| Psalms 12:1 | To the Overseer, on the octave. A Psalm of David. Save, Jehovah, for the saintly hath failed, For the stedfast have ceased From the sons of men: | {To the chief Musician. Upon Sheminith. A Psalm of David.} Save, Jehovah, for the godly man is gone; for the faithful have failed from among the children of men. | Help, Yahweh; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men. | Unto the end, a psalm for David. How long, O Lord, wilt thou forget me unto the end? how long dost thou turn away thy face from me? |
| Psalms 12:2 | Vanity they speak each with his neighbour, Lip of flattery! With heart and heart they speak. | They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering lip, with a double heart, do they speak. | Everyone lies to his neighbor. With flattering lips, and with a double heart, do they speak. | How long shall I take counsels in my soul, sorrow in my heart all the day? |
| Psalms 12:3 | Jehovah doth cut off all lips of flattery, A tongue speaking great things, | Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things, | May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that boasts, | How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? |
| Psalms 12:4 | Who said, `By our tongue we do mightily: Our lips [are] our own; who [is] lord over us?` | Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail, our lips are our own: who [is] lord over us? | Who have said, "With our tongue will we prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?" | Consider, and hear me, O Lord my God. Enlighten my eyes that I never sleep in death: |
| Psalms 12:5 | Because of the spoiling of the poor, Because of the groaning of the needy, Now do I arise, saith Jehovah, I set in safety [him who] doth breathe for it. | Because of the oppression of the afflicted, because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith Jehovah, I will set [him] in safety, at whom they puff. | "Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says Yahweh; "I will set him in safety from those who malign him." | lest at any time my enemy say: I have prevailed against him. They that trouble me will rejoice when I am moved: |
| Psalms 12:6 | Sayings of Jehovah [are] pure sayings; Silver tried in a furnace of earth refined sevenfold. | The words of Jehovah are pure words, silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times. | The words of Yahweh are flawless words, As silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times. | but I have trusted in thy mercy. My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation: I will sing to the Lord, who giveth me good things: yea I will sing to the name of the Lord the most high. |
| Psalms 12:7 | Thou, O Jehovah, dost preserve them, Thou keepest us from this generation to the age. | Thou, Jehovah, wilt keep them, thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever. | You will keep them, Yahweh, You will preserve them from this generation forever. | |
| Psalms 12:8 | Around the wicked walk continually, According as vileness is exalted by sons of men! | The wicked walk about on every side, when vileness is exalted among the children of men. | The wicked walk on every side, When what is vile is exalted among the sons of men. Psalm 13 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. | |
