Galatians 2:1Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me. Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus with me.Then fourteen years after I went again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.
Galatians 2:2And I went up by revelation; and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles but privately before them who were of repute, lest by any means I should be running, or had run, in vain. And I went up by revelation; and I put before them the good news which I was preaching among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were of good name, so that the work which I was or had been doing might not be without effect. And I went by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them who were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run in vain.
Galatians 2:3But not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: But not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was made to undergo circumcision:But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
Galatians 2:4and that because of the false brethren privily brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: And that because of the false brothers let in secretly, who came searching out our free condition which we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might make servants of us;And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privately to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
Galatians 2:5to whom we gave place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. To whom we gave way not even for an hour; so that the true words of the good news might still be with you.To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Galatians 2:6But from those who were reputed to be somewhat (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth not man's person)-- they, I say, who were of repute imparted nothing to me: But from those who seemed to be important (whatever they were has no weight with me: God does not take man's person into account): those who seemed to be important gave nothing new to me;But of these, who seemed to be somewhat, (whatever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat, in conference added nothing to me:
Galatians 2:7but contrariwise, when they saw that I had been intrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, even as Peter with [the gospel] of the circumcision But, quite the opposite, when they saw that I had been made responsible for preaching the good news to those without circumcision, even as Peter had been for those of the circumcisionBut on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was to Peter;
Galatians 2:8(for he that wrought for Peter unto the apostleship of the circumcision wrought for me also unto the Gentiles); (Because he who was working in Peter as the Apostle of the circumcision was working no less in me among the Gentiles);(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me towards the Gentiles:)
Galatians 2:9and when they perceived the grace that was given unto me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision; When they saw the grace which was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who had the name of being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas their right hands as friends so that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision; And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcision.
Galatians 2:10only [they would] that we should remember the poor; which very thing I was also zealous to do. Only it was their desire that we would give thought to the poor; which very thing I had much in mind to do.Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
Galatians 2:11But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned. But when Cephas came to Antioch, I made a protest against him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. But when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
Galatians 2:12For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing them that were of the circumcision. For before certain men came from James, he did take food with the Gentiles: but when they came, he went back and made himself separate, fearing those who were of the circumcision. For before that certain came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles: but when they had come, he withdrew, and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision.
Galatians 2:13And the rest of the Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation. And the rest of the Jews went after him, so that even Barnabas was overcome by their false ways. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; so that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
Galatians 2:14But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Cephas before [them] all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as do the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, how compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? But when I saw that they were not living uprightly in agreement with the true words of the good news, I said to Cephas before them all, If you, being a Jew, are living like the Gentiles, and not like the Jews, how will you make the Gentiles do the same as the Jews? But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
Galatians 2:15We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, We being Jews by birth, and not sinners of the Gentiles,We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
Galatians 2:16yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Being conscious that a man does not get righteousness by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we had faith in Christ Jesus, so that we might get righteousness by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law will no flesh get righteousness.Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we may be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:17But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a minister of sin? God forbid. But if, while we were desiring to get righteousness through Christ, we ourselves were seen to be sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? In no way!But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? By no means.
Galatians 2:18For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressor. For if I put up again those things which I gave to destruction, I am seen to be a wrongdoer. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Galatians 2:19For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God. For I, through the law, have become dead to the law, so that I might be living to God.For I through the law am dead to the law, that I may live to God.
Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that [life] which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, [the faith] which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me.I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:21I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought. I do not make the grace of God of no effect: because if righteousness is through the law, then Christ was put to death for nothing.I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness is attainable by the law, then Christ hath died in vain.
