Psalms 60:1To the Overseer. `Concerning the Lily of Testimony,` a secret treasure of David, to teach, in his striving with Aram-Naharaim, and with Aram-Zobah, and Joab turneth back and smiteth Edom in the valley of Salt twelve thousand. O God, Thou hadst cast us off, Thou hadst broken us hadst been angry! -- Thou dost turn back to us.<To the chief music-maker; put to Shushan-eduth. Michtam. Of David. For teaching. When he was fighting against Aram-naharaim and Aramzobah, when Joab came back, and put twelve thousand of the Edomites to death, in the Valley of Salt.> God, you have put us away from you, you have sent us in all directions, you have been angry; O be turned to us again.O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.Unto the end, in hymns, for David.
Psalms 60:2Thou hast caused the land to tremble, Thou hast broken it, Heal its breaches, for it hath moved.By the power of your hand the earth is shaking and broken; make it strong again, for it is moved.Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.Hear, O God, my supplication: be attentive to my prayer,
Psalms 60:3Thou hast shewn Thy people a hard thing, Thou hast caused us to drink wine of trembling.You have made the people see hard times; you have given us the wine of shaking for our drink.Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.To thee have I cried from the ends of the earth: when my heart was in anguish, thou hast exalted me on a rock. Thou hast conducted me;
Psalms 60:4Thou hast given to those fearing thee an ensign. To be lifted up as an ensign Because of truth. Selah.Give a safe place to those who have fear of you, where they may go in flight from before the bow. (Selah.)Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.for thou hast been my hope; a tower of strength against the face of the enemy.
Psalms 60:5That Thy beloved ones may be drawn out, Save [with] Thy right hand, and answer us.So that your loved ones may be made safe, let your right hand be my salvation, and give me an answer.That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.In thy tabernacle I shall dwell for ever: I shall be protected under the covert of thy wings.
Psalms 60:6God hath spoken in His holiness: I exult I apportion Shechem, And the valley of Succoth I measure,God has said in his holy place, I will be glad: I will make a division of Shechem, and the valley of Succoth will be measured out.God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.For thou, my God, hast heard my prayer: thou hast given an inheritance to them that fear thy name.
Psalms 60:7Mine [is] Gilead, and mine [is] Manasseh, And Ephraim [is] the strength of my head, Judah [is] my lawgiver,Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;Thou wilt add days to the days of the king: his years even to generation and generation.
Psalms 60:8Moab [is] my pot for washing, over Edom I cast my shoe, Shout, concerning me, O Philistia.Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I put out my shoe; over Philistia will a glad cry be sounded.Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.He abideth for ever in the sight of God: his mercy and truth who shall search ?
Psalms 60:9Who doth bring me [to] a city of bulwarks? Who hath led me unto Edom?Who will take me into the strong town? who will be my guide into Edom?Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?So will I sing a psalm to thy name for ever and ever: that I may pay my vows from day to day.
Psalms 60:10Is it not Thou, O God? hast Thou cast us off? And dost Thou not go forth, O God, with our hosts!Have not you put us away, O God? and you have not gone out with our armies.Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
Psalms 60:11Give to us help from adversity, And vain [is] the deliverance of man.Give us help in our trouble; for there is no help in man.Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Psalms 60:12In God we do mightily, And He treadeth down our adversaries!Through God we will do great things, for through him our haters will be crushed under our feet.Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
