| Exodus 40:1 | And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, | And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | And the Lord said to Moses, |
| Exodus 40:2 | On the first day of the first month shalt thou rear up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. | The first month, the first day of the month, thou shalt set up the tabernacle of the testimony, | On the first day of the first month you are to put up the House of the Tent of meeting. |
| Exodus 40:3 | And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and thou shalt screen the ark with the veil. | And shalt put the ark in it, and shalt let down the veil before it: | And inside it put the ark of the law, hanging the veil before it. |
| Exodus 40:4 | And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof. | And thou shalt bring in the table, and set upon it the things that are commanded according to the rite. The candlestick shall stand with its lamps, | And put the table inside, placing all the things on it in order; and put in the support for the lights, and let its lights be burning. |
| Exodus 40:5 | And thou shalt set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle. | And the altar of gold whereon the incense is burnt, before the ark of the testimony. Thou shalt put the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle, | And put the gold altar for burning perfumes in front of the ark of the law, hanging the curtain over the doorway of the House. |

| Exodus 40:7 | And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water therein. | The laver between the altar and the tabernacle, and thou shalt fill it with water. | And let the washing-vessel, with water in it, be put between the Tent of meeting and the altar. |
| Exodus 40:8 | And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court. | And thou shalt encompass the court with hangings, and the entry thereof. | And put up the hangings forming the open space all round it, with the curtain over its doorway. |
| Exodus 40:9 | And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the furniture thereof: and it shall be holy. | And thou shalt take the oil of unction and anoint the tabernacle with its vessels, that they may be sanctified: | And take the holy oil and put it on the House and everything in it, and make it and everything in it holy: |
| Exodus 40:10 | And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and the altar shall be most holy. | The altar of holocaust and all its vessels: | And put oil on the altar of burned offering, and make it and all its vessels holy; this altar is to be most holy. |
| Exodus 40:11 | And thou shalt anoint the laver and its base, and sanctify it. | The laver with its foot: thou shalt consecrate all with the oil of unction, that they may be most holy. | And put oil on the washing-vessel and its base, and make them holy. |
| Exodus 40:12 | And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tent of meeting, and shalt wash them with water. | And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and having washed them with water, | Then let Aaron and his sons come to the door of the Tent of meeting; and after washing them with water, |
| Exodus 40:13 | And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments; and thou shalt anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. | Thou shalt put on them the holy vestments, that they may minister to me, and that the unction of them may prosper to an everlasting priesthood. | You are to put on Aaron the holy robes; and you are to put oil on him, and make him holy, so that he may be my priest. |
| Exodus 40:14 | And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them; | And Moses did all that the Lord had commanded. | And take his sons with him and put coats on them; |
| Exodus 40:15 | and thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: and their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations. | So in the first month of the second year, the first day of the month, the tabernacle was set up. | And put oil on them as you did on their father, so that they may be my priests: the putting on of oil will make them priests for ever, from generation to generation. |

| Exodus 40:17 | And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up. | And spread the roof over the tabernacle, putting over it a cover, as the Lord had commanded. | So on the first day of the first month in the second year the House was put up. |
| Exodus 40:18 | And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars. | And he put the testimony in the ark, thrusting bars underneath, and the oracle above. | Moses put up the House; placing its bases in position and lifting up its uprights, putting in the rods and planting the pillars in their places; |
| Exodus 40:19 | And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | And when he had brought the ark into the tabernacle, he drew the veil before it to fulfil the commandment of the Lord. | Stretching the outer tent over it, and covering it, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:20 | And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark: | And he set the table in the tabernacle of the testimony at the north side without the veil, | And he took the law and put it inside the ark, and put the rods at its side and the cover over it; |
| Exodus 40:21 | and he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | Setting there in order the loaves of proposition, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | And he took the ark into the House, hanging up the veil before it as the Lord had given him orders. |

| Exodus 40:23 | And he set the bread in order upon it before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | Placing the lamps in order, according to the precept of the Lord. | And he put the bread on it in order before the Lord, as the Lord had said. |
| Exodus 40:24 | And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward. | He set also the altar of gold under the roof of the testimony over against the veil, | The support for the lights he put in the Tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side: |
| Exodus 40:25 | And he lighted the lamps before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | And burnt upon it the incense of spices, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | Lighting the lights before the Lord, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:26 | And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil: | And he put also the hanging in the entry of the tabernacle of the testimony, | And he put the gold altar in the Tent of meeting, in front of the veil: |
| Exodus 40:27 | and he burnt thereon incense of sweet spices; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | And the altar of holocaust of the entry of the testimony, offering the holocaust, and the sacrifices upon it, as the Lord had commanded. | Burning sweet perfumes on it, as the Lord had given him orders. |
| Exodus 40:28 | And he put the screen of the door to the tabernacle. | And he set the laver between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, filling it with water. | And he put up the curtain at the doorway of the House. |
| Exodus 40:29 | And he set the altar of burnt-offering at the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt-offering and the meal-offering; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | And Moses and Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet, | And at the door of the House of the Tent of meeting, he put the altar of burned offerings, offering on it the burned offering and the meal offering, as the Lord had given him orders. |

| Exodus 40:31 | And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat; | He set up also the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, drawing the hanging in the entry thereof. After all things were perfected, | In it the hands and feet of Moses and Aaron and his sons were washed, |
| Exodus 40:32 | when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as Jehovah commanded Moses. | The cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the Lord filled it. | Whenever they went into the Tent of meeting, and when they came near the altar, as the Lord had given orders to Moses. |
| Exodus 40:33 | And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work. | Neither could Moses go into the tabernacle of the covenant, the cloud covering all things and the majesty of the Lord shining, for the cloud had covered all. | And he put up the hangings forming the open space round the House and the altar, and put the curtain over the doorway. So Moses made the work complete. |
| Exodus 40:34 | Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. | If at any time the cloud removed from the tabernacle, the children of Israel went forward by their troops: | Then the cloud came down covering the Tent of meeting, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord; |
| Exodus 40:35 | And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. | If it hung over, they remained in the same place. | So that Moses was not able to go into the Tent of meeting, because the cloud was resting on it, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord. |
| Exodus 40:36 | And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys: | For the cloud of the Lord hung over the tabernacle by day, and a fire by night, in the sight of all the children of Israel throughout all their mansions. | And whenever the cloud was taken up from the House, the children of Israel went forward on their journey: |
| Exodus 40:37 | but if the cloud was not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. | | But while the cloud was there, they made no move till it was taken up. |
| Exodus 40:38 | For the cloud of Jehovah was upon the tabernacle by day, and there was fire therein by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys. | | For the cloud of the Lord was resting on the House by day, and at night there was fire in the cloud, before the eyes of all the people of Israel, and so it was through all their journeys. |
