John 9:1And as he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth. And when he went on his way, he saw a man blind from birth. And Jesus passing by, saw a man, who was blind from his birth:
John 9:2And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he should be born blind? And his disciples put a question to him, saying, Master, was it because of this man's sin, or the sin of his father and mother, that he has been blind from birth? And his disciples asked him: Rabbi, who hath sinned, this man, or his parents, that he should be born blind?
John 9:3Jesus answered, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. Jesus said in answer, It was not because of his sin, or because of his father's or mother's; it was so that the works of God might be seen openly in him.Jesus answered: Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
John 9:4We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. While it is day we have to do the works of him who sent me: the night comes when no work may be done.I must work the works of him that sent me, whilst it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:5When I am in the world, I am the light of the world. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and anointed his eyes with the clay, Having said these words, he put earth, mixed with water from his mouth, on the man's eyes,When he had said these things, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and spread the clay on his eyes,
John 9:7and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). He went away therefore, and washed, and came seeing. And said to him, Go and make yourself clean in the bath of Siloam (the sense of the name is, Sent). So he went away and, after washing, came back able to see.And said to him: Go, wash in the pool of Siloe, which is interpreted, Sent. He went therefore, and washed, and he came seeing.
John 9:8The neighbors therefore, and they that saw him aforetime, that he was a beggar, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? Then the neighbours and others who had seen him before in the street, with his hand out for money, said, Is not this the man who got money from people? The neighbours therefore, and they who had seen him before that he was a beggar, said: Is not this he that sat and begged? Some said: This is he.
John 9:9Others said, It is he: others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am [he]. Some said, It is he: others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am he.But others said: No, but he is like him. But he said: I am he.
John 9:10They said therefore unto him, How then were thine eyes opened? So they said to him, How then were your eyes made open? They said therefore to him: How were thy eyes opened?
John 9:11He answered, The man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to Siloam, and wash: so I went away and washed, and I received sight. His answer was: The man who is named Jesus put earth mixed with water on my eyes, and said to me, Go and make yourself clean in Siloam: so I went away and, after washing, am now able to see.He answered: That man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me: Go to the pool of Siloe, and wash. And I went, I washed, and I see.
John 9:12And they said unto him, Where is he? He saith, I know not. And they said to him, Where is he? His answer was: I have no knowledge. And they said to him: Where is he? He saith: I know not.
John 9:13They bring to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. They took him before the Pharisees this man who had been blind. They bring him that had been blind to the Pharisees.
John 9:14Now it was the sabbath on the day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. Now the day on which the earth was mixed by Jesus and the man's eyes were made open was the Sabbath. Now it was the sabbath, when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
John 9:15Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. And he said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and I see. So the Pharisees put more questions to him about how his eyes had been made open. And he said to them, He put earth on my eyes, and I had a wash and am able to see.Again therefore the Pharisees asked him, how he had received his sight. But he said to them: He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and I see.
John 9:16Some therefore of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. But others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was division among them. Then some of the Pharisees said, That man has not come from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath. Others said, How is it possible for a sinner to do such signs? So there was a division among them. Some therefore of the Pharisees said: This man is not of God, who keepeth not the sabbath. But others said: How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
John 9:17They say therefore unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, in that he opened thine eyes? And he said, He is a prophet. Again they said to the blind man, What have you to say about him for opening your eyes? And he said, He is a prophet. They say therefore to the blind man again: What sayest thou of him that hath opened they eyes? And he said: He is a prophet.
John 9:18The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight, Now the Jews had no belief in the statement that he had been blind and was now able to see, till they sent for the father and mother of the man whose eyes had been made open,The Jews then did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight,
John 9:19and asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? How then doth he now see? And put the question to them, saying, Is this your son, of whom you say that he was blind at birth? how is it then that he is now able to see?And asked them, saying: Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then doth he now see?
John 9:20His parents answered and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: In answer his father and mother said, We are certain that this is our son and that he was blind at birth:His parents answered them, and said: We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
John 9:21but how he now seeth, we know not; or who opened his eyes, we know not: ask him; he is of age; he shall speak for himself. But how it is he is now able to see, or who made his eyes open, we are not able to say: put the question to him; he is old enough to give an answer for himself. But how he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: ask himself: he is of age, let him speak for himself.
John 9:22These things said his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man should confess him [to be] Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. They said this because of their fear of the Jews: for the Jews had come to an agreement that if any man said that Jesus was the Christ he would be put out of the Synagogue. These things his parents said, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had already agreed among themselves, that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
John 9:23Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him. That was the reason why they said, He is old enough; put the question to him. Therefore did his parents say: He is of age, ask himself.
John 9:24So they called a second time the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give glory to God: we know that this man is a sinner. So they sent a second time for the man who had been blind and they said to him, Give glory to God: it is clear to us that this man is a sinner. They therefore called the man again that had been blind, and said to him: Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.
John 9:25He therefore answered, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. He said in answer, I have no knowledge if he is a sinner or not, but one thing I am certain about; I was blind, and now I see.He said therefore to them: If he be a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.
John 9:26They said therefore unto him, What did he to thee? How opened he thine eyes? Then they said to him, What did he do to you? how did he give you the use of your eyes? They said then to him: What did he to thee? How did he open thy eyes?
John 9:27He answered them, I told you even now, and ye did not hear; wherefore would ye hear it again? would ye also become his disciples? His answer was: I have said it before, but your ears were shut: why would you have me say it again? is it your desire to become his disciples? He answered them: I have told you already, and you have heard: why would you hear it again? will you also become his disciples?
John 9:28And they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses. And they were angry with him and said, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses. They reviled him therefore, and said: Be thou his disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses.
John 9:29We know that God hath spoken unto Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is. We are certain that God gave his word to Moses: but as for this man, we have no knowledge where he comes from.We know that God spoke to Moses: but as to this man, we know not from whence he is.
John 9:30The man answered and said unto them, Why, herein is the marvel, that ye know not whence he is, and [yet] he opened mine eyes. The man said in answer, Why, here is a strange thing! You have no knowledge where he comes from though he gave me the use of my eyes. The man answered, and said to them: Why, herein is a wonderful thing, that you know not from whence he is, and he hath opened my eyes.
John 9:31We know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and do his will, him he heareth. We have knowledge that God does not give ear to sinners, but if any man is a worshipper of God and does his pleasure, to him God's ears are open. Now we know that God doth not hear sinners: but if a man be a server of God, and doth his will, him he heareth.
John 9:32Since the world began it was never heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind. In all the years nobody has ever before seen the eyes of a man blind from birth made open. From the beginning of the world it hath not been heard, that any man hath opened the eyes of one born blind.
John 9:33If this man were not from God, he could do nothing. If this man did not come from God he would be unable to do anything.Unless this man were of God, he could not do any thing.
John 9:34They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. Their answer was: You came to birth through sin; do you make yourself our teacher? And they put him out of the Synagogue. They answered, and said to him: Thou wast wholly born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
John 9:35Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? It came to the ears of Jesus that they had put him out, and meeting him he said, Have you faith in the Son of man?Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said to him: Dost thou believe in the Son of God?
John 9:36He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him? He said in answer, And who is he, Lord? Say, so that I may have faith in him.He answered, and said: Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?
John 9:37Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and he it is that speaketh with thee. Jesus said to him, You have seen him; it is he who is talking to you.And Jesus said to him: Thou hast both seen him; and it is he that talketh with thee.
John 9:38And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. And he said, Lord, I have faith. And he gave him worship. And he said: I believe, Lord. And falling down, he adored him.
John 9:39And Jesus said, For judgment came I into this world, that they that see not may see; and that they that see may become blind. And Jesus said, I came into this world to be a judge, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind. And Jesus said: For judgment I am come into this world; that they who see not, may see; and they who see, may become blind.
John 9:40Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said unto him, Are we also blind? These words came to the ears of the Pharisees who were with him and they said to him, Are we, then, blind? And some of the Pharisees, who were with him, heard: and they said unto him: Are we also blind?
John 9:41Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see: your sin remaineth. Jesus said to them, If you were blind you would have no sin: but now that you say, We see; your sin is there still.Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin: but now you say: We see. Your sin remaineth.
