Psalms 8:1To the Overseer, `On the Gittith.` A Psalm of David. Jehovah, our Lord, How honourable Thy name in all the earth! Who settest thine honour on the heavens.{To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David.} Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.Unto the end, for the presses: a psalm of David.<To the chief music-maker on the Gittith. A Psalm. Of David.> O Lord, our Lord, whose glory is higher than the heavens, how noble is your name in all the earth!
Psalms 8:2From the mouths of infants and sucklings Thou hast founded strength, Because of Thine adversaries, To still an enemy and a self-avenger.Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in the whole earth! For thy magnificence is elevated above the heavens.You have made clear your strength even out of the mouths of babies at the breast, because of those who are against you; so that you may put to shame the cruel and violent man.
Psalms 8:3For I see Thy heavens, a work of Thy fingers, Moon and stars that Thou didst establish.When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established;Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise, because of thy enemies, that thou mayst destroy the enemy and the avenger.When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have put in their places;
Psalms 8:4What [is] man that Thou rememberest him? The son of man that Thou inspectest him?What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?For I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded.What is man, that you keep him in mind? the son of man, that you take him into account?
Psalms 8:5And causest him to lack a little of Godhead, And with honour and majesty compassest him.Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest hi?For you have made him only a little lower than the gods, crowning him with glory and honour.
Psalms 8:6Thou dost cause him to rule Over the works of Thy hands, All Thou hast placed under his feet.Thou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet:Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:You have made him ruler over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet;
Psalms 8:7Sheep and oxen, all of them, And also beasts of the field,Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;and hast set him over the works of thy hands.All sheep and oxen, and all the beasts of the field;
Psalms 8:8Bird of the heavens, and fish of the sea, Passing through the paths of the seas!The fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, [whatever] passeth through the paths of the seas.Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields.The birds of the air and the fish of the sea, and whatever goes through the deep waters of the seas.
Psalms 8:9Jehovah, our Lord, How honourable Thy name in all the earth!Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea.O Lord, our Lord, how noble is your name in all the earth!
