blessed.
Psalms 37:27Turn aside from evil, and do good, and dwell to the age.Be turned from evil, and do good; and your place will be for ever.Depart from evil, and do good; And dwell for evermore.
Psalms 37:28For Jehovah is loving judgment, And He doth not forsake His saintly ones, To the age they have been kept, And the seed of the wicked is cut off.For the Lord is a lover of righteousness, and takes care of his saints; they will be kept safe for ever; but the seed of the evil-doers will be cut off.For Jehovah loveth justice, And forsaketh not his saints; They are preserved for ever: But the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 37:29The righteous possess the land, And they dwell for ever on it.The upright will have the earth for their heritage, and will go on living there for ever. The righteous shall inherit the land, And dwell therein for ever.
Psalms 37:30The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And his tongue speaketh judgment. The mouth of the good man says words of wisdom; the talk of his tongue is of righteousness. The mouth of the righteous talketh of wisdom, And his tongue speaketh justice.
Psalms 37:31The law of his God [is] his heart, His steps do not slide. The law of his God is in his heart; he will never make a false step. The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.
Psalms 37:32The wicked is watching for the righteous, And is seeking to put him to death. The sinners are watching the upright man, desiring to put him to death. The wicked watcheth the righteous, And seeketh to slay him.
Psalms 37:33Jehovah doth not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him in his being judged. The Lord will not give him into their hands, or be against him when he is judged.Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged.
Psalms 37:34Look unto Jehovah, and keep His way, And He doth exalt thee to possess the land, In the wicked being cut off thou seest!Be waiting for the Lord, and keep his way; and you will be lifted up, and have the land for your heritage: when the evil-doers are cut off, you will see it.Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, And he will exalt thee to inherit the land: When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Psalms 37:35I have seen the wicked terrible, And spreading as a green native plant,I have seen the evil-doer in great power, covering the earth like a great tree.I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.
Psalms 37:36And he passeth away, and lo, he is not, And I seek him, and he is not found! But he came to an end, and there was no sign of him; I made a search for him and he was not there. But one passed by, and, lo, he was not: Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
Psalms 37:37Observe the perfect, and see the upright, For the latter end of each [is] peace.Give attention to the good man, and take note of the upright; because the end of that man is peace.Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; For there is a [happy] end to the man of peace.
Psalms 37:38And transgressors were destroyed together, The latter end of the wicked was cut off.But as for the sinners, they will be cut off together; the end of the wrongdoers is destruction. As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together; The end of the wicked shall be cut off.
Psalms 37:39And the salvation of the righteous [is] from Jehovah, Their strong place in a time of adversity. But the Lord is the saviour of the upright: he is their strength in the time of trouble. But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
Psalms 37:40And Jehovah doth help them and deliver them, He delivereth them from the wicked, And saveth them, Because they trusted in Him!And the Lord will be their help, and keep them safe: he will take them out of the hands of the evil-doers, and be their saviour, because they had faith in him.And Jehovah helpeth them, and rescueth them; He rescueth them from the wicked, and saveth them, Because they have taken refuge in him. Psalm 38 A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.
