| 2nd-Chronicles 18:1 | And Jehoshaphat hath riches and honour in abundance, and joineth affinity to Ahab, | Now Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honour, and his son was married to Ahab's daughter. | Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab. | Now Josaphat was rich and very glorious, and was joined by affinity to Achab. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:2 | and goeth down at the end of [certain] years unto Ahab to Samaria, and Ahab sacrificeth for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people who [are] with him, and persuadeth him to go up unto Ramoth-Gilead. | And after some years he went down to Samaria to see Ahab. And Ahab made a feast for him and the people who were with him, putting to death great numbers of sheep and oxen; and he got Jehoshaphat to go with him to Ramoth-gilead. | After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up [with him] to Ramoth-gilead. | And he went down to him after some years to Samaria: and Achab at his coming killed sheep and oxen in abundance for him and the people that came with him: and he persuaded him to go up to Ramoth Galaad. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:3 | And Ahab king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, `Dost thou go with me [to] Ramoth-Gilead?` And he saith to him, `As I so thou, and as thy people my people, even with thee in battle.` | For Ahab, king of Israel, said to Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he said, I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war. | Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? He answered him, I am as you are, and my people as your people; and [we will be] with you in the war. | And Achab king of Israel said to Josaphat king of Juda: Come with me to Ramoth Galaad. And he answered him: Thou art as I am, and my people as thy people, and we will be with thee in the war. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:4 | And Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `Seek, I pray thee, this day, the word of Jehovah.` | Then Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Let us now get directions from the Lord. | Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh. | And Josaphat said to the king of Israel: Inquire, I beseech thee, at present the word of the Lord. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:5 | And the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, four hundred men, and saith unto them, `Do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?` And they say, `Go up, and God doth give [it] into the hand of the king.` | So the king of Israel got together all the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, Am I to go to Ramoth-gilead to make war or not? And they said, Go up: for God will give it into the hands of the king. | Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? They said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king. | So the king of Israel gathered together of the prophets four hundred men, and he said to them: Shall we go to Ramoth Galaad to fight, or shall we forbear ? But they said: Go up, and God will deliver it into the king's hand. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:6 | And Jehoshaphat saith, `Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah still, and we seek from him?` | But Jehoshaphat said, Is there no other prophet of the Lord here from whom we may get directions? | But Jehoshaphat said, Isn't there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him? | And Josaphat said: Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire also of him? |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:7 | And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Still one man to seek Jehovah from him, and I I have hated him, for he is not prophesying concerning me of good, but all his days of evil, he [is] Micaiah son of Imlah;` and Jehoshaphat saith, `Let not the king say so.` | And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is still one man by whom we may get directions from the Lord, but I have no love for him, because he has never been a prophet of good to me, but only of evil: he is Micaiah, the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. | The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh: but I hate him; for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. Jehoshaphat said, Don't let the king say so. | And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: There is one man, of whom we may ask the will of the Lord: but I hate him, for he never prophesieth good to me, but always evil: and it is Micheas the son of Jemla. And Josaphat said: Speak not thus, O king. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:8 | And the king of Israel calleth unto a certain officer, and saith, `Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.` | Then the king of Israel sent for one of his unsexed servants and said, Go quickly and come back with Micaiah, the son of Imla. | Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Get quickly Micaiah the son of Imla. | And the king of Israel called one of the eunuchs, and said to him : Call quickly Micheas the son of Jemla. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:9 | And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, and they are sitting in a threshing-floor at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them. | Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, were seated on their seats of authority, dressed in their robes, by the doorway into Samaria; and all the prophets were acting as prophets before them. | Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them. | Now the king of Israel, and Josaphat king of Juda, both sat on their thrones, clothed in royal robes, and they sat in the open court by the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:10 | And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, | And Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, made himself iron horns and said, The Lord says, Pushing back the Aramaeans with these, you will put an end to them completely. | Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, Thus says Yahweh, With these shall you push the Syrians, until they be consumed. | And Sedecias the son of Chanaana made him horns of iron, and said: Thus saith the Lord: With these shalt thou push Syria, till thou destroy it. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:11 | With these thou dost push Aram till thou hast consumed them.` And all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, `Go up [to] Ramath-Gilead and prosper, and Jehovah hath given [it] into the hand of the king.` | And all the prophets said the same thing, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and it will go well for you, for the Lord will give it into the hands of the king. | All the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king. | And all the prophets prophesied in like manner, and said: Go up to Ramoth Galaad, and thou shalt prosper, and the Lord will deliver them into the king's hand. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:12 | And the messenger who hath gone to call for Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, `Lo, the words of the prophets one mouth [are] good towards the king, and let, I pray thee, thy word be like one of theirs: and thou hast spoken good.` | Now the servant who had gone to get Micaiah said to him, See now, all the prophets with one voice are saying good things to the king; so let your words be like theirs, and say good things. | The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets [declare] good to the king with one mouth: let your word therefore, Please be like one of theirs, and speak you good. | And the messenger that went to call Micheas, said to him: Behold the words of all the prophets with one mouth declare good to the king: I beseech thee therefore let not thy word disagree with them, and speak thou also good success. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:13 | And Micaiah saith `Jehovah liveth, surely that which my God saith, it I speak.` | And Micaiah said, By the living Lord, whatever the Lord says to me I will say. | Micaiah said, As Yahweh lives, what my God says, that will I speak. | And Micheas answered him: As the Lord liveth, whatsoever my God shall say to me, that will I speak. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:14 | And he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, `Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?` And he saith, `Go ye up, and prosper, and they are given into your hand.` | When he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, are we to go to Ramoth-gilead to make war or not? And he said, Go up, and it will go well for you; and they will be given up into your hands. | When he was come to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? He said, Go you up, and prosper; and they shall be delivered into your hand. | So he came to the king: and the king said to him: Micheas, shall we go to Ramoth Galaad to fight, or forbear? And he answered him: Go up, for all shall succeed prosperously, and the enemies shall be delivered into your hands. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:15 | And the king saith unto him, `How many times am I adjuring thee, that thou speak unto me only truth in the name of Jehovah?` | And the king said to him, Have I not, again and again, put you on your oath to say nothing to me but what is true in the name of the Lord? | The king said to him, How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh? | And the king said: I adjure thee again and again to say nothing but the truth to me, in the name of the Lord. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:16 | And he saith, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, There are no masters to these, they turn back each to his house in peace.` | Then he said, I saw all Israel wandering on the mountains like sheep without a keeper; and the Lord said, These have no master: let them go back, every man to his house in peace. | He said, I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Yahweh said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace. | Then he said: I saw all Israel scattered in the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd : and the Lord said: These have no masters: let every man return to his own house in peace. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:17 | And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Did I not say unto thee, He doth not prophesy concerning me good, but rather of evil?` | And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not say that he would not be a prophet of good to me, but of evil? | The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Didn't I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil? | And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: Did I not tell thee that this man would not prophesy me any good, but evil? |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:18 | And he saith, `Therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah: I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing on His right and His left; | Then he said, Give ear now to the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord seated on his seat of power, and all the army of heaven in their places, at his right hand and at his left. | [Micaiah] said, Therefore hear you the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left. | Then he said: Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on the right hand and on the left. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:19 | and Jehovah saith, Who doth entice Ahab king of Israel, and he doth go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead? And this speaker saith thus, and that speaker thus. | And the Lord said, How may Ahab, king of Israel, be tricked into going up to Ramoth-gilead to his death? And one said one thing and one another. | Yahweh said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? One spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. | And the Lord said: Who shall deceive Achab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall in Ramoth Galaad? And when one spoke in this manner, and another otherwise: |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:20 | And go out doth the spirit, and stand before Jehovah, and saith, I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, With what? | Then a spirit came forward and took his place before the Lord and said, I will get him to do it by a trick. And the Lord said to him, How? | There came forth a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said, I will entice him. Yahweh said to him, 'How?' | There came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said: I will deceive him. And the Lord said to him: By what means wilt thou deceive him? |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:21 | and he saith, I go out, and have become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets. And He saith, Thou dost entice, and also, thou art able; go out and do so. | And he said, I will go out and be a spirit of deceit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Your trick will have its effect on him: go out and do so. | He said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You shall entice him, and shall prevail also: go forth, and do so.' | And he answered: I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said: Thou shalt deceive, and shalt prevail: go out, and do so. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:22 | And, now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee evil.` | And now, see, the Lord has put a spirit of deceit in the mouth of these prophets of yours; and the Lord has said evil against you. | Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you. | Now therefore behold the Lord hath put a spirit of lying in the mouth of all thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:23 | And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah cometh nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, `Where [is] this the way the Spirit of Jehovah passed over from me to speak with thee?` | Then Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, came near and gave Micaiah a blow on the side of his face, saying, Where is the spirit of the Lord whose word is in you? | Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Yahweh from me to speak to you? | And Sedecias the son of Chanaana came, and struck Micheas on the cheek and said: Which way went the spirit of the Lord from me, to speak to thee? |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:24 | And Micaiah saith, `Lo, thou dost see in that day, that thou dost enter into the innermost chamber to be hidden.` | And Micaiah said, Truly, you will see on that day when you go into an inner room to keep yourself safe. | Micaiah said, Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself. | And Micheas said :Thou thyself shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go in from chamber to chamber, to hide thyself. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:25 | And the king of Israel saith, `Take ye Micaiah, and turn him back unto Amon head of the city, and unto Joash son of the king, | And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon, the ruler of the town, and to Joash, the king's son; | The king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son; | And the king of Israel commanded, saying: Take Micheas, and carry him to Amen the governor of the city, and to Joas the son of Amelech, |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:26 | and ye have said, Thus said the king, Put ye this [one] in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat bread of oppression, and water of oppression, till my return in peace.` | And say, By the king's order this man is to be put in prison, and given prison food till I come back in peace. | and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace. | And say: Thus saith the king: Put this fellow in prison, and give him bread and water in a small quantity till I return in peace. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:27 | And Micaiah saith, `If thou dost certainly return in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me;` and he saith, `Hear ye, O peoples, all of them!` | And Micaiah said, If you come back at all in peace, the Lord has not sent his word by me. | Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me. He said, Hear, you peoples, all of you. | And Micheas said: If thou return in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said: Hear, all ye people. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:28 | And the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-Gilead; | So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went up to Ramoth-gilead. | So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. | So the king of Israel and Josaphat king of Juda went up to Ramoth Galaad. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:29 | and the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat to disguise himself, and to go into battle, `And thou, put on thy garments.` And the king of Israel disguiseth himself, and they go into battle. | And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will make a change in my clothing, so that I do not seem to be the king, and will go into the fight; but do you put on your robes. So the king of Israel made a change in his dress, and they went to the fight. | The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put you on your robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle. | And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: I will change my dress, and so I will go to the battle, but put thou on thy own garments. And the king of Israel having changed his dress, went to the battle. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:30 | And the king of Aram hath commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath, saying, `Ye do not fight with small or with great, except with the king of Israel by himself.` | Now the king of Aram had given orders to the captains of his war-carriages, saying, Make no attack on small or great, but only on the king of Israel. | Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel. | Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his cavalry, saying: Fight ye not with small, or great, but with the king of Israel only. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:31 | And it cometh to pass at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they have said, `The king of Israel he is,` and they turn round against him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out, and Jehovah hath helped him, and God enticeth them from him, | So when the captains of the war-carriages saw Jehoshaphat, they said, It is the king of Israel. And turning about, they came round him, but Jehoshaphat gave a cry, and the Lord came to his help, and God sent them away from him. | It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they turned about to fight against him: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them [to depart] from him. | So when the captains of the cavalry saw Josaphat, they said: This is the king of Israel. And they surrounded him to attack him: but he cried to the Lord, and he helped him, and turned them away from him. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:32 | yea, it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that it hath not been the king of Israel they turn back from after him. | Now when the captains of the war-carriages saw that he was not the king of Israel, they went back from going after him. | It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him. | For when the captains of the cavalry saw, that he was not the king of Israel, they left him. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:33 | And a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to the charioteer, `Turn thy hand, and thou hast brought me out of the camp, for I have become sick.` | And a certain man sent an arrow from his bow without thought of its direction, and gave the king of Israel a wound where his breastplate was joined to his clothing; so he said to the driver of his war-carriage, Go to one side and take me away out of the army, for I am badly wounded. | A certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor: why he said to the driver of the chariot, Turn your hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded. | And it happened that one of the people shot an arrow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the neck and the shoulders, and he said to his chariot man: Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded. |
| 2nd-Chronicles 18:34 | And the battle increaseth on that day, and the king of Israel hath been stayed up in the chariot over-against Aram till the evening, and he dieth at the time of the going in of the sun. | But the fight became more violent while the day went on; and the king of Israel was supported in his war-carriage facing the Aramaeans till the evening; and by sundown he was dead. | The battle increased that day: however the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died. | And the fight was ended that day: but the king of Israel stood in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening, and died at the sunset. |
