| Proverbs 29:7 | The righteous knoweth the plea of the poor, The wicked understandeth not knowledge. | The upright man gives attention to the cause of the poor: the evil-doer gives no thought to it. | The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren't concerned about knowledge. | The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge. |
| Proverbs 29:8 | Men of scorning ensnare a city, And the wise turn back anger. | Men of pride are the cause of violent acts in a town, but by wise men wrath is turned away. | Mockers stir up a city, But wise men turn away anger. | Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath. |
| Proverbs 29:9 | A wise man is judged by the foolish man, And he hath been angry, And he hath laughed, and there is no rest. | If a wise man goes to law with a foolish man, he may be angry or laughing, but there will be no rest. | If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, The fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace. | If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry or laugh, he shall find no rest. |

| Proverbs 29:19 | By words a servant is not instructed though he understand, And there is nothing answering. | A servant will not be trained by words; for though the sense of the words is clear to him, he will not give attention. | A servant can't be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond. | A slave will not be corrected by words: because he understandeth what thou sayest, and will not answer. |
| Proverbs 29:20 | Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words! More hope of a fool than of him. | Have you seen a man who is quick with his tongue? There is more hope for a foolish man than for him. | Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
