| Psalms 79:1 | A Psalm of Asaph. O God, nations have come into Thy inheritance, They have defiled Thy holy temple, They made Jerusalem become heaps, | {A Psalm of Asaph.} O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance: thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps. | Unto the end, for them that shall he changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm. | God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem in heaps. |
| Psalms 79:2 | They gave the dead bodies of Thy servants Food for the fowls of the heavens, The flesh of Thy saints For the wild beast of the earth. | The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowl of the heavens, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth: | Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth | They have given the dead bodies of your servants to be food for the birds of the sky, The flesh of your saints to the animals of the earth. |

Shall thy jealousy burn like fire? | O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant? | How long, Yahweh? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire? |
| Psalms 79:6 | Pour Thy fury on the nations who have not known Thee, And on kingdoms that have not called in Thy name. | Pour out thy fury upon the nations that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name: | How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure? | Pour out your wrath on the nations that don't know you; On the kingdoms that don't call on your names; |
| Psalms 79:7 | For [one] hath devoured Jacob, And his habitation they have made desolate. | For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his habitation. | Thou hast made us to be a contradiction to our neighbours: and our enemies have scoffed at us. | For they have devoured Jacob, And destroyed his homeland. |
| Psalms 79:8 | Remember not for us the iniquities of forefathers, Haste, let Thy mercies go before us, For we have been very weak. | Remember not against us the iniquities of [our] forefathers; let thy tender mercies speedily come to meet us: for we are brought very low. | O God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved. | Don't hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, For we are in desperate need. |
| Psalms 79:9 | Help us, O God of our salvation, Because of the honour of Thy name, And deliver us, and cover over our sins, For Thy name`s sake. | Help us, O God of our salvation, because of the glory of thy name; and deliver us, and forgive our sins, for thy name's sake. | Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt: thou hast cast cut the Gentiles and planted it. | Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. | Psalms 79:10 | Why do the nations say, `Where [is] their God?` Let be known among the nations before our eyes, The vengeance of the blood of Thy servants that is shed. | Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants that is shed be known among the nations in our sight. | Thou wast the guide of its journey in its sight: thou plantedst the roots thereof, and it filled the land. | Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, That vengeance for your servants' blood is being poured out. |
| Psalms 79:11 | Let the groaning of the prisoner come in before Thee, According to the greatness of Thine arm, Leave Thou the sons of death. | Let the groaning of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thine arm, preserve those that are appointed to die; | The shadow of it covered the hills: and the branches thereof the cedars of God. | Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death; |
| Psalms 79:12 | And turn Thou back to our neighbours, Sevenfold unto their bosom, their reproach, Wherewith they reproached Thee, O Lord. | And render unto our neighbours, sevenfold into their bosom, their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord. | It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river. | Pay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom Their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord. |
| Psalms 79:13 | And we, Thy people, and the flock of Thy pasture, We give thanks to Thee to the age, To all generations we recount Thy praise! | And we, thy people and the sheep of thy pasture, will give thanks unto thee for ever; we will shew forth thy praise from generation to generation. | Why hast thou broken down the hedge thereof, so that all they who pass by the way do pluck it? | So we, your people and sheep of your pasture, Will give you thanks forever.
