| Isaiah 10:1 | Wo [to] those decreeing decrees of iniquity, And writers who have prescribed perverseness. | Cursed are those who make evil decisions, and the writers who make the records of their cruel acts: | Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; | Woe to them that make wicked laws: and when they write, write injustice: |
| Isaiah 10:2 | To turn aside from judgment the poor, And to take violently away the judgment Of the afflicted of My people, That widows may be their prey, That the fatherless they may spoil. | Who do wrong to the poor in their cause, and take away the right of the crushed among my people, so that they may have the property of widows, and get under their power those who have no father. | To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless! | To oppress the poor in judgment, and do violence to the cause of the humble of my people: that widows might be their prey, and that they might rob the fatherless. |
| Isaiah 10:3 | And what do ye at a day of inspection? And at desolation? from afar it cometh. Near whom do ye flee for help? And where do ye leave your honour? | And what will you do in the day of punishment, and in the destruction which is coming from far? to whom will you go for help, and what will become of your glory? | And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory? | What will you do in the day of visitation, and of the calamity which cometh from afar? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory? |
| Isaiah 10:4 | Without Me it hath bowed down In the place of a bound one, And in the place of the slain they fall. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out. | ... For all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. | Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. | That you be not bowed down under the bond, and fall with the slain? In all these things his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. |
| Isaiah 10:5 | Wo [to] Asshur, a rod of Mine anger, And a staff in their hand [is] Mine indignation. | Ho! Assyrian, the rod of my wrath, the instrument of my punishment! | O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. | Woe to the Assyrian, he is the rod and the staff of my anger, and my indignation is in their hands. |
| Isaiah 10:6 | Against a profane nation I send him, And concerning a people of My wrath I charge him, To spoil spoil, and to seize prey, And to make it a treading-place as the clay of out places. | I will send him against a nation of wrongdoers, and against the people of my wrath I will give him orders, to take their wealth in war, crushing them down like the dust in the streets. | I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. | I will send him to a deceitful nation, and I will give him a charge against the people of my wrath, to take away the spoils, and to lay hold on the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. |
| Isaiah 10:7 | And he he thinketh not so, And his heart reckoneth not so, For to destroy [is] in his heart, And to cut off nations not a few. | But this is not what is in his mind, and this is not his design; but his purpose is destruction, and the cutting off of more and more nations. | Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. | But he shall not take it so, and his heart shall not think so: but his heart shall be set to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few. |
| Isaiah 10:8 | For he saith, `Are not my princes altogether kings? | For he says, Are not all my captains kings? | For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? | For he shall say: |
| Isaiah 10:9 | Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? | Will not the fate of Calno be like that of Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? | Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? | Are not my princes as so many kings ? is not Calano as Charcamis: and Emath as Arphad? is not Samaria as Damascus? |
| Isaiah 10:10 | As my hand hath got to the kingdoms of a worthless thing, and their graven images, [Greater] than Jerusalem and than Samaria, | As my hand has come on the kingdoms of the images, whose pictured images were more in number than those of Jerusalem and Samaria; | As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; | As my hand hath found the king- dome of the idol, so also their idols of Jerusalem, and of Samaria. |
| Isaiah 10:11 | Do I not as I have done to Samaria, And to her worthless things, So do to Jerusalem and to her grievous things? | So, as I have done to Samaria and her images, I will do to Jerusalem and her images. | Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? | Shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? |
| Isaiah 10:12 | And it hath come to pass, When the Lord doth fulfil all His work In mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I see concerning the fruit of the greatness Of the heart of the king of Asshur. And concerning the glory of the height of his eyes. | For this cause it will be that, when the purpose of the Lord against Mount Zion and Jerusalem is complete, I will send punishment on the pride of the heart of the king of Assyria, and on the glory of his uplifted eyes. | Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. | And it shall come to pass, that when the Lord shall have performed all his works in mount Sion, and in Jerusalem, I will visit the fruit of the proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of the haughtiness of his eyes. |
| Isaiah 10:13 | For he hath said, `By the power of my hand I have wrought, And by my wisdom, for I have been intelligent, And I remove borders of the peoples, And their chief ones I have spoiled, And I put down as a mighty one the inhabitants, | For he has said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my knowledge, for I am wise: and I have taken away the limits of the peoples' lands, and the stores of their wealth have become mine; and I have made towns low in the dust, sending destruction on those living in them; | For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: | For he hath said: By the strength of my own hand I have done it, and by my own wisdom I have understood: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have taken the spoils of the princes, and as a mighty man hath pulled down them that sat on high. |
| Isaiah 10:14 | And my hand as to a nest Getteth to the wealth of the peoples, And as a gathering of forsaken eggs All the earth I I have gathered, And there hath not been one moving wing, Or opening mouth, or whispering.` | And I have put my hands on the wealth of the peoples, as on the place where a bird has put her eggs; and as a man may take the eggs from which a bird has gone, so I have taken all the earth for myself: and not a wing was moved, and not a mouth gave out a sound. | And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. | And my hand hath found the strength of the people as a nest; and as eggs are gathered, that are left, so have I gathered all the earth: and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or made the least noise. |
| Isaiah 10:15 | Doth the axe glorify itself Against him who is hewing with it? Doth the saw magnify itself Against him who is shaking it? As a rod waving those lifting it up! As a staff lifting up that which is not wood! | Will the axe say high-sounding words against him who is using it, or the blade be full of pride against him who is cutting with it? As if a rod had the power of shaking him who is using it, or as if a stick might take up him who is not wood. | Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. | Shall the axe boast itself against him that cutteth with it? or shall the saw exalt itself against him by whom it is drawn? as if a rod should lift itself up against him that lifteth it up, and a staff exalt itself, which is but wood. |
| Isaiah 10:16 | Therefore doth the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, Send among his fat ones leanness, And under his honour He kindleth a burning As the burning of a fire. | For this cause the Lord, the Lord of armies, will make his fat become wasted; and in his inner parts a fire will be lighted like a burning flame. | Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. | Therefore the sovereign Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall send leanness among his fat ones: and under his glory shall be kindled a burning, as it were the burning of a fire. |
| Isaiah 10:17 | And the light of Israel hath been for a fire, And his Holy One for a flame, And it hath burned, and devoured his thorn And his brier in one day. | And the light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: wasting and burning up his thorns in one day. | And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; | And the light of Israel shall be as a fire, and the Holy One thereof as a flame: and his thorns and his briers shall be set on fire, and shall be devoured in one day. |
| Isaiah 10:18 | And the honour of his forest, and his fruitful field, From soul even unto flesh He doth consume, And it hath been as the fainting of a standard-bearer. | And he will put an end to the glory of his woods and of his planted fields, soul and body together; and it will be as when a man is wasted by disease. | And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. | And the glory of his forest, and of his beautiful hill, shall be consumed from the soul even to the flesh, and he shall run away through fear. |
| Isaiah 10:19 | And the rest of the trees of his forest [are] few, And a youth doth write them. | And the rest of the trees of his wood will be small in number, so that a child may put them down in writing. | And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them. | And they that remain of the trees of his forest shall be so few, that they shall easily be numbered, and a child shall write them down. |
| Isaiah 10:20 | And it hath come to pass, in that day, The remnant of Israel, And the escaped of the house of Jacob, Do not add any more to lean on its smiter, And have leant on Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel, in truth. | And it will be in that day that the rest of Israel, and those of Jacob who have come safely through these troubles, will no longer go for help to him whose rod was on their back, but their faith will be in the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and they that shall escape of the house of Jacob, shall lean no more upon him that striketh them: but they shall lean upon the Lord the Holy One of Israel, in truth. |
| Isaiah 10:21 | A remnant returneth a remnant of Jacob, Unto the Mighty God. | The rest, even the rest of Jacob, will come back to the Strong God. | The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. | The remnant shall be converted, the remnant, I say, of Jacob, to the mighty God. |
| Isaiah 10:22 | For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, A remnant doth return of it, A consumption determined, Overflowing [with] righteousness. | For though your people, O Israel, are as the sand of the sea, only a small number will come back: for the destruction is fixed, overflowing in righteousness. | For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. | For if thy people, O Israel, shall be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them shall be converted, the consumption abridged shall overflow with justice. |
| Isaiah 10:23 | For a consumption that is determined, The Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is making in the midst of all the land. | For the Lord, the Lord of armies, is about to make destruction complete in all the land. | For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land. | For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, and an abridgment in the midst of all the land. |
| Isaiah 10:24 | Therefore, thus said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, `Be not afraid, my people, inhabiting Zion, because of Asshur, With a rod he doth smite thee, And his staff lifteth up against thee, in the way of Egypt. | For this cause the Lord, the Lord of armies, says, O my people living in Zion, have no fear of the Assyrian, even if his rod comes on your back, and his stick is lifted up as in Egypt. | Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. | Therefore, thus saith the Lord the God of hosts: O my people that dwellest in Sion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall strike thee with his rod, and he shall lift up his staff over thee in the way of Egypt. |
| Isaiah 10:25 | For yet a very little, And the indignation hath been completed, And Mine anger by their wearing out. | For in a very short time my passion will be over, and my wrath will be turned to their destruction. | For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. | For yet a little and a very little while, and my indignation shall cease, and my wrath shall be upon their wickedness. |
| Isaiah 10:26 | And awaking for him is Jehovah of Hosts, A scourge like the smiting of Midian at the rock Oreb, And his rod [is] over the sea, And he hath lifted it in the way of Egypt. | And the Lord of armies will be shaking a whip against him, as when he overcame Midian at the rock of Oreb: and his rod will be lifted up against them as it was against the Egyptians. | And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. | And the Lord of hosts shall raise up a scourge against him, according to the slaughter of Madian in the rock of Oreb, and his rod over the sea, and he shall lift it up in the way of Egypt. |
| Isaiah 10:27 | And it hath come to pass, in that day, Turned is his burden from off thy shoulder, And his yoke from off thy neck, And destroyed hath been the yoke, because of prosperity. | And in that day the weight which he put on your back will be taken away, and his yoke broken from off your neck. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall putrify at the presence of the oil. |
| Isaiah 10:28 | He hath come in against Aiath, He hath passed over into Migron, At Michmash he looketh after his vessels. | He has gone up from Pene-Rimmon, he has come to Aiath; he has gone past Migron, at Michmash he puts his forces in order. | He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages: | He shall come into Aiath, he shall pass into Magron: at Machmas he shall lay up his carriages. |
| Isaiah 10:29 | They have gone over the passage, Geba they have made a lodging place, Trembled hath Rama, Gibeah of Saul fled. | They have gone across the mountain; Geba will be our resting-place tonight, they say: Ramah is shaking with fear; Gibeah of Saul has gone in flight. | They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled. | They have passed in haste, Gaba is our lodging: Rama was astonished, Gabaath of Saul fled away. |
| Isaiah 10:30 | Cry aloud [with] thy voice, daughter of Gallim, Give attention, Laish! answer her, Anathoth. | Give a loud cry, daughter of Gallim; let Laishah give ear; let Anathoth give answer to her. | Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth. | Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim, attend, O Laisa, poor Anathoth. |
| Isaiah 10:31 | Fled away hath Madmenah, The inhabitants of the high places have hardened themselves. | Madmenah has gone; the men of Gebim are putting their goods in a safe place. | Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee. | Medemena is removed: ye inhabitants of Gabim, take courage. |
| Isaiah 10:32 | Yet to-day in Nob to remain, Wave its hand doth the mount of the daughter of Zion, The hill of Jerusalem. | This very day he is stopping at Nob; he is shaking his hand against the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. | As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. | It is yet day enough, to remain in Nobe: he shall shake his hand against the mountain of the daughter of Sion, the hill of Jerusalem. |
| Isaiah 10:33 | Lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is lopping a branch with violence, And the high of stature are cut down, And the lofty are become low, | See, the Lord, the Lord of armies, is cutting off his branches with a great noise, and his strong ones are falling and his high ones are coming down. | Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled. | Behold the sovereign Lord of hosts shall break the earthen vessel with terror, and the tall of stature shall be cut down, and the lofty shall be humbled. |
| Isaiah 10:34 | And He hath gone round the thickets of the forest with iron, And Lebanon by a mighty one falleth! | And he is cutting down the thick places of the wood with an axe, and Lebanon with its tall trees is coming down. | And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one. | And the thickets of the forest shall be cut down with iron, and Libanus with its high ones shall fall. |
