| Psalms 41:1 | To the Overseer. A Psalm of David. O the happiness of him Who is acting wisely unto the poor, In a day of evil doth Jehovah deliver him. | {To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.} Blessed is he that understandeth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil. | Unto the end, understanding for the sons of Core. | <To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David.> Happy is the man who gives thought to the poor; the Lord will be his saviour in the time of trouble. |
| Psalms 41:2 | Jehovah doth preserve him and revive him, He is happy in the land, And Thou givest him not into the will of his enemies. | Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy in the land; and thou wilt not deliver him to the will of his enemies. | As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God. | The Lord will keep him safe, and give him life; the Lord will let him be a blessing on the earth, and will not give him into the hand of his haters. |
| Psalms 41:3 | Jehovah supporteth on a couch of sickness, All his bed Thou hast turned in his weakness. | Jehovah will sustain him upon the bed of languishing: thou turnest all his bed in his sickness. | My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God? | The Lord will be his support on his bed of pain: by you will all his grief be turned to strength. |
| Psalms 41:4 | I I said, `O Jehovah, favour me, Heal my soul, for I did sin against Thee,` | As for me, I said, Jehovah, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. | My tears have been any bread day and night, whilst it is said to me daily : Where is thy God? | I said, Lord, have mercy on me; make my soul well, because my faith is in you. |
| Psalms 41:5 | Mine enemies say evil of me: When he dieth his name hath perished! | Mine enemies wish me evil: When will he die, and his name perish? | These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me : for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God : With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting. | My haters say evil against me, When will he be dead, and his name come to an end? |
| Psalms 41:6 | And if he came to see vanity he speaketh, His heart gathereth iniquity to itself, He goeth out at the street he speaketh. | And if one come to see [me], he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth wickedness to itself: he goeth abroad, he telleth [it]. | Why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, | If one comes to see me, deceit is in his heart; he keeps a store of evil, which he makes public in every place. |
| Psalms 41:7 | All hating me whisper together against me, Against me they devise evil to me: | All that hate me whisper together against me; against me do they devise my hurt. | and my God. My soul is troubled within myself : therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill. | All my haters are talking secretly together against me; they are designing my downfall. |
| Psalms 41:8 | A thing of Belial is poured out on him, And because he lay down he riseth not again. | A thing of Belial cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he is laid down, he will rise up no more. | Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me. | They say, He has an evil disease, which will not let him go: and now that he is down he will not get up again. |
| Psalms 41:9 | Even mine ally, in whom I trusted, One eating my bread, made great the heel against me, | Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I confided, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me. | In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life. | Even my dearest friend, in whom I had faith, who took bread with me, is turned against me. |
| Psalms 41:10 | And Thou, Jehovah, favour me, And cause me to rise, And I give recompence to them. | But thou, Jehovah, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. | I will say to God : Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me? | But you, O Lord, have mercy on me, lifting me up, so that I may give them their punishment. |
| Psalms 41:11 | By this I have known, That Thou hast delighted in me, Because my enemy shouteth not over me. | By this I know that thou delightest in me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. | Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day be day : Where is thy God? | By this I see that you have pleasure in me, because my hater does not overcome me. |
| Psalms 41:12 | As to me, in mine integrity, Thou hast taken hold upon me, And causest me to stand before Thee to the age. | But as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. | Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God. | And as for me, you are my support in my righteousness, giving me a place before your face for ever. |
| Psalms 41:13 | Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age and unto the age. Amen and Amen. | Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, from eternity to eternity! Amen, and Amen. | | May the Lord God of Israel be praised, through eternal days and for ever. So be it. So be it. |
