Psalms 55:1To the Overseer with stringed instruments. An instruction, by David. Give ear, O God, [to] my prayer, And hide not from my supplication.Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.Unto the end, for a people that is removed at a distance from the sanctuary for David, for an inscription of a title (or pillar ) when the Philistines held him in Geth.To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David. Psalms 55:2Attend to me, and answer me, I mourn in my meditation, and make a noise,Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;Have mercy on me, O God, for man hath trodden me under foot; all the day long he hath afflicted me fighting against me.Attend to me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
Psalms 55:3Because of the voice of an enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked, For they cause sorrow to move against me, And in anger they hate me.Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.My enemies have trodden on me all the day long; for they are many that make war against me.Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

Psalms 55:5Fear and trembling come in to me, And horror doth cover me.Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. Psalms 55:8I hasten escape for myself, From a rushing wind, from a whirlwind.I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. for nothing shalt thou save them: in thy anger thou shalt break the people in pieces, O God,I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

Both iniquity and perverseness [are] in its midst,Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.Then shall my enemies be turned back. Fraud and deceit depart not from its street.Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.In God will I praise the word, in the Lord will I praise his speech. Psalms 55:12For an enemy reproacheth me not, or I bear [it], He who is hating me Hath not magnified himself against me, Or I hide from him.For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:In me, O God, are vows to thee, which I will pay, praises to thee:For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that magnified himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
Psalms 55:13But thou, a man as mine equal, My familiar friend, and mine acquaintance.But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.Because thou hast delivered my soul from death, my feet from falling: that I may please in the sight of God, in the light of the living.But it was thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance.
