1st-Peter 5:1The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you:The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
1st-Peter 5:2Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to [the will of] God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind;Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but from a ready mind;
1st-Peter 5:3neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock. Not as lords over God's heritage, but making yourselves examples to the flock.Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
1st-Peter 5:4And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. And at the coming of the chief Keeper of the sheep, you will be given the eternal crown of glory.And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
1st-Peter 5:5Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low.Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
1st-Peter 5:6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; For this cause make yourselves low under the strong hand of God, so that when the time comes you may be lifted up;Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1st-Peter 5:7casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you. Putting all your troubles on him, for he takes care of you.Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1st-Peter 5:8Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, Be serious and keep watch; the Evil One, who is against you, goes about like a lion with open mouth in search of food;Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1st-Peter 5:9whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. Do not give way to him but be strong in your faith, in the knowledge that your brothers who are in the world undergo the same troubles.Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1st-Peter 5:10And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you. And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
1st-Peter 5:11To him [be] the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. His is the power for ever. So be it.To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1st-Peter 5:12By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I account [him], I have written unto you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand ye fast therein. I have sent you this short letter by Silvanus, a true brother, in my opinion; comforting you and witnessing that this is the true grace of God; keep to it.By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.
1st-Peter 5:13She that is in Babylon, elect together with [you], saluteth you; and [so doth] Mark my son. She who is in Babylon, who has a part with you in the purpose of God, sends you her love; and so does my son Mark.The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Mark my son.
1st-Peter 5:14Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ. Give one another the kiss of love. Peace be to you all in Christ.Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
