Psalms 11:1To the Overseer. By David. In Jehovah I trusted, how say ye to my soul, `They moved [to] Thy mountain for the bird?<For the chief music-maker. Of David.> In the Lord put I my faith; how will you say to my soul, Go in flight like a bird to the mountain? In Yahweh do I take refuge. How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain!"Unto the end; for the octave, a psalm for David.
Psalms 11:2For lo, the wicked tread a bow, They have prepared their arrow on the string, To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.See, the bows of the evil-doers are bent, they make ready their arrows on the cord, so that they may send them secretly against the upright in heart. For, behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrows on the strings, That they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.Save me, O Lord, for there is now no saint: truths are decayed from among the children of men.
Psalms 11:3When the foundations are destroyed, The righteous what hath he done?If the bases are broken down, what is the upright man to do?If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?They have spoken vain things every one to his neighbour: with deceitful lips, and with a double heart have they spoken.
Psalms 11:4`Jehovah [is] in his holy temple: Jehovah in the heavens [is] His throne. His eyes see His eyelids try the sons of men.The Lord is in his holy Temple, the Lord's seat is in heaven; his eyes are watching and testing the children of men.Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men.May the Lord destroy all deceitful lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things.
Psalms 11:5Jehovah the righteous doth try. And the wicked and the lover of violence, Hath His soul hated,The Lord puts the upright and the sinner to the test, but he has hate in his soul for the lover of violent acts.Yahweh examines the righteous, But the wicked and him who loves violence his soul hates.Who have said: We will magnify our tongue; our lips are our own; who is Lord over us?
Psalms 11:6He poureth on the wicked snares, fire, and brimstone, And a horrible wind [is] the portion of their cup.On the evil-doer he will send down fire and flames, and a burning wind; with these will their cup be full.On the wicked he will rain blazing coals; Fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.By reason of the misery of the needy, and the groans of the poor, now will I arise, saith the Lord. I win set him in safety; I will deal confidently in his regard.
Psalms 11:7For righteous [is] Jehovah, Righteousness He hath loved, The upright doth His countenance see!`For the Lord is upright; he is a lover of righteousness: the upright will see his face. For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face. Psalm 12 For the Chief Musician; upon an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David. The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried by the fire, purged from the earth refined seven times.
