Lamentations 5:5For our neck we have been pursued, We have laboured there hath been no rest for us.Our attackers are on our necks: overcome with weariness, we have no rest. Our pursuers are on our necks: We are weary, and have no rest.We were dragged by the necks, we were weary and no rest was given us.
Lamentations 5:6[To] Egypt we have given a hand, [To] Asshur, to be satisfied with bread. We have given our hands to the Egyptians and to the Assyrians so that we might have enough bread. We have given the hand to the Egyptians, To the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. We have given our hand to Egypt, and to the Assyrians, that we might be satisfied with bread.
Lamentations 5:7Our fathers have sinned they are not, We their iniquities have borne. Our fathers were sinners and are dead; and the weight of their evil-doing is on us.Our fathers sinned, and are no more; We have borne their iniquities. Our fathers have sinned, and are not: and we have borne their iniquities.
Lamentations 5:8Servants have ruled over us, A deliverer there is none from their hand.Servants are ruling over us, and there is no one to make us free from their hands.Servants rule over us: There is none to deliver us out of their hand.Servants have ruled over us: there was none to redeem us out of their hand.
Lamentations 5:9With our lives we bring in our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness. We put our lives in danger to get our bread, because of the sword of the waste land.We get our bread at the peril of our lives, Because of the sword of the wilderness. We fetched our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the desert.
Lamentations 5:10Our skin as an oven hath been burning, Because of the raging of the famine. Our skin is heated like an oven because of our burning heat from need of food. Our skin is black like an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine. Our skin was burnt as an oven, by reason of the violence of the famine.
Lamentations 5:11Wives in Zion they have humbled, Virgins in cities of Judah. They took by force the women in Zion, the virgins in the towns of Judah. They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah. They oppressed the women in Sion, and the virgins in the cities of Juda.

Lamentations 5:14The aged from the gate have ceased, Young men from their song. The old men are no longer seated in the doorway, and the music of the young men has come to an end.The elders have ceased from the gate, The young men from their music. The ancients have ceased from the gates: the young men from the choir of the singers.

Lamentations 5:20Why for ever dost Thou forget us? Thou forsakest us for length of days! Why have we gone from your memory for ever? why have you been turned away from us for so long? Why do you forget us forever, [And] forsake us so long time? Why wilt thou forget us for ever? why wilt thou forsake us for a long time?
Lamentations 5:21Turn us back, O Jehovah, unto Thee, And we turn back, renew our days as of old.Make us come back to you, O Lord, and let us be turned; make our days new again as in the past.Turn you us to you, Yahweh, and we shall be turned; Renew our days as of old.Convert us, O Lord, to thee, and we shall be converted: renew our days, as from the beginning.
