Luke 3:11 | And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise. | And he answering says to them, He that has two body-coats, let him give to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise. | and he answering saith to them, `He having two coats let him impart to him having none, and he having victuals in like manner let him do.` |
Luke 3:12 | And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do? | And tax-gatherers came also to be baptised, and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do? | And there came also tax-gatherers to be baptised, and they said unto him, `Teacher, what shall we do?` |
Luke 3:13 | And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you. | And he said to them, Take no more [money] than what is appointed to you. | and he said unto them, `Exact no more than that directed you.` |
Luke 3:14 | And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse [any one] wrongfully; and be content with your wages. | And persons engaged in military service also asked him saying, And we, what should we do? And he said to them, Oppress no one, nor accuse falsely, and be satisfied with your pay. | And questioning him also were those warring, saying, `And we, what shall we do?` and he said unto them, `Do violence to no one, nor accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.` |
Luke 3:15 | And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ; | But as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John whether *he* might be the Christ, | And the people are looking forward, and all are reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether or not he may be the Christ; |
Luke 3:16 | John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire: | John answered all, saying, *I* indeed baptise you with water, but the mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to unloose; *he* shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire; | John answered, saying to all, `I indeed with water do baptise you, but he cometh who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to loose the latchet of his sandals he shall baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; |
