| Jeremiah 3:1 | Saying, `Lo, one sendeth away his wife, And she hath gone from him, And she hath been to another man, Doth he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And thou hast committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Jehovah. | They say, If a man puts away his wife and she goes from him and becomes another man's, will he go back to her again? will not that land have been made unclean? but though you have been acting like a loose woman with a number of lovers, will you now come back to me? says the Lord. | They say, If a man shall put away his wife, and she shall go from him, and become another man's, shall he return to her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. | It is commonly said: If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and marry another man, shall he return to her any more? shall not that woman be polluted, and defiled? but thou hast prostituted thyself to many lovers: nevertheless return to me, saith the Lord, and I will receive thee. |

On the ways thou hast sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And thou defilest the land, By thy fornications, and by thy wickedness. | Let your eyes be lifted up to the open hilltops, and see; where have you not been taken by your lovers? You have been seated waiting for them by the wayside like an Arabian in the waste land; you have made the land unclean with your loose ways and your evil-doing. | Lift up thy eyes to the high places, and see where thou hast not been lain with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy acts of lewdness, and with thy wickedness. | Lift up thy eyes on high: and see where thou hast not prostuted thyself: Thou didst sit in the ways, waiting for them as a robber in the wilderness: and thou hast polluted the land with thy fornications, and with thy wickedness. |

The forehead of a whorish woman thou hast, Thou hast refused to be ashamed. | So the showers have been kept back, and there has been no spring rain; still your brow is the brow of a loose woman, you will not let yourself be shamed. | Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there hath been no latter rain? and thou hadst a harlot's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed. | Therefore the showers were withholden, and there was no lateward rain: thou hadst a harlot's forehead, thou wouldst not blush. |

| Jeremiah 3:5 | Doth He keep to the age? watch for ever?` Lo, these things thou hast spoken, And thou dost the evil things, and prevailest. | Will he be angry for ever? will he keep his wrath to the end? These things you have said, and have done evil and have had your way. | Will he retain his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldst. | Wilt thou be angry for ever, or wilt thou continue until the end? Behold, thou hast spoken, and hast done evil things, and hast been able. |

She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there. | And the Lord said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen what Israel, turning away from me, has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every branching tree, acting like a loose woman there. | The LORD said also to me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she hath gone up upon every high mountain, and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. | And the Lord said to me in the days of king Josias: Hast thou seen what rebellious Israel hast done? she hath gone out of herself upon every high mountain, and under every green tree, and hath played the harlot there. |

And her false sister Judah saw it. | And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou to me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. | And when she had done all these things, I said: Return to me, and she did not return. And her treacherous sister Juda saw, |
| Jeremiah 3:8 | And I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister hath not feared, and goeth and committeth fornication she also. | And though she saw that, because Israel, turning away from me, had been untrue to me, I had put her away and given her a statement in writing ending the relation between us, still Judah, her false sister, had no fear, but went and did the same. | And I saw, when for all the causes by which backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. | That because the rebellious Israel had played the harlot, I had put her away, and had given her a bill of divorce: yet her treacherous sister Juda was not afraid, but went and played the harlot also herself. |
| Jeremiah 3:9 | And it hath come to pass, from the vileness of her fornication, that the land is defiled, and she committeth fornication with stone and with wood. | So that through all her loose behaviour the land became unclean, and she was untrue, giving herself to stones and trees. | And it came to pass through the lightness of her lewdness, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. | And by the facility of her fornication she defiled the land, and played the harlot with stones and with stocks. |
| Jeremiah 3:10 | And even in all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned back unto Me with all her heart, but with falsehood, an affirmation of Jehovah.` | But for all this, her false sister Judah has not come back to me with all her heart, but with deceit, says the Lord. | And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned to me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD. | And after all this, her treacherous sister Juda hath not returned to me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith the Lord. |
| Jeremiah 3:11 | And Jehovah saith unto me: `Justified herself hath backsliding Israel, More than treacherous Judah. | And the Lord said to me, Israel in her turning away is seen to be more upright than false Judah. | And the LORD said to me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah. | And the Lord said to me: The rebellious Israel hath justified her soul, in comparison of the treacherous Juda. |
| Jeremiah 3:12 | Go, and thou hast proclaimed these words toward the north, and hast said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I [am] kind, an affirmation of Jehovah, I watch not to the age. | Go, and give out these words to the north, and say, Come back, O Israel, though you have been turned away from me, says the Lord; my face will not be against you in wrath: for I am full of mercy, says the Lord, I will not be angry for ever. | Go and proclaim these words towards the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause my anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever. | Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and thou shalt say: Return, O rebellious Israel, saith the Lord, and I will not turn away my face from you: for I am holy, saith the Lord, and I will not be angry for ever. |

| Jeremiah 3:16 | And it hath come to pass, when ye are multiplied, And have been fruitful in the land, In those days an affirmation of Jehovah, They say not any more, `The ark of the covenant of Jehovah,` Nor doth it go up on the heart, Nor do they remember concerning it, Nor do they inspect, nor is it made again. | And it will come about, when your numbers are increased in the land, in those days, says the Lord, that they will no longer say, The ark of the agreement of the Lord: it will not come into their minds, they will not have any memory of it, or be conscious of the loss of it, and it will not be made again. | And it shall come to pass, when ye shall be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. | And when you shall be multiplied, and increase in the land in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more: The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come upon the heart, neither shall they remember it, neither shall it be visited, neither shall that be done any more. |
| Jeremiah 3:17 | At that time they cry to Jerusalem, `O throne of Jehovah,` And gathered unto her hath been all the nations, For the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem, Nor do they go any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart. | At that time Jerusalem will be named the seat of the Lord's kingdom; and all the nations will come together to it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: and no longer will their steps be guided by the purposes of their evil hearts. | At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. | At that time Jerusalem shall be called the thrown of the Lord: and all the nations shall be gathered together to it, in the name of the Lord to Jerusalem, and they shall not walk after the perversity of their most wicked heart. |

And I said: Thou shalt call me father and shalt cease to walk after me. |
| Jeremiah 3:20 | But a woman hath deceived her friend, So ye have dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah. | Truly, as a wife is false to her husband, so have you been false to me, O Israel, says the Lord. | Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. | But as a woman that despiseth her lover, so hath the house of Israel despised me, saith the Lord. |
