Psalms 88:1A Song, a Psalm, by sons of Korah, to the Overseer, `Concerning the Sickness of Afflictions.` An instruction, by Heman the Ezrahite. O Jehovah, God of my salvation, Daily I have cried, nightly before Thee,{A Song, a Psalm for the sons of Korah. To the chief Musician. Upon Mahalath Leannoth. An instruction. Of Heman the Ezrahite.} Jehovah, God of my salvation, I have cried by day [and] in the night before thee.Yahweh, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you.Of understanding, for Ethan the Ezrahite.
Psalms 88:2My prayer cometh in before Thee, Incline Thine ear to my loud cry,Let my prayer come before thee; incline thine ear unto my cry.Let my prayer enter into your presence. Turn your ear to my cry.The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.
Psalms 88:3For my soul hath been full of evils, And my life hath come to Sheol.For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh to Sheol.For my soul is full of troubles. My life draws near to Sheol.For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.
Psalms 88:4I have been reckoned with those going down [to] the pit, I have been as a man without strength.I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no strength:I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help,I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:
Psalms 88:5Among the dead free, As pierced ones lying in the grave, Whom Thou hast not remembered any more, Yea, they by Thy hand have been cut off.Prostrate among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave; whom thou rememberest no more, and who are cut off from thy hand.Set apart among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand.Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.
Psalms 88:6Thou hast put me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in depths.Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in dark places, in the deeps.You have laid me in the lowest pit, In the darkest depths.The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints.
Psalms 88:7Upon me hath Thy fury lain, And [with] all Thy breakers Thou hast afflicted. Selah.Thy fury lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted [me] with all thy waves. Selah.Your wrath lies heavily on me. You have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah.For who in the clouds can be compared to the Lord: or who among the sons of God shall be like to God?
Psalms 88:8Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me, Thou hast made me an abomination to them, Shut up I go not forth.Thou hast put my familiar friends far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can't escape.God, who is glorified in the assembly of the saints: great and terrible above all them that are about him.
Psalms 88:9Mine eye hath grieved because of affliction, I called Thee, O Jehovah, all the day, I have spread out unto Thee my hands.Mine eye consumeth by reason of affliction. Upon thee, Jehovah, have I called every day; I have stretched out my hands unto thee.My eyes are dim from grief. I have called on you daily, Yahweh. I have spread out my hands to you.O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.
Psalms 88:10To the dead dost Thou do wonders? Do Rephaim rise? do they thank Thee? Selah.Wilt thou do wonders to the dead? shall the shades arise and praise thee? Selah.Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise up and praise you? Selah.Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof.
Psalms 88:11Is Thy kindness recounted in the grave? Thy faithfulness in destruction?Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? thy faithfulness in Destruction?Is your lovingkindness declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction?Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.
Psalms 88:12Are Thy wonders known in the darkness? And Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?Are your wonders made known in the dark? Or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:
Psalms 88:13And I, unto Thee, O Jehovah, I have cried, And in the morning doth my prayer come before Thee.But as for me, Jehovah, I cry unto thee, and in the morning my prayer cometh before thee.But to you, Yahweh, I have cried. In the morning, my prayer comes before you.the north and the sea thou hast created. Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name:
Psalms 88:14Why, O Jehovah, castest Thou off my soul? Thou hidest Thy face from me.Why, O Jehovah, castest thou off my soul? [why] hidest thou thy face from me?Yahweh, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?thy arm is with might. Let thy hand be strengthened, and thy right hand exalted:
Psalms 88:15I [am] afflicted, and expiring from youth, I have borne Thy terrors I pine away.I am afflicted and expiring from my youth up; I suffer thy terrors, [and] I am distracted.I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted.justice and judgment are the preparation of thy throne. Mercy and truth shall go before thy face:
Psalms 88:16Over me hath Thy wrath passed, Thy terrors have cut me off,Thy fierce anger hath gone over me; thy terrors have brought me to nought:Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off.blessed is the people that knoweth jubilation. They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance:
Psalms 88:17They have surrounded me as waters all the day, They have gone round against me together,They have surrounded me all the day like water; they have compassed me about together.They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me.and in thy name they shall rejoice all the day, and in thy justice they shall be exalted.
Psalms 88:18Thou hast put far from me lover and friend, Mine acquaintance [is] the place of darkness!Lover and associate hast thou put far from me: my familiar friends are darkness.You have put lover and friend far from me, And my friends into darkness.
