Psalms 42:1To the Overseer. An Instruction. By sons of Korah. As a hart doth pant for streams of water, So my soul panteth toward Thee, O God.{To the chief Musician. An instruction; of the sons of Korah.} As the hart panteth after the water-brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul after you, God.A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy : deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.
Psalms 42:2My soul thirsted for God, for the living God, When do I enter and see the face of God?My soul thirsteth for God, for the living ùGod: when shall I come and appear before God?My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?For thou art God my strength : why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?
Psalms 42:3My tear hath been to me bread day and night, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"Send forth thy light and thy truth : they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles.
Psalms 42:4These I remember, and pour out my soul in me, For I pass over into the booth, I go softly with them unto the house of God, With the voice of singing and confession, The multitude keeping feast! These things I remember and have poured out my soul within me: how I passed along with the multitude, how I went on with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a festive multitude. These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, How I used to go with the crowd, and led them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.And I will go in to the altar of God : to God who giveth joy to my youth.
Psalms 42:5What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? Yea, art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him: The salvation of my countenance My God!Why art thou cast down, my soul, and art disquieted in me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [for] the health of his countenance. Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp : why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?
Psalms 42:6In me doth my soul bow itself, Therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan, And of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar. My God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore do I remember thee from the land of the Jordan, and the Hermons, from mount Mizar. My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, The heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar.Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God.
Psalms 42:7Deep unto deep is calling At the noise of Thy water-spouts, All Thy breakers and Thy billows passed over me.Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy cataracts; all thy breakers and thy billows are gone over me.Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.
Psalms 42:8By day Jehovah commandeth His kindness, And by night a song [is] with me, A prayer to the God of my life.In the day-time will Jehovah command his loving-kindness, and in the night his song shall be with me, a prayer unto the ùGod of my life.Yahweh will command his lovingkindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: A prayer to the God of my life.
Psalms 42:9I say to God my rock, `Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning in the oppression of an enemy?I will say unto ùGod my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?I will ask God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"
Psalms 42:10With a sword in my bones Have mine adversaries reproached me, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`As with a crushing in my bones mine adversaries reproach me, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, While they continually ask me, "Where is your God?"
Psalms 42:11What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!Why art thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, The saving help of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 43
