Luke 4:1 | And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the wilderness | But Jesus, full of [the] Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness | Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led about by the Spirit in the Desert for forty days, |
Luke 4:2 | during forty days, being tempted of the devil. And he did eat nothing in those days: and when they were completed, he hungered. | forty days, tempted of the devil; and in those days he did not eat anything, and when they were finished he hungered. | tempted all the while by the Devil. During those days He ate nothing, and at the close of them He suffered from hunger. |
Luke 4:3 | And the devil said unto him, if thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread. | And the devil said to him, If thou be Son of God, speak to this stone, that it become bread. | Then the Devil said to Him, "If you are God's Son, tell this stone to become bread." |

Luke 4:5 | And he led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. | And [the devil], leading him up into a high mountain, shewed him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time. | The Devil next led Him up and caused Him to see at a glance all the kingdoms of the world. |
Luke 4:6 | And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. | And the devil said to him, I will give thee all this power, and their glory; for it is given up to me, and to whomsoever I will I give it. | And the Devil said to Him, "To you will I give all this authority and this splendour; for it has been handed over to me, and on whomsoever I will I bestow it. |
Luke 4:7 | If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine. | If therefore *thou* wilt do homage before me, all [of it] shall be thine. | If therefore you do homage to me, it shall all be yours.' |

Luke 4:10 | for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee: | for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee to keep thee; | `He will give orders to His angels concerning thee, to guard thee safely;' |
Luke 4:11 | and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. | and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in any wise thou strike thy foot against a stone. | and `On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'" |

Luke 4:14 | And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about. | And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee; and a rumour went out into the whole surrounding country about him; | Then Jesus returned in the Spirit's power to Galilee; and His fame spread through all the adjacent districts. |

Luke 4:19 | To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. | to preach [the] acceptable year of [the] Lord. | to proclaim the year of acceptance with the Lord." |
Luke 4:20 | And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. | And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him. | And rolling up the book, He returned it to the attendant, and sat down to speak. Luke 4:22 | And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph's son? | And all bore witness to him, and wondered at the words of grace which were coming out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this the son of Joseph? | And they all spoke well of Him, wondering at the sweet words of kindness which fell from His lips, while they asked one another, "Is not this Joseph's son?" |
Luke 4:23 | And he said unto them, Doubtless ye will say unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in thine own country. | And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this parable, Physician, heal thyself; whatsoever we have heard has taken place in Capernaum do here also in thine own country. | "Doubtless," said He, "you will quote to me the proverb, `Physician, cure yourself: all that we hear that you have done at Capernaum, do here also in your native place.'" |

Luke 4:26 | and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. | and to none of them was Elias sent but to Sarepta of Sidonia, to a woman [that was] a widow. | and yet to not one of them was Elijah sent: he was only sent to a widow at Zarephath in the Sidonian country. |
Luke 4:27 | And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian. | And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian. | And there was also many a leper in Israel in the time of the Prophet Elisha, and yet not one of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian was." |

Luke 4:31 | And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. Luke 4:34 | Ah! what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. | saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy [One] of God. | "Ha! Jesus the Nazarene, what have you to do with us? I know who you are God's Holy One!" |
Luke 4:35 | And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt. | And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out from him. And the demon, having thrown him down into the midst, came out from him without doing him any injury. | But Jesus rebuked the demon. "Silence!" He exclaimed; "come out of him." Upon this, the demon hurled the man into the midst of them, and came out of him without doing him any harm. |
Luke 4:36 | And amazement came upon all, and they spake together, one with another, saying, What is this word? for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. | And astonishment came upon all, and they spoke to one another, saying, What word [is] this? for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out. | All were astonished and awe-struck; and they asked one another, "What sort of language is this? For with authority and real power He gives orders to the foul spirits and they come out." |
Luke 4:37 | And there went forth a rumor concerning him into every place of the region round about. | And a rumour went out into every place of the country round concerning him. | And the talk about Him spread into every part of the neighbouring country. |
Luke 4:38 | And he rose up from the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was holden with a great fever; and they besought him for her. | And rising up out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon. But Simon's mother-in-law was suffering under a bad fever; and they asked him for her. | Now when He rose and left the synagogue He went to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from an acute attack of fever; and they consulted Him about her. |
Luke 4:39 | And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she rose up and ministered unto them. | And standing over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her; and forthwith standing up she served them. | Then standing over her He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she at once rose and waited on them. |
Luke 4:40 | And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. | And when the sun went down, all, as many as had persons sick with divers diseases, brought them to him, and having laid his hands on every one of them, he healed them; | At sunset all who had friends suffering from any illness brought them to Him, and He laid His hands on them all, one by one, and cured them. |
Luke 4:41 | And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ. | and demons also went out from many, crying out and saying, *Thou* art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ. | Demons also came out of many, loudly calling out, "You are the Son of God." Luke 4:42 | And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them. | And when it was day he went out, and went into a desert place, and the crowds sought after him, and came up to him, and [would have] kept him back that he should not go from them. | Next morning, at daybreak, He left the town and went away to a solitary place; but the people flocked out to find Him, and, coming to the place where He was, they endeavoured to detain Him that He might not leave them. |
Luke 4:43 | But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. | But he said to them, I must needs announce the glad tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for for this I have been sent forth. | But He said to them, "I have to tell the Good News of the Kingdom of God to the other towns also, because for this purpose I was sent." |
Luke 4:44 | And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. | And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. | And for some time He preached in the synagogues in Galilee. |
