Psalms 76:1To the Overseer with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah [is] God known, in Israel His name [is] great.<To the chief music-maker; put to Neginoth. A Psalm. Of Asaph. A Song.>{To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph: a Song.} In Judah is God known, his name is great in Israel;Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.
Psalms 76:2And His tabernacle is in Salem, And His habitation in Zion.In Judah is the knowledge of God; his name is great in Israel,And in Salem is his tent, and his dwelling-place in Zion.I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.
Psalms 76:3There he hath shivered arrows of a bow, Shield, and sword, and battle. Selah. In Salem is his tent, his resting-place in Zion. There broke he the flashings of the bow, shield and sword and battle. Selah. In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:
Psalms 76:4Bright [art] Thou, honourable above hills of prey. There were the arrows of the bow broken, there he put an end to body-cover, sword, and fight. (Selah.)More glorious art thou, more excellent, than the mountains of prey.I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.
Psalms 76:5Spoiled themselves have the mighty of heart, They have slept their sleep, And none of the men of might found their hands. You are shining and full of glory, more than the eternal mountains. The stout-hearted are made a spoil, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands. My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.
Psalms 76:6From Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse have been fast asleep.Gone is the wealth of the strong, their last sleep has overcome them; the men of war have become feeble. At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.
Psalms 76:7Thou, fearful [art] Thou, And who doth stand before Thee, Since Thou hast been angry! At the voice of your wrath, O God of Jacob, deep sleep has overcome carriage and horse.Thou, thou art to be feared, and who can stand before thee when once thou art angry? And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.
Psalms 76:8From heaven Thou hast sounded judgment, Earth hath feared, and hath been still,You, you are to be feared; who may keep his place before you in the time of your wrath?Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from the heavens; the earth feared, and was still,Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?
Psalms 76:9In the rising of God to judgment, To save all the humble of earth. Selah. From heaven you gave your decision; the earth, in its fear, gave no sound,When God rose up to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?
Psalms 76:10For the fierceness of man praiseth Thee, The remnant of fierceness Thou girdest on.When God took his place as judge, for the salvation of the poor on the earth. (Selah.)For the fury of man shall praise thee; the remainder of fury wilt thou gird on thyself.Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?
Psalms 76:11Vow and complete to Jehovah your God, All ye surrounding him. They bring presents to the Fearful One.The ... will give you praise; the rest of ...Vow and pay unto Jehovah your God: let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that is to be feared. And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.
Psalms 76:12He doth gather the spirit of leaders, Fearful to the kings of earth!Give to the Lord your God what is his by right; let all who are round him give offerings to him who is to be feared. He cutteth off the spirit of princes; [he] is terrible to the kings of the earth.I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.
