| Psalms 76:1 | To the Overseer with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah [is] God known, in Israel His name [is] great. | {To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph: a Song.} In Judah is God known, his name is great in Israel; | In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel. | Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph. |
| Psalms 76:2 | And His tabernacle is in Salem, And His habitation in Zion. | And in Salem is his tent, and his dwelling-place in Zion. | His tent is also in Salem; His dwelling-place in Zion. | I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me. |
| Psalms 76:3 | There he hath shivered arrows of a bow, Shield, and sword, and battle. Selah. | There broke he the flashings of the bow, shield and sword and battle. Selah. | There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, The shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah. | In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted: |
| Psalms 76:4 | Bright [art] Thou, honourable above hills of prey. | More glorious art thou, more excellent, than the mountains of prey. | Glorious are you, and excellent, More than mountains of game. | I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away. |
| Psalms 76:5 | Spoiled themselves have the mighty of heart, They have slept their sleep, And none of the men of might found their hands. | The stout-hearted are made a spoil, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands. | Valiant men lie plundered, They have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands. | My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not. |
| Psalms 76:6 | From Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse have been fast asleep. | At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep. | At your rebuke, God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep. | I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years. |
| Psalms 76:7 | Thou, fearful [art] Thou, And who doth stand before Thee, Since Thou hast been angry! | Thou, thou art to be feared, and who can stand before thee when once thou art angry? | You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry? | And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit. |
| Psalms 76:8 | From heaven Thou hast sounded judgment, Earth hath feared, and hath been still, | Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from the heavens; the earth feared, and was still, | You pronounced judgment from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent, | Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again? |
| Psalms 76:9 | In the rising of God to judgment, To save all the humble of earth. Selah. | When God rose up to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. | When God arose to judgment, To save all the afflicted ones of the earth. Selah. | Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation? |
| Psalms 76:10 | For the fierceness of man praiseth Thee, The remnant of fierceness Thou girdest on. | For the fury of man shall praise thee; the remainder of fury wilt thou gird on thyself. | Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained. | Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies? |
| Psalms 76:11 | Vow and complete to Jehovah your God, All ye surrounding him. They bring presents to the Fearful One. | Vow and pay unto Jehovah your God: let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that is to be feared. | Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared. | And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High. |
| Psalms 76:12 | He doth gather the spirit of leaders, Fearful to the kings of earth! | He cutteth off the spirit of princes; [he] is terrible to the kings of the earth. | He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth. Psalm 77 For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by Asaph. | I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning. |
