Psalms 52:1To the Overseer. An instruction, by David, in the coming in of Doeg the Edomite, and he declareth to Saul, and saith to him, `David came in unto the house of Ahimelech.` What, boasteth thou in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God [is] all the day.<To the chief music-maker. Maschil. Of David. When Doeg the Edomite came to Saul saying, David has come to the house of Ahimelech.> Why do you take pride in wrongdoing, lifting yourself up against the upright man all the day?Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.Unto the end, for Maeleth, understandings to David. The fool said in his hear t: There is no God.
Psalms 52:2Mischiefs doth thy tongue devise, Like a sharp razor, working deceit.Purposing destruction, using deceit; your tongue is like a sharp blade.Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. They are corrupted, and become abominable in iniquities: there is none that doth good.
Psalms 52:3Thou hast loved evil rather than good, Lying, than speaking righteousness. Selah. You have more love for evil than for good, for deceit than for works of righteousness. (Selah.)Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.God looked down from heaven on the children of men: to see if there were any that did understand, or did seek God.
Psalms 52:4Thou hast loved all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.Destruction is in all your words, O false tongue.Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. All have gone aside, they are become unprofitable together, there is none that doth good, no not one.
Psalms 52:5Also God doth break thee down for ever, Taketh thee, and pulleth thee out of the tent, And He hath uprooted thee Out of the land of the living. Selah. But God will put an end to you for ever; driving you out from your tent, uprooting you from the land of the living. (Selah.)God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.Shall not all the workers of iniquity know, who eat up my people as they eat bread?
Psalms 52:6And the righteous see, And fear, and laugh at him.The upright will see it with fear, and will say, laughing at you:The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:They have not called upon God: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. For God hath scattered the bones of them that please men: they have been confounded, because God hath despised them.
Psalms 52:7`Lo, the man who maketh not God his strong place, And trusteth in the abundance of his riches, He is strong in his mischiefs.`See, this is the man who did not make God his strength, but had faith in his goods and his property, and made himself strong in his wealth.Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. Who will give out of Sion the salvation of Israel? when God shall bring back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 52:8And I, as a green olive in the house of God, I have trusted in the kindness of God, To the age and for ever,But I am like a branching olive-tree in the house of God; I have put my faith in his mercy for ever and ever. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
Psalms 52:9I thank Thee to the age, because Thou hast done [it], And I wait [on] Thy name for [it is] good before Thy saints!I will give you praise without end for what you have done; I will give honour to your name before your saints, for it is good.I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
