Psalms 82:1A Psalm of Asaph. God hath stood in the company of God, In the midst God doth judge.<A Psalm. Of Asaph.> God is in the meeting-place of God; he is judging among the gods.God presides in the great assembly. He judges among the gods.A canticle of a psalm for Asaph.
Psalms 82:2Till when do ye judge perversely? And the face of the wicked lift up? Selah.How long will you go on judging falsely, having respect for the persons of evil-doers? (Selah.)"How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked?" Selah.O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God.
Psalms 82:3Judge ye the weak and fatherless, The afflicted and the poor declare righteous.Give ear to the cause of the poor and the children without fathers; let those who are troubled and in need have their rights."Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Psalms 82:4Let the weak and needy escape, From the hand of the wicked deliver them.Be the saviour of the poor and those who have nothing: take them out of the hand of the evil-doers.Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked."They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.
Psalms 82:5They knew not, nor do they understand, In darkness they walk habitually, Moved are all the foundations of earth.They have no knowledge or sense; they go about in the dark: all the bases of the earth are moved.They don't know, neither do they understand. They walk back and forth in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.
