1st-Peter 4:1Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,
1st-Peter 4:2that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;
1st-Peter 4:3For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;for sufficient to us [is] the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revelings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,
1st-Peter 4:4wherein they think strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]: And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:in which they think it strange your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,
1st-Peter 4:5who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,
1st-Peter 4:6For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. For this was the reason why the good news of Jesus was given even to the dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but might be living before God in the spirit.for for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.
1st-Peter 4:7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer: But the end of all things is near: so be serious in your behaviour and keep on the watch with prayer;And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,
1st-Peter 4:8above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins: And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number:and, before all things, to one another having the earnest love, because the love shall cover a multitude of sins;
1st-Peter 4:9using hospitality one to another without murmuring: Keep open house for all with a glad heart;hospitable to one another, without murmuring;
1st-Peter 4:10according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God; Making distribution among one another of whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God;each, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;
1st-Peter 4:11if any man speaketh, [speaking] as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, [ministering] as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.if any one doth speak `as oracles of God;` if any one doth minister `as of the ability which God doth supply;` that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power to the ages of the ages. Amen.
1st-Peter 4:12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you: Dear brothers, do not be surprised, as if it was something strange, if your faith is tested as by fire:Beloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,
1st-Peter 4:13but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. But be glad that you are given a part in the pains of Christ; so that at the revelation of his glory you may have great joy.but, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice exulting;
1st-Peter 4:14If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; because the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you. If men say evil things of you because of the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you.if ye be reproached in the name of Christ happy [are ye], because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;
1st-Peter 4:15For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters: Let no one among you undergo punishment as a taker of life, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as one who is over-interested in other men's business;for let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men`s matters;
1st-Peter 4:16but if [a man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. But if he undergoes punishment as a Christian, that is no shame to him; let him give glory to God in this name.and if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;
1st-Peter 4:17For the time [is come] for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if [it begin] first at us, what [shall be] the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?because it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?
1st-Peter 4:18And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? And if it is hard for even the good man to get salvation, what chance has the man without religion or the sinner?And if the righteous man is scarcely saved, the ungodly and sinner where shall he appear?
1st-Peter 4:19Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator. For this reason let those who by the purpose of God undergo punishment, keep on in well-doing and put their souls into the safe hands of their Maker.so that also those suffering according to the will of god, as to a stedfast Creator, let them commit their own souls in good doing.
