| Proverbs 9:1 | Wisdom hath builded her house, She hath hewn out her pillars seven. | Wisdom has made her house, putting up her seven pillars. |
| Proverbs 9:2 | She hath slaughtered her slaughter, She hath mingled her wine, Yea, she hath arranged her table. | She has put her fat beasts to death; her wine is mixed, her table is ready. |
| Proverbs 9:3 | She hath sent forth her damsels, She crieth on the tops of the high places of the city: | She has sent out her women-servants; her voice goes out to the highest places of the town, saying, |
| Proverbs 9:4 | `Who [is] simple? let him turn aside hither.` Whoso lacketh heart: she hath said to him, | Whoever is simple, let him come in here; and to him who has no sense, she says: |
| Proverbs 9:5 | `Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine I have mingled. | Come, take of my bread, and of my wine which is mixed. |
| Proverbs 9:6 | Forsake ye, the simple, and live, And be happy in the way of understanding. | Give up the simple ones and have life, and go in the way of knowledge. |
| Proverbs 9:7 | The instructor of a scorner Is receiving for it shame, And a reprover of the wicked his blemish. | He who gives teaching to a man of pride gets shame for himself; he who says sharp words to a sinner gets a bad name. |
| Proverbs 9:8 | Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee, Give reproof to the wise, and he loveth thee. | Do not say sharp words to a man of pride, or he will have hate for you; make them clear to a wise man, and you will be dear to him. |
| Proverbs 9:9 | Give to the wise, and he is wiser still, Make known to the righteous, And he increaseth learning. | Give teaching to a wise man, and he will become wiser; give training to an upright man, and his learning will be increased. |
| Proverbs 9:10 | The commencement of wisdom [is] the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones [is] understanding. | The fear of the Lord is the start of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One gives a wise mind |
| Proverbs 9:11 | For by me do thy days multiply, And added to thee are years of life. | For by me your days will be increased, and the years of your life will be long. |
| Proverbs 9:12 | If thou hast been wise, thou hast been wise for thyself, And thou hast scorned thyself bearest [it]. | If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if your heart is full of pride, you only will have the pain of it. |
| Proverbs 9:13 | A foolish woman [is] noisy, Simple, and hath not known what. | The foolish woman is full of noise; she has no sense at all. |
| Proverbs 9:14 | And she hath sat at the opening of her house, On a throne the high places of the city, | Seated at the door of her house, in the high places of the town, |
| Proverbs 9:15 | To call to those passing by the way, Who are going straight [on] their paths. | Crying out to those who go by, going straight on their way, she says: |
| Proverbs 9:16 | `Who [is] simple? let him turn aside hither.` And whoso lacketh heart she said to him, | Whoever is simple, let him come in here: and to him who is without sense, she says: |
| Proverbs 9:17 | `Stolen waters are sweet, And hidden bread is pleasant.` | Drink taken without right is sweet, and food in secret is pleasing. |
| Proverbs 9:18 | And he hath not known that Rephaim [are] there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones! | But he does not see that the dead are there, that her guests are in the deep places of the underworld. |
