Luke 4:2during forty days, being tempted of the devil. And he did eat nothing in those days: and when they were completed, he hungered. For forty days, being tested by the Evil One. And he had no food in those days; and when they came to an end, he was in need of food.for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry.
Luke 4:3And the devil said unto him, if thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread. And the Evil One said to him, If you are the Son of God, give orders to this stone to become bread.The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
Luke 4:4And Jesus answered unto him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone. And Jesus made answer to him, It has been said in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need.Jesus answered him, saying,"It is written, 'Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"
Luke 4:5And he led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And he took him up and let him see all the kingdoms of the earth in a minute of time.The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited world in a moment of time.
Luke 4:6And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. And the Evil One said, I will give you authority over all these, and the glory of them, for it has been given to me, and I give it to anyone at my pleasure.The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.
Luke 4:7If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine. If then you will give worship to me, it will all be yours.If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours."
Luke 4:8And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. And Jesus in answer said to him, It has been said in the Writings, Give worship to the Lord your God, and be his servant only.Jesus answered him, "Get behind me Satan! For it is written, 'You will worship the Lord your God, and him only will you serve.'"
Luke 4:9And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: And he took him to Jerusalem and put him on the highest point of the Temple and said to him, If you are the Son of God, let yourself go down from here; for it is said in the Writings,He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
Luke 4:10for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee: He will give his angels orders to take care of you:for it is written, 'He will give his angels charge concerning you, to guard you;'
Luke 4:11and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. And, In their hands they will keep you up, so that your foot may not be crushed against a stone.and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, Lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.'"
Luke 4:12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God. And Jesus made answer and said to him, It is said in the Writings, You may not put the Lord your God to the test.Jesus answering, said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'"
Luke 4:13And when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season. And when all these tests were ended the Evil One went away from him for a time.When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for awhile.
Luke 4:14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about. And Jesus came back to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and the news of him went through all the country round about.Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.
Luke 4:15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he was teaching in their Synagogues and all men gave him praise.He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
Luke 4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and he entered, as his custom was, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luke 4:18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are broken-hearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains,"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, Because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to the captives, Recovering of sight to the blind, To deliver those who are crushed,
Luke 4:19To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. To give knowledge that the year of the Lord's good pleasure is come.And to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
Luke 4:20And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. And shutting the book he gave it back to the servant and took his seat: and the eyes of all in the Synagogue were fixed on him.He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. Luke 4:22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph's son? And they were all giving witness, with wonder, to the words of grace which came from his mouth: and they said, Is not this the son of Joseph?All testified about him, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Isn't this Joseph's son?"
Luke 4:23And he said unto them, Doubtless ye will say unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in thine own country. And he said to them, Without doubt you will say to me, Let the medical man make himself well: the things which to our knowledge were done at Capernaum, do them here in your country.He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, 'Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.'"
Luke 4:24And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. And he said to them, Truly I say to you, No prophet is honoured in his country.He said, "Most assuredly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.

Luke 4:34Ah! what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. Let us be! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? have you come to put an end to us? I have knowledge who you are, the Holy One of God.saying, "Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!"
Luke 4:35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt. And Jesus said to him, Be quiet, and come out of him. And when the evil spirit had put him down on the earth in the middle of them, he came out of him, having done him no damage.Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
Luke 4:36And amazement came upon all, and they spake together, one with another, saying, What is this word? for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. And wonder came on them all and they said to one another, What are these words? for with authority and power he gives orders to the evil spirits and they come out.Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!"
Luke 4:37And there went forth a rumor concerning him into every place of the region round about. And there was much talk about him in all the places round about.News about him went forth into every place of the surrounding region.
Luke 4:38And he rose up from the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was holden with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he got up and went out of the Synagogue and went into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was very ill with a burning heat; and in answer to their prayers for herHe rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him for her.
Luke 4:39And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she rose up and ministered unto them. He went near her, and with a sharp word he gave orders to the disease and it went away from her; and straight away she got up and took care of their needs.He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and ministered to them.
Luke 4:40And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. Luke 4:41And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ. And evil spirits came out of a number of them, crying out and saying, You are the Son of God. But he gave them sharp orders not to say a word, because they had knowledge that he was the Christ.Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" Rebuking them, he didn't allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
Luke 4:42And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them. And when it was day, he came out and went to a waste place; and great numbers of people came looking for him, and they came to him and would have kept him from going away.When it was day, he came out and went into an uninhabited place, and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn't go away from them.
Luke 4:43But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. But he said to them, I have to give the good news of the kingdom of God in other towns, because that is why I was sent.But he said to them, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for this reason I have been sent."
Luke 4:44And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. And he was teaching in the Synagogues of Galilee.He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
